This painting looked almost identical to the one that was hanging on the wall earlier.
Devin stared at it for a while, then suddenly asked, "Mr. Moreno, do you think Miss Adkins sent this over?"
Tobias examined the painting from top to bottom, checking out the style and the seal at the corner. Everything seemed legit.
There was no doubt about it—this was a genuine masterpiece by Faye.
But after a while, Tobias's sharp eyes caught something off.
"The tabby stripes in this painting don't match the movement in the one overseas. And there aren't any signs of age on this one—it must have been painted recently," he said.
Devin froze for a second, then his eyes went wide as something clicked in his mind.
"Wait, do you think Ms. Unity painted this and had it sent over on purpose?" he blurted out.
Tobias thought for a moment, then shook his head.
"I've only ever heard of Ms. Unity's legendary reputation, but I've never actually met her or had anything to do with her. Why would she suddenly send me a painting for no reason?
"They say she was a prodigy at three years old, then just disappeared from the spotlight. There are even rumors she's long gone—otherwise, why would she disappear overnight when everyone was talking about her?"
Devin scratched the back of his head and muttered, "Hey, you said it yourself—those are just rumors. Most rumors are bogus anyway. What if Ms. Unity is still alive, just not into painting anymore and switched careers?"
"It's not impossible," Tobias replied, then walked over and hung the painting himself.
"Either way, our urgent problem is handled for now. When you head out, keep an eye out for any news about Ms. Unity. If you hear anything, let me know, ASAP. Whoever they are, they've really helped me out—I want to thank them face to face," Tobias said.
Devin gave a nod. "Sure thing."

Half an hour later, Kaia walked into the living room and immediately spotted Tobias chilling on the couch.
The usual worry lines on his face had vanished, and he was back to his calm, steady self.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that whatever had been giving him trouble earlier had finally been taken care of.
Kaia curled her lips in a faint smile and wandered over at a leisurely pace.
Hearing someone coming in, Tobias looked up and couldn't help but freeze for a moment when he saw Kaia standing there.
"Kaia, aren't you supposed to be at the research institute right now? What brings you back so suddenly?" Tobias asked, surprise in his voice.
Kaia shrugged, her face full of helplessness. "Blame it on that hopeless crush of yours—she wouldn't stop pestering me about meeting at a café. If I didn't show up, she'd keep bugging me, and I'd never get any work done. I had no choice but to go take care of it!"
As soon as Tobias heard that, he immediately thought of Grace. His eyes narrowed, and there was suddenly a cold intensity in his gaze.
Tobias scoffed, "Grace actually had the nerve to bother you again? I guess the last warning didn't get through to her."
With that, he shot a frosty look at Devin, who was standing nearby, and called out, "Devin..."
But before he could finish, Kaia cut him off. "Seriously? She's just a small-time troublemaker, Tobias. You don't really need to stir things up or do it yourself over someone like her."
Tobias's brows drew together, and the coldness in his eyes didn't fade.
"But I can't just sit back and watch her mess with you again and again, making you swallow it," he said, his voice low and serious.
Kaia put a hand on Tobias's shoulder and nudged him back into his seat.
"The word 'wronged' isn't even in my vocabulary. The only reason I haven't called her out before is because the Moreno and Adkins families go way back, and I didn't want to make a scene.
