"Grandpa, I don't agree!" Tobias said firmly, his lips pressed into a thin line.
"Does your opinion even matter? Can't you see she's already made up her mind? If you keep pushing this, aren't you afraid you'll just ruin things between you two?" Keaton said.
"No matter what, I'll never agree!" Tobias insisted.
Keaton said, "I'm calling the shots here. From today on, you and Kaia are no longer engaged. And since you're so useless, don't stay in this house anymore, and you don't need to come to the company either.
"Wherever she goes, you'll follow her. If you run out of money and can't even feed yourself, just cling to her. She can afford to support you. When she finally decides to accept you, then you can come back."
Tobias's eyes lit up, and he turned to look at Devin.
"Go tell my dad that Grandpa just fired me. He'll be running the company for the time being," he said.
After saying that, he looked toward the butler. "Go pack my things. I'm leaving with her."
Seeing that Tobias was actually serious, Kaia rolled her eyes in exasperation and thought, 'What's wrong with these two? So childish. Can't they just stop messing around?'
"You want to come with me? Did I ever say you could?" Kaia questioned.
"Doesn't matter. If you don't let me in, I'll just sleep outside your door. My grandpa already kicked me out, and I have nowhere else to go," Tobias replied, looking like he was determined to get his way.
"That's right, Tobias. From now on, you stick with her. I've frozen all your cards. If she ignores you, just starve yourself in front of her." Keaton said slowly.
Kaia let out a long sigh and said, "Alright, I'll stay for now. But the moment I find a better place, I'm out of here. That's as much as I'm willing to compromise."
Keaton and Tobias grinned at each other and left it at that.
Just then, Kaia's phone buzzed. It was a call from Penny.
"Hello?" Kaia answered.
"Kaia, are you free?" Penny asked.
"What's up?" Kaia replied.
"I want to ask you out for shopping." In truth, Penny wanted to take Kaia out to clear her mind. After everything that had happened the previous day, Penny reckoned Kaia must be feeling down.
"I..." Kaia hesitated.
"Don't tell me you're busy. Today is my birthday, remember? I think I mentioned it to you yesterday. I gave you a birthday gift, and for my birthday, all I want is for you to spend time with me. No problem, right?" Penny whined.
Since Penny had put it that way, Kaia couldn't refuse.
"Okay, where to?" she asked.
Penny said, "Let's meet at Britera Pedestrian Walk."
Before long, the two arrived at the place.
"Did you sleep well last night?" Penny asked cautiously.
"Yeah. Very well, I slept soundly," Kaia replied.
She was telling the truth. Lincoln and his family had finally kicked her out and cut her off for good. Honestly, it felt like a huge weight had finally been lifted after all these years.
"Ugh, you always keep everything to yourself, don't you?" Penny sighed.
Penny didn't believe for a second that Kaia was okay. Kaia's parents had doted on someone else's child, even kicking her out in front of everyone. On top of that, her fiancé had gotten engaged to that same girl. That was a serious double blow.
"No, I'm not. I actually feel like a huge weight's been lifted," Kaia said.
"Alright, enough with the sad stuff. It's my birthday, so I'm treating you! Just grab anything you like. It's on me. Come on, let's hit that mall!" Talking as she walked, Penny dragged Kaia straight to the third floor of the mall.
"Do you know anything about this store?" Penny asked, pointing at a brand called Kaye Bella.
