Kaia paused for a moment before replying, "I've got plenty."
Her family didn't get her anything, but her friends and coworkers had given her gifts that could fill a train.
Seeing Kaia hesitate, Penny guessed she was just putting on a brave face, and she probably didn't get a single present.
'Aww, poor girl,' Penny thought.
She took off the necklace she was wearing and said, "This is my favorite necklace. I want you to have it—hope you don't mind."
"Wait..." Kaia hesitated.
"If you don't take it, that means you don't like it and don't want to be my friend," Penny insisted.
With Penny putting it that way, Kaia had no choice but to accept the necklace.
Andrea sneered inwardly. 'In the end, Kaia only got one birthday present. How pathetic. But mine are piled up high and can fill a car trunk. I'm the star today. No way I'm letting her steal my thunder.'
Just then, the sound of fireworks erupted outside. And judging by the sound, it was quite a big display.
Everyone was curious and made their way outside.
They were greeted by the sight of countless fireworks lighting up the night sky.
"Wow! That's amazing! Who's the rich guy spending so much money on all these fireworks?" someone exclaimed.
Just as the voice faded, the fireworks in the sky formed a line of words: "Happy Birthday, Kaia."
All eyes turned to Kaia in surprise.
She herself was momentarily stunned.
Seeing her reaction, everyone realized she had no idea what was going on either.
"Maybe it's for someone else with the same name," someone guessed.
Andrea secretly let out a sigh of relief. That gave her quite a scare, because she thought someone had spent a fortune to give Kaia a grand gift.
"Wow, Kaia, talk about luck. Even though those fireworks weren't meant for you, since they have the same name and birthday as you, you can just treat them as yours," Andrea said with a smirk.
Before Kaia could say anything, Penny cut in. "Andrea, can you stop being so disgusting? I'm about to throw up. I used to think you were impressive—getting into that top school and being so talented—but I never thought you'd be this awful.
"Your family doesn't give Kaia a gift, and now you're telling her to just pretend those fireworks are for her? Ugh, I can't even talk to you right now."
The crowd around them started muttering and criticizing Andrea.
"I was just saying. Besides, I did prepare a gift for Kaia." Andrea pointed to her own pile of presents and said to Kaia, "Go ahead, take whichever one you like. You can take them all if you want. But the ones Louis gave me… I can't give those to you, sorry."
'Hmph, keep them for yourself. I'm not short on gifts,' Kaia thought, glancing at the time. She had an agreement with Owen to celebrate her birthday at midnight, and it was only a little past seven, so there was no rush.
At that moment, a fleet of Bentleys pulled up in front of them. Dozens of bodyguards in suits stepped out, each holding a bouquet of bright red roses, and walked in perfect formation toward Kaia and the others.
The whole crowd was completely baffled by the spectacle.
But Kaia instantly recognized the man in sunglasses leading the group.
It was Devin.
Louis's father, Logan Ross, stepped forward and asked, "May I ask what brings you here?"
Devin replied, "We're here to celebrate Miss Bennett's birthday."
'Miss Bennett? Which one? Andrea?' everyone wondered.
Andrea happily walked forward, giving Kaia a smug look along the way.
She reached out toward Devin, ready to take the roses.
