Tobias said, "Kaia, you were so serious just now. I really thought you were angry. I was thinking about how to make it up to you."
"Do I seem that petty?" Kaia lifted her chin slightly and gave him a light, sidelong glance, emphasizing once more, "Remember what I said. You absolutely cannot lie to me."
"I mean it. Your words are stuck with me. I promise, I won't ever forget," Tobias vowed, his face as solemn as ever.
Finally, a bit more of a smile appeared on Kaia's face. "Alright, enough sweet talk. Let's hurry up and head to our destination."
Tobias's tense expression also relaxed considerably because of her smile. "Let's go."
The Maybach sped along the road. An hour later, they arrived at the mountaintop near the Pioneer Retreat hot springs.
Kaia stepped out of the car, her eyes lighting up with awe as she took in the endless expanse of grass and the star-studded sky above. "It's so beautiful here. It's like stepping into an anime world."
"I knew you'd like this place. Seems all my research wasn't in vain." Tobias walked to Kaia's side, looking at her exquisite face veiled by the moonlight, his eyes filled with tenderness.
Before him was the person he loved most, surrounded by beautiful scenery. His heart was filled with an unprecedented sense of contentment and joy.
He believed he and Kaia would continue to be this happy and joyful together.
Hearing Tobias's words and looking at the large lawn before her, Kaia suddenly understood why Tobias had made so many preparations back at the hotel.
"Were you planning for us to camp out here and stargaze tonight?" Kaia asked.
Tobias smiled indulgently. "Kaia, you're so clever. But you've only guessed half of it."
"Only half right?" Kaia looked puzzled. "So what's the rest that I missed?"
Tobias set his backpack and bag down, unzipped them, and started pulling out pieces of a tent to set it up.
"Yeah... I'm not just here to stargaze with you. I want us to catch the sunrise together, too."
"Sunrise?" Kaia swept her gaze around and then nodded in agreement. "This really is a great spot to watch the sunrise."
Tobias's lips curved upward, a hint of pride on his face. "My taste is pretty good, right? You always like the places I take you."
His childlike demeanor, waiting for praise, made Kaia smile helplessly. "Alright, alright, your taste is the best."
Receiving Kaia's praise made Tobias happier than closing a multi-billion-dollar deal. "The tent's set up. Go inside and see if it's comfortable."
"Okay." Kaia bent down, crawled into the tent, and looked around.
The tent was quite spacious. The top was transparent, so even lying down, she could see the starry night sky. "The tent is nice, very comfortable. Do you want to come in and try it?"
She waited, but only silence answered. Tobias didn't respond at all.
She couldn't help but frown, crawled out of the tent, and called his name."Tobias? Tobias..."
The lawn stretched out before her, empty and silent—not a soul in sight. Kaia's frown deepened.
"Tobias?" She raised her voice, but still didn't see Tobias appear.
Just as she was about to take out her phone to call him, that familiar, magnetic voice suddenly came from behind. "Kaia, turn around and look at me."
Kaia turned, and the instant she faced him, her eyes widened—astonishment and delight flashed through her gaze.
