Grace snapped, too angry to finish her sentence.
She was so furious she nearly forgot to breathe, her face going bright red.
'Damn, this girl is even tougher to handle than Tobias!' Grace raged internally.
"If you're just here to start drama, call someone else. Don't waste my time—I'm hanging up," Kaia snapped, cutting the call before Grace could reply.
Just as Kaia was about to hang up, Grace's voice came through the phone, panicked and desperate.
"Wait, don't hang up! I want to talk to you about Tobias," Grace blurted out.
"Stuff about Tobias?" Kaia raised her brows, a little smirk playing at her lips. Her eyes flashed with and amused challenge. "If I want the scoop on him, I'll ask him myself—don't need you acting as his messenger."
Grace was about to lose it, practically ready to yell at Kaia through the phone, rage bubbling under her skin. 'This girl really knows how to push my buttons,' she thought, barely keeping herself in check.
But she needed to get what she came for—no way she was blowing up before that. Gritting her teeth, Grace forced herself to swallow her anger and play it cool.
"Seriously? You don't care at all—not even a little bit curious what I want to say?" Grace pushed, her frustration obvious.
"Not curious at all," Kaia answered, sounding totally chill and a bit amused. "Like I told you, if I want to know something about Tobias, I'll ask him myself. I don't need you telling me anything."
Grace clenched her fists so tight she could hear her knuckles pop, resentment boiling in her eyes. If Kaia were standing in front of her right now, Grace's death glare would've murdered her a thousand times over.
"Just tell me—what do you want? What will it take for you to actually meet up and talk?" Grace finally snapped, struggling to keep her cool as she nearly begged.
Kaia's lips curled into a sly smirk, amusement sparkling in her eyes.
"You want me to show up? Then beg for it. Go ahead, let me see you swallow your pride and ask nicely," she drawled, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"You're way out of line!" Grace's fury boiled over as she finally couldn't hold back anymore, yelling at Kaia.
Kaia replied with casual nonchalance, her words tinged with playful dismissal.
"Not up for it? Whatever. I'm not here to twist your arm. So I guess we're done here," she said, sounding utterly unfazed.
"You..." Grace stammered, so furious she could barely speak, her mind screaming, 'How can I let her have this much control over me?'
But without Kaia's help, there was no way she could pull this off. Right now, Kaia had her completely at her mercy, and that realization made Grace grit her teeth in frustration—she had absolutely no way to force her hand.
After stewing for nearly ten seconds, Grace swallowed her pride and finally decided to cave in, hating every second of it.
"I'm begging you, all right? Happy now?" Grace spat out, her voice thick with resentment.
Kaia raised her brow even higher, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh? And what are you begging for?"
Grace ground her teeth, took a deep breath, and yelled into the phone, "I'm begging you—please, just come out and meet me! I want to talk to you about Tobias. There, I said it—will you meet me now?"
"Alright, since you're begging so earnestly, I suppose I'll do you the favor and come meet you," Kaia said with a playful chuckle, grabbing her car keys as she walked out.
Grace stared at the disconnected phone, so furious she was practically grinding her molars to dust.
'Kaia, you shameless bitch! Absolutely no shame!' Grace raged inwardly.

Half an hour later, as soon as Kaia stepped into the café, she immediately spotted Grace sitting by the window. With a casual swagger, she made her way over, dropping into the seat across from Grace with that trademark cool indifference. "Alright, spill it. What do you want to talk about?"
Grace quickly explained how Tobias's painting got trashed. "The one Tobias had is wrecked—no way to fix it. The only Faye's masterpiece left out there is in my hands now.
"Keaton's about to get out of the hospital, and if he comes home and can't see that painting, trust me, he'll absolutely flip out. I could be nice and pass it to you, but... you'll have to do something for me first."
