Kaia's cheeks burned, the heat spreading all the way to her ears, turning them a soft pink. "Enough, I get it. Besides, you've said this in my ear so many times. You might not get tired of it, but my ears are getting calluses."
Tobias let out a low, teasing chuckle as he leaned into Kaia's ear, his voice just for her. "Oh, come on, you think this is a lot? It's nothing. You'd better get used to it, because I'm going to keep telling you every day."
Kaia might think he was being childish, but waves of emotion kept overflowing in her heart. A bright, genuine smile lit up her face.
"So, are you totally hooked on me, for real?" Kaia teased.
"Yes, I've set my heart on you alone. You will always be mine," Tobias said, all deep sincerity. He hadn't just said it; he'd proved it time and again.
Kaia turned her head, her beautiful eyes shimmering with utter confidence. "Yeah, we'll always be together. Nothing will ever come between us."
This was the first time Kaia had ever said something like this to him. Tobias was overjoyed beyond measure. "Kaia, you always find a way to make me like you even more."
"There you go again, can't stop with the smooth talk," Kaia huffed, rolling her eyes at Tobias. She turned away and shut her eyes. "It's very late now. Go to sleep, so we aren't still asleep when the sun rises tomorrow."
"Alright, alright, I'm going to sleep," Tobias said, rolling over and gently draping his big hand across Kaia's waist.
Kaia instinctively reached out, about to push his hand away.
But then, for some reason, she curled her fingers in and pulled her hand back, letting his arm rest there.
Tobias caught every little move she made, a playful grin tugging at his lips, his eyes sparkling with pure delight.
'My Kaia is just too adorable,' he thought.

At six in the morning, the sun was just starting to peek over the horizon. Kaia glanced at Tobias, still dead asleep beside her. She reached out to pat his face. "Hey, Tobias, wake up. Get up to see the sunrise."
Tobias had actually been awake for a while, but when he heard Kaia calling him, he faked being groggy, slowly blinking his eyes open, pretending he'd just woken up.
"Kaia, waking up and seeing you first thing... honestly, it's the best way to start my day," he mumbled.
Kaia was speechless. "Can you save the mushy lines for later? It's way too early for that."
'It is way too much,' Kaia thought.
"What can I say? When I'm around you, I just lose all self-control," Tobias grinned, lifting his head to look out front.
Out there, over the rolling peaks, the first light of sunrise began to peek up.
The sun was wrapped in wispy layers of mist, making everything look totally dreamlike.
"Kaia..." Tobias was eager to share the feeling of seeing this beautiful scene with Kaia. But the moment he turned his head, the sight before him made him pause.
The gentle sunlight kissed Kaia's elegant profile, wrapping her in a hazy golden glow. Everything felt dreamlike, almost unreal, as if this moment might dissolve the instant he woke up... even her, the girl he loved more than anything.
Tobias was somewhat startled by this sudden thought.
Without thinking, Tobias pulled Kaia tightly into his arms.
"Kaia, promise me, never leave me, okay?" he whispered.
His embrace was very tight, as if only this could soothe the unease in his heart.
Kaia was baffled by his actions. "Aren't I right here with you? I never said I was leaving you. What's wrong?"
