Kaia gave him a sly glance. "You know, someone just can't seem to keep their hands off me whenever I'm around, and ends up all worked up. So, to stop you from getting too carried away and letting things spiral out of control, I figured I should come prepared."
Tobias caught Kaia's meaning instantly, and his grin grew even softer and more playful.
"Kaia, you always say my mind's in the gutter, but honestly, you're worse than me. See, I didn't even catch what you were hinting at just now—so clearly, I'm the innocent one here," he teased.
"Oh, sure, so innocent," Kaia said, her lips twitching.
"So innocent that you're always up to something around me—and constantly plotting ways to make babies with me," she teased.
Tobias swept Kaia into his arms, pulling her flush against him so not even a breath could fit between them.
"Kaia, haven't I told you this a million times already? You can't blame me for this—what can I do when every time you show up, I just lose control. No soup in the world could ever extinguish my feelings for you.
"A simple bowl just doesn't stand a chance against how much I want you," he said, sounding both helpless and more than a little playful.
Devin shivered at Tobias's mushy words, unable to stop himself from rubbing his arms. He glanced at the house staff and waved them over, silently telling them to head out with him.
The staff immediately caught on and quietly filed out after Devin, leaving the hall behind.
Kaia looked at Tobias's arm clamped tightly around her waist and squirmed, clearly uncomfortable as she tried to get some space.
"See, there you go again. Seriously, let go already. I can't even talk when you're holding me like this," Kaia protested.
Tobias, not wanting to upset her, reluctantly loosened his hold around Kaia's waist. "Is that any better?" he asked, softening his tone.
Kaia just shook her head, giving him a stubborn look. "Nope—not unless you let me go completely."
Instead of letting go even a little, Tobias tightened his grip, pulling Kaia right up against him until she could barely move.
"Kaia, you already know how crazy I am about you. Me letting go? Not a chance—and you know it," he murmured, voice playful but stubborn.
"You're really not letting go?" Kaia squinted at him, mischief dancing in her eyes. "So you admit you just can't quit that grabby habit when it comes to me, huh?"
Tobias shook his head, firm and unrepentant.
"Nope, no way—I can't help myself. Come on, I'm no monk. How could I ever keep away from the woman I love?" He sounded half-helpless, half-teasing.
Kaia smirked, a devilish glint flickering in her eyes.
"I think I know a way to handle that little issue," she teased.
That definitely piqued Tobias's curiosity.
"So what's your solution?" he asked.
Kaia reached into her pocket and pulled out a perfectly lined-up row of medical tools.
"How about I poke you with a couple of these? I bet you won't have any of those naughty urges for an entire year. Want to try it?" she joked, flashing him a mischievous grin.
Tobias's eyes widened and he actually flinched, stumbling back a step as soon as he realized what Kaia meant.
"Kaia, hold up—this is our whole future happiness on the line. Don't go playing with fire, alright?" Tobias exclaimed, putting on an exaggeratedly serious face.
"Relax, my skills are flawless. You're in safe hands," Kaia said, flashing Tobias a devilish grin as she leaned in closer.
"Come here, I swear I'll go easy on you. Promise you won't feel a thing," she teased, voice low and mischievous.
As Kaia moved closer with the silver needles, Tobias felt the hairs on his arms stand up and couldn't help but get a little nervous.
"Kaia, come on... Seriously, messing around with stuff like this is no joke," Tobias said, his voice wavering despite himself.
"You're the one who shouldn't move. This is for your own good, okay? Be good and hold still—let me give you a couple of shots." Kaia's grin grew even more mischievous as she lowered the needles toward him.
Tobias caught Kaia's meaning instantly, and his grin grew even softer and more playful.
