"Oh?" Kaia arched her brows, which were as light as smoke, giving Grace a leisurely, composed look.
Kaia arched her brows, her expression unhurried as she calmly fixed her gaze on Grace.
"Let's hear it," she said.
Grace took out the bottle of drugs she'd prepared earlier and placed it right in front of Kaia.
"Slip this into his meal. Make sure he spends the night with me. When it's done, you'll get what you're after," she said.
Kaia burst out laughing.
"Grace, damn, are you really that thirsty? If you're so desperate for a guy, I can set you up with ten, twenty, hell, even a hundred. All premium quality, plenty of experience. Sound good?" Kaia shot back, her voice dripping with mockery.
Grace clenched her jaw, her face turning an ugly shade as anger flashed across her features.
"Don't give me that. Stop trying to provoke me. My intentions aren't anything like what you're saying," she retorted.
"Oh, really?" Kaia smirked, her eyes glinting with barely concealed mockery.
"If you're not after a guy, then why are you always hung up on someone else's man? And now you're even trying to get him into your bed?" she shot back.
As she met Kaia's mocking eyes, Grace's face grew even darker with anger. She clenched her fists, holding herself back over and over, but eventually lost control and shot up from her chair.
"Tobias is the only man I've ever wanted! Everything I'm doing now is just to draw a line under all the years I've liked him. How is that wrong?" Grace retorted, her voice trembling with anger.
Kaia gave a slow, sarcastic clap, a faint grin full of scorn flickering across her face.
"Grace, I've got to hand it to you—coming up with such a 'fresh and original' excuse just to steal someone else's guy. Tell me, does spinning it that way really make you feel any less guilty?" Kaia sneered.
Grace was so furious that her face was twisted in rage, yet she couldn't do a damn thing against Kaia. She was stuck there, powerless, just eyeing Kaia like she wanted to burn a hole through her.
"Oh, sorry, did I strike a nerve? Maybe that came out a bit wrong. I mean, someone as thick-skinned as you probably doesn't even know what guilt feels like. Pretty sure 'guilt' isn't anywhere in your vocabulary," Kaia snarked.
Grace was so pissed she was practically steaming, her breath coming out in wild huffs—totally on the verge of blowing her top.
Kaia gave a quiet, mocking laugh and slowly rose from her chair.
"If you're done, I'm leaving. I've got actual things to do—no time to waste on your crap," she shot back, not bothering to hide her contempt.
Seeing Kaia's total indifference, Grace's face twisted in rage as she shouted, "Do you really not care about Tobias at all? Don't you love him even a little?
"He's running himself ragged over that painting, and here's a chance to help him, but you won't even do this tiny thing for him. Seriously, it makes me wonder—do you love him, or is it just his status you're after?"
Kaia's expression hardened, her sharp eyes gathering a darkness that crackled with storm energy.
"If you're so desperate to self-destruct, I won't stop you—just don't think you can pull another stunt in front of me. Next time you try, I'll show you what real suffering means—worse than death.
"I've let you dance around acting out because I was feeling generous, but that's over. Don't mistake my tolerance for weakness. My patience is gone. Mess with me again, and trust me, your end will be downright miserable," Kaia said coldly, her voice cutting like ice.
Grace was totally caught off guard by the fierce energy Kaia suddenly gave off. She stayed frozen on the spot, so stunned she couldn't snap out of it for ages.
After standing there dazed for more than ten seconds, she finally pulled herself together. Snarling at Kaia, she spat out, "Kaia, you'll regret this."
"Funny. I think the real regret is yours, not mine," Kaia said, giving Grace that look you'd reserve for a childish clown.
Kaia's offhand glance was like a slap in the face—Grace felt her entire body shaking, hatred burning so hot inside her she could barely keep it together.
