Louis shook his head, thinking, 'I only agreed to bring Kaia in because she's the city's top scorer on the SAT. I thought I'd let her see the world a bit. But she's still so clueless. Even if she's pretty and a top scorer, she's not even good for me.'
Louis and Andrea kept their eyes on Kaia, just waiting for her to embarrass herself.
But Kaia just walked right in without any trouble. The waiters and the security guards didn't even try to stop her.
Not only did they not stop her, but they even gave her a respectful bow.
'What the hell is going on?' Louis muttered, confusion written all over his face.
Louis and Andrea exchanged a look, both of them completely baffled.
"Let's go in," Louis said, his voice tight with frustration.
But when they finally made it inside, Kaia was nowhere to be seen.
"Did she latch onto someone important or something?" Andrea asked, suspicion clear in her voice.
Louis's face darkened. "She's got no shame. Probably traded her dignity just to get a meal here. Whatever, forget about her. She's a buzzkill. Let's just find someone and ask which private room Dr. Bennett and her team are in."
"Okay," Andrea said, clenching her fists. That was the real reason they were there.
Just as Andrea finished speaking, her eyes were immediately drawn to two total heartthrobs walking in from the entrance.
One had that icy, untouchable vibe, while the other oozed a rebellious, bad-boy charm—both of them had off-the-charts good looks.
But it was the cold one who stood out: sharp jawline, brows like distant mountains, ridiculously handsome, and an aura that made him seem like he didn't belong in this world.
'God, he's so handsome!' Andrea thought, barely stopping herself from saying it out loud.
Louis caught Andrea staring and followed her gaze. When he saw the two guys, his brows knitted in irritation.
"Andrea, what are you looking at?" Louis asked, a hint of impatience in his voice.
Andrea snapped out of it and quickly replied, "Louis, don't you think those two look kind of familiar?"
Louis turned for a closer look. The guy in the black suit didn't ring any bells. "You know, you might be onto something. That guy in the blue suit does look familiar. Where have I seen him before..."
'Wait, he really does look familiar?' Andrea thought, a little stunned. Then a thought popped into her head. "Could he be some big shot from the upper circles?"
Louis racked his brain but still couldn't figure out who the guy was. "They're already gone. Let's go ask around and see which private room Dr. Bennett and her team are in."
"Alright," Andrea replied sweetly.
Russell, dressed in a sharp blue suit, finally tore his eyes away from Louis and Andrea.
"Tobias, isn't that Kaia's ex-fiancé?" Russell asked, his curiosity piqued.
Tobias gave a nonchalant nod. "Yeah, that's him."
"Don't you have anything you want to say to him? Like, maybe thank him for being so blind and letting you scoop up such a catch?" Russell said, grinning like he was about to hear some juicy gossip.
"They were never really involved. Kaia never even cared about him. Why would I waste my time on someone who doesn't matter?" Tobias replied, his tone completely indifferent.
"Fair enough," Russell said, nodding in agreement. "By the way, today's the anniversary of Dr. Bennett's research institute. What a coincidence. They're having dinner here at Splendor Hotel tonight."
Tobias stopped in his tracks. "How do you know that?"
"I teamed up with Dr. Bennett for an all-night gaming session yesterday. She told me herself," Russell said, looking smug.
"You've been gaming with her a lot these days?" Tobias asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yep! What, are you envious or jealous?" Russell shot back with a grin.
