You are sitting on your cot, feeling empty. Literally. Only one week ago, you were carrying your precious baby. Kurapika's baby. Now that you have given birth, your womb is uninhabited. You miss her constant kicking and hiccups.
Physically, you're surprised at how fast you are healing. Even though Baby Kurta was a small baby, you were barely able to walk when you came back to prison. Mentally, you are experiencing "baby blues." However, you know it is more than hormones that is causing your sadness.
You haven't heard from Kurapika since you saw him at the hospital. You're not surprised. Prison isn't exactly a place to bring a newborn. Still, a video chat would be nice.
You wonder how Kurapika is adjusting to fatherhood.
Did he move into a house? Will he accept help from his friends?
You don't even know what he decided to name your baby girl.
I'm sure he gave her a beautiful name. I wonder if she has gotten any bigger.
Tears fill your eyes. You pull your knees close to your chest and allow yourself to cry. This is how you've been spending most of your time.
From the corner of your eye, you notice a guard staring at you.
"Why are you so sad, beautiful?" he asks.
You ignore him. He must be new since this is the first time you've seen him. Or maybe not. You don't pay attention to anyone here. He insists on talking to you.
"A girl as pretty as you shouldn't cry so much."
Please...stop talking to me.
Meanwhile, Kurapika is in his new home located in a beautiful neighborhood. It looks like a house you would find flipping through the pages of a home and garden magazine. Steps lead up to a lovely porch. There is also a big backyard, perfect for a jungle gym. It is definitely a change from the rundown locations he is used to staying in while hunting.
Kurapika is rocking his baby in her nursery. His eyes are half open. He has not been able to get much sleep since bringing the baby home. His half-buttoned shirt is stained with spit up, his slacks are wrinkled, and his hair is disheveled. He could use a nice hot shower and a change of clothes. Everytime he attempts to take a shower, his daughter starts to scream. She is already spoiled, only content when she is in her father's arms.
She finally drifts off to sleep. Kurapika places her in the bassinet, gently. He slowly releases her while begging her to stay asleep for more than five minutes. He watches her sleep. A soft smile forms on his face.
She is the most beautiful baby in the world.
Kurapika grabs the baby monitor as he makes a run for the bathroom. He turns on the shower before quickly undressing himself. As soon as the temperature is to his liking, he steps in. His muscles relax as the hot water beats on him. His mind is at ease. He allows his thoughts to wander. This past week has been challenging.
He starts to think about the future. As a hunter, he makes more than enough to provide for his daughter. However, despite what his best friend says, money can't buy happiness. What he wants most for his daughter is a family. One that includes you.
Maybe money can buy happiness. I'll speak to (Y/N)'s lawyer. I want her out. No matter the cost.
After rinsing the soap from his body, Kurapika forces himself to get out of the calming shower. He wraps a towel around his waist. He walks to his closet and pulls on a fresh pair of slacks and a button up shirt. Much to his delight, Baby Kurta is still sleeping. He stares at her for a few minutes before calling your lawyer.
The next week, you are sitting in your usual pose, with your knees against your chest. The emptiness is becoming unbearable. You need to speak to Kurapika. You need to see your daughter.
You slowly get up to ask one of the guards permission to call Kurapika.
"Sure thing, beautiful! Just follow me." says the guard who has been eyeing you all week.
He takes out his keys to free you. You don't feel comfortable following him, but you quickly dismiss the feeling. You just want to talk to Kurapika.
He stops in front of a small office. He opens the door.
"There's a phone in here."
The two of you walk into the room. It's dark inside. You can hear him locking the door. Your heart suddenly starts to pound in fear. He walks close behind you. A chill runs up your spine as you feel his arms wrap around you.
"Be a good girl and cooperate. If you don't, I'll make sure your life here will be worse than hell." he explains as he tightens his grip around you.
You are paralyzed with fear. You attempt to scream, but your mouth is suddenly dry.
Seconds later, there is a knock on the door.
"Dammit!" shouts the guard as he releases you.
You fall to the floor, relieved.
"Have you seen (Y/N)? There is a hunter here who would like to see her." the officer at the door asks.
A hunter?
"Yeah, she's right here. I was just allowing her to make a phone call." the guard answers with a lie.
You get up from the floor. You run to the door, breathing rapidly.
Your heart skips a beat. Kurapika is standing in the hall. His eyes widen as soon as he sees you.
"(Y/N)?" he asks, noticing the look of fear that is still in your eyes.
"Ku...Kurapika?" you ask, surprised to see him.
Your first instinct is to jump into his arms, the safest place in the world. Your breathing immediately starts to regulate once he wraps his arms around you. No one can harm you now.
"Oh, Kurapika..." you want to tell him what just happened, but you feel embarrassed.
"What's wrong, (Y/N)?" he asks. He can sense something is bothering you.
"Uh...it's nothing." you answer. You look into his worried eyes. "What are you doing here? How is our daughter?"
"You mean the world's most beautiful baby? She's wonderful. Leorio is watching her. How are you?"
You bury your face into Kurapika's chest. "Oh, Kurapika. It's awful here."
"Well, I'm working on getting you out. Just give me a little more time."
"Really?" you ask. You were only expecting Kurapika to give you an update on your daughter. You didn't know he was trying to get you out of completing your five-year sentence.
"Yes. Scarlet needs her mother."
"Scarlet?"
"Our daughter. Named after one of the seven most beautiful colors in the world."
"I love it." you say with a smile.
"I knew you would."
Another week passes. You have been in better spirits ever since your visit from Kurapika. You sit on the floor, but this time, you aren't crying. You finally have a smile on your face.
"(Y/N), come here, please."
Your smile fades away as soon as you recognize that voice. It's the guard from last week.
"I refuse." you say without looking in his direction.
"It's about your daughter."
You immediately stand up. You grab onto the bars while looking at the guard.
"What do you mean? Is she okay?"
He gives you a sorry expression. "Follow me."
He walks you down the same hallway. This time, he passes the office. You are starting to get suspicious. He opens the door to what appears to be a cleaning closet. He throws you inside.
After locking the door behind him, he grabs your arms. He pushes you against the wall. He pins your wrists above your head.
He tricked me. And I was stupid enough to fall for it.
You attempt to fight him off.
"Don't touch me! I'll report you to Kurapika!"
"You think I'm afraid of that useless hunter?"
"You should be. He's the toughest hunter out there!"
Your heart rate increases as adrenaline runs through your veins.
I will not allow this bastard to take advantage of me!
You look around for something, anything, you can use as a weapon. You take a deep breath before summoning every ounce of strength in your body to free yourself from his grip. As soon as you are free, you grab a bottle of bleach from the shelf. You spray it in his face before pounding him with a broomstick.
You slowly open your eyes. You find yourself inside an empty room. Alone. They have placed you in solitary confinement. Through the door, you can hear Kurapika. You quickly get up. He is arguing with the guards. It appears they are giving him a hard time seeing you.
"Kurapika!" you scream as you pound on the door.
Tears stream down your face.
Minutes later, they allow Kurapika in to see you. You immediately grab him. You scream into his chest. He allows you to cry for a minute before pulling you away.
"(Y/N)? What have you done? Why are you in solitary confinement?"
You can see the concern in Kurapika's eyes.
"Please be honest with me. I'm trying my best to get you out of here." he continues.
Your lower lip trembles as you stare at Kurapika.
"Kurapika..."
You tell Kurapika about the guard.
He is lost for words. He stares at nothing. You can see a hint of deep crimson through his black contacts.
"Kurapika?"
He walks away from you.
"I'll kill him. I'll kill the bastard with my bare hands." he says before leaving the cell.
You are alone again. You feel a wave of nausea as you think about how Kurapika is going to handle this situation.
Moments later, Kurapika comes back into the room. He smiles at you. You stare back at him, in shock. His suit is covered in blood.
What has he done?
You are back in your original cell. Kurapika had gone in a different direction while you were being released from solitary confinement. You look out to where the guards are standing, listening for any clues as to what happened. Two of them are having a conversation. It sounds like they are talking about Kurapika.
"Can you believe the nerve of that hunter? Walking in as if he owns the place." one guard asks.
"Yeah. They allow it though. But it's only because he's a hunter."
"Hey, we should get one of those fancy licenses. Then we could get away with murder too."
Murder? No. As much as that guard deserved it, Kurapika wouldn't have just killed him out of anger.
It is noisy in your cell, as always. However, you can't hear anything. There is an eerie ringing in your ears. Another wave of nausea hits you. One of your cellmates walks towards you. You don't see her, even though she is standing directly in front of you.
"Hey, girl!"
You don't respond. She punches your shoulder to get your attention. You finally look at her.
"What?"
"You wanna know what happened to that fuckable hunter, don't ya?"
"You know what happened to Kurapika?" you ask as your eyes widen.
"Sure do. But the information will cost you."
"Anything! I'll give you anything! Just tell me what happened to Kurapika!"
"I want some of that extra stuff you've been getting from the canteen."
"You can have it all...just tell me!"
She smiles at you, content with the deal you two just made.
"So we're all hangin' around, the usual, when all of a sudden, we hear yelling. It's Blondie, loud as hell. He starts to beat down that pervert. Happened right in front of us. It was fuckin' awesome." she explains with a smile.
"So Kurapika didn't kill him?"
"Don't know. Blondie grabbed the bastard's neck, threw him on the ground, and started punching him in the face. Blood was everywhere." she looked in the direction to where it all happened. "Blondie just wouldn't stop. Sayin' shit like, You don't deserve to live and I hope you rot in hell."
She shrugged her shoulders. "Who knows? I can tell you one thing though...none of the other guards got involved. Like they were scared or something. Useless fuckers. Anyway, I'm glad your man did what he did. He's a hero to all us women stuck in here."
Yes. That is exactly what Kurapika is...a hero.
The next day, Kurapika approaches the cell. All of your cellmates begin to clap loudly, for Kurapika had done them a favor by beating that guard. You had learned shortly after your conversation with your cellmate that this particular guard had been making moves on a few of the inmates.
"Kurapika!" you shout as you run towards him. He has a sad expression on his face. "Ku...rapika?"
He forces a smile. "It's time to go home."
You can't believe your ears. "What?"
Kurapika walks away while one of the guards releases you.
After meeting with the parole officer, you change into the clothes Kurapika brought in for you.
Kurapika walks you to his car. He takes your hand into his.
The two of you walk quietly through the parking lot. You notice he gently squeezes your hand before releasing it to open the car door for you. He straps your seatbelt, making sure it is securely fastened.
Kurapika hops in the driver's seat. You hear the roar of the engine as he presses the ignition button. It is definitely the car of a hunter. You look behind, remembering the last time you were in his car. You quickly notice the carseat. Your heart warms as you think about seeing your baby again.
Kurapika drives off. He is deep in thought as he drives, going over the speed limit. You watch as he adjusts his sunglasses, offering you a soft smile when he notices you staring at him. You blush before turning your head to look out the window. You have no idea where you will now be living.
The two of you cross a bridge that overlooks the river. He is driving towards the ocean.
Where are we going?
Kurapika pulls into a small parking lot across from the beach. He turns off his engine. You notice the silence.
Kurapika takes off his sunglasses. He sighs.
"I know you are in a hurry to see Scarlet. Trust me, I want you to see her. However, I feel like we need to talk first."
"Uh...sure."
Kurapika helps you out of the car. It's midday. The sun is at its highest, making it hot outside. You watch as Kurapika pulls off his blazer. His muscles are visible through his white shirt. He throws his blazer in the backseat before shutting the door.
The two of you cross the road and take the wooden stairs that lead to the beach. You walk in silence for a few minutes. He takes a deep breath before speaking.
"(Y/N), I want you to know that I'm not a murderer. I'm sure you heard about the incident yesterday. Please know...I did not kill that man. I simply taught him a lesson he'll never forget." he explains. He walks a little further before continuing. "I'm not going to lie...I wanted to kill him."
You glance his way. A pod of pelicans fly over the two of you. He places his hand on his forehead as he looks down.
"All I could think about was Scarlet. Why must she live in a world where scum like that exists? I was enraged. I just couldn't stop punching him."
"What made you stop?"
"Scarlet. I want to be the father she deserves. Not a murderous monster."
"You're anything but that."
Kurapika stops walking. He grabs both of your hands.
"What about you? How are you holding up?"
"I guess I'm still in shock. Nothing feels real."
"I'm sorry."
"No, Kurapika. I'm the one who's sorry. I've ruined your life with my lies!"
"You ruined my life? On the contrary, you gave my life meaning."
"Thank you for giving me a second chance."
Kurapika smiles at you. He cups your cheek with his right hand. You close your eyes and kiss his hand. The taste of metal lingers on your lips.
"Are you ready to see your daughter?"
"Yes! But there's something I want to do first."
"What's that?" he asks, confused.
You run towards the ocean, allowing the salty air to hit your face. Kurapika runs after you.
"What are you doing?"
"Freedom!" you shout as you jump in the air. This is the first time in almost a year since you've been out of prison walls.
Kurapika catches you. He spins you around before allowing his lips to fall on yours. You part your lips while closing your eyes. Just hours ago, you were behind bars thinking you'd spend the next five years in prison. Now, you are standing on the beach, being kissed by the love of your life. Your hero. The man who will always defend your honor.
An hour later, Kurapika pulls into his driveway. You gasp as you look at your new home. You open your door as soon as he puts the car in park.
"Wait!" he shouts while holding you back with his arm.
"What is it? I want to see Scarlet!"
He points to the glove compartment. "Open it."
You give Kurapika a confused look before opening the glove compartment. The little black box is still there. You slowly take it out.
"Kurapika..." you whisper as you open the box. Tears fill your eyes as you stare at the scarlet-colored engagement ring. You turn to face Kurapika.
"(Y/N), I never stopped loving you. That is why I hired that lawyer in the first place. The day they took you to jail was the worst day of my life. My heart broke into pieces. I lied to myself everyday...I wanted to hate you. I know that sounds harsh, but I don't want to withhold the truth from you." He clears his throat, as if trying to hold back tears. "I fell back into my old habits. I ignored my friends. I used work as a distraction. It didn't work. Then one night, I got down on my knees and prayed for a sign. That was minutes before I received the call from the social worker."
A teardrop falls off your cheek. You hold Kurapika's hand.
"That was my sign. I ignored it right away, which is why I left you that letter. Those sleepless nights taking care of our newborn were spent thinking about you. I forgive you, (Y/N)."
Kurapika takes the box from you. He takes the ring out.
"Will you marry me?"
Is this really happening?
"(Y/N)?" he asks, anxiously waiting for your answer.
"Yes, Kurapika! Of course I'll marry you!"
You watch as Kurapika, who now has a big smile on his face, slips the ring on your left ring finger.
"I promise...I'll never break your heart again. You can stab me with your judgment chain."
"I would never do that."
You stare at the beautiful ring on your finger.
"I love you, Kurapika."
"I love you, too. Now let's go meet your daughter!" exclaims Kurapika while opening the car door.
He runs to your side and pulls you out of the car. He carries you up the steps that lead to the front door. He opens the door and carries you over the threshold. You can't stop laughing.
"We're not married yet!"
"I know, but it's your first time entering this house."
Kurapika gently places you down in the foyer. The two of you remove your shoes before walking to the living room. You look around in awe.
How did Kurapika manage to make this a home in such a short time?
A familiar voice calls out from the nursery.
"Kurapika? Is that you?"
"Yes, Leorio. Who else were you expecting?"
Leorio walks out of the nursery while holding your baby. She's sleeping.
"How long has she been sleeping?" Kurapika asks.
"I dunno. An hour?"
"Leorio, we talked about this. You need to put her in the bassinet as soon as she falls asleep. She is going to get used to us holding her."
"I know...I know. I'm sorry. She's just too darn cute." Leorio answers while kissing Kurapika's baby.
"Now hand her over. (Y/N) has waited long enough."
Leorio hesitates before handing you your baby. Tears immediately fall from your cheeks as you stare at the sleeping newborn.
"She's so beautiful!" you exclaim.
Scarlet slowly opens her eyes. Kurapika smiles.
"She recognizes your voice."
"You think so?" you ask in amazement. "Hello, Scarlet Kurta." You can't take your eyes off of her. You walk around the living room, ignoring everything else around you.
Kurapika and Leorio watch as you reunite with your daughter. Leorio places his hand on Kurapika's shoulder.
"Are you sure you did the right thing?"
"I've never been more certain of anything." Kurapika answers with a smile.
"Then I'm happy for you."
"(Y/N), my beautiful wife. I am in an ineffable euphoria as you envelop me with your warmth. This feels so much better than before, now that we share the same name." says Kurapika while you slowly move yourself up and down the length of his manhood.
It's your wedding night. You are spending it in a bed and breakfast on the beach. The French doors that lead to the beach are open, allowing a cool breeze to blow through the room. The moonlight casts a soft white glow over your new husband's bare chest.
Kurapika gently cups your breasts with his hands. The sensation of his strong hands against your delicate skin brings you close to climaxing. You push your pelvis hard against him.
As much as Kurapika doesn't want you to stop, he doesn't want you to climax just yet. He pulls you down and flips you over so he is on top of you.
"Not yet, my love."
You run your hands down Kurapika's back. The weight of him on your body makes you feel safe. You are finding it difficult to breathe as he runs his tongue over your collarbone and up your neck. Your skin erupts in goosebumps as you feel his hot breath against your ear. He claims your mouth, exploring every corner. He breaks the kiss. He stares into your eyes as if he's trying to read your soul.
"I love you, Mrs. Kurta."
"How much?"
Kurapika begins to move inside you. He starts slow. You wrap one of your legs around him, wanting more.
Kurapika reaches back down to kiss your earlobe.
"Spread your legs wider. I'm about to show you how much I love you." he whispers.
You obey. Kurapika pulls himself out of you.
"No...Kurapika...please don't stop." you beg, almost in tears.
"Shh..."
Kurapika plunges himself deep inside of you. You let out a scream as he moves in and out. He finds the perfect rhythm. Slow...fast...slow. He pulls away one more time before giving you one hard thrust.
The pleasure is too intense. You can't hold it in any longer. You feel as if you are on the edge of a cliff. Kurapika continues with his movements, pushing you over the edge. Your stomach drops as you fall down, crashing into a pool of ecstasy.
You breathe heavily as you recover. Seconds later, Kurapika climaxes. He falls on top of you. You stroke his hair while he recovers. You smile.
"You must love me a lot."
"Yes. Simple words cannot describe it. That is why I prefer to express my love physically."
"I also prefer that."
Kurapika lifts himself off of you, leaving you cold. He wraps a sheet around you before helping you off of the bed. He walks you outside through the French doors. The two of you spend the next hour looking out to the ocean before coming back in to make love again.
