I sat in the middle of a gorgeous cafe. Burgundy curtains surrounded the quaint French-style restaurant. Bottles of wine were on full display behind the bar. I'm glad I decided to dress up for this meeting. Well, it's not exactly a meeting. It's a date. A...blind date. I don't like the sound of that. Do blind dates ever have a happy ending? I've never heard of any. Anyway, this wasn't my idea. A friend of mine insisted I'd meet this new doctor. I finally ran out of excuses so here I am.
I checked the time. Hmm...he's late. Already a bad sign. How long do you normally give them in these situations? It's a good thing I ordered a glass of wine. I needed something to calm my nerves.
I kept glancing at the entrance which consisted of two glass doors. It's not because I'm eager to meet him. I just want the stares to stop. I look like someone who just got stood up. And maybe I did. I'll give him five more minutes.
Someone stormed into the restaurant, almost falling over. What an idiot. He is talking to the hostess. Why is she pointing at me?
He's walking in my direction. Wait. He's tall. Very tall. He is wearing small round glasses and has black spiky hair. Just how my friend described. It was him...my blind date.
"Sorry I'm late...My shift just ended." He apologized while scratching the back of his head. He took a seat in front of me.
If he had to work then why didn't he schedule our date for another night? Bad sign number two.
"Nice to meet you. It's Leorio...right?" I reached out to shake his hand.
"Yep. And you are (Y/N)?" He shook my hand.
I nod. He's cute. And he smells really good. Let's see where this goes.
An hour passed and he was still talking about himself. He's had four glasses of wine. I've learned that besides being a doctor, he is also a hunter. He told me he drove a Mercedes-Benz and lived in a ritzy apartment. Like any of those things matter to me. He's nice, but we have nothing in common.
He ordered us dessert and another glass of wine. Our attention was turned to the entrance of the restaurant. There seemed to be some commotion going on outside. A man was thrown to the ground, face first, and handcuffed. Seconds later, we heard loud sirens. The criminal was arrested. The officer who had handcuffed the criminal walked inside of the restaurant. Except...he wasn't in uniform. He was wearing a suit. I stared. Not because I was being nosy, but because this man is...captivating. Did my jaw just drop? He was talking to the hostess. Leorio stood up. Did he notice me checking out this guy? No, he didn't. It appears he knows this mysterious man.
"Kurapika!" he yelled while waving.
Leorio knew him. Oh no...he's walking to our table. My mouth is still open. I'm probably drooling, but I can't seem to snap out of it. Leorio is cute, but this guy is...gorgeous. He's blonde and has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.
"Good evening, Leorio."
His voice is euphonious.
"What are you doing here?" Leorio asked.
"I came in to apologize for the disruption outside."
"Yeah, we saw how you caught that guy. Great job!"
"It's just a normal day. What are you doing here? I thought you were working tonight."
"I'm on my date! Meet (Y/N)! (Y/N)...meet Kurapika. He's my best friend and roommate."
Leorio's friend turned to look at me. I stood up. He reached to shake my hand. What is happening to me? I only had two glasses of wine so why does it feel like I'm about to topple over? He shook my hand. His grip is strong, yet gentle. He smiled at me.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, (Y/N)."
"You...you as well, Kurapika."
I felt disappointed when he released my hand. He turned his attention back to Leorio.
"Well...I'll leave you two alone."
"Where are you headed?" Leorio asked. His cell phone started to ring.
"Home. My work is done."
Leorio answered his phone. He looked aggravated. He started to yell through the phone.
Hmm...anger issues. Bad sign number three.
He put his phone back into his pocket. "Damn. Looks like I'm going to have to cut our date short. They want me back at work."
"But...weren't you drinking?" I asked, worried.
"Eh...nothing a bag of IV fluids can't fix." He turned to Kurapika. "Hey, do you mind walking (Y/N) home? I want to make sure she makes it home safely."
Kurapika looked at me. "Of course. I don't mind at all."
Leorio reached for my hand. I stood up, making sure I could balance myself. I gave him my hand. He gently kissed it.
"Well, it was a pleasure having dinner with you. I look forward to our next date."
He wants another date?
It was already dark outside. The city lights reminded me of a piece of artwork. Kurapika walked close beside me as if he was my bodyguard. He's quiet. I quickly glanced at him. The streetlights casted a soft glow on his perfect form, allowing me to see his features. He had a serious expression on his face. I wonder what he was thinking about.
The air was chilly. I should have brought a sweater with me. I crossed my arms in an attempt to block the wind.
"Are you cold?" Kurapika finally said something.
"Yeah. A little."
He took his blazer off. "Here. Take this."
He stopped to wrap it around me. I might die right now.
"Thank you."
He smiled. "How was your evening? Did you enjoy your date with Leorio?'
"I had a nice time. But to be honest, I don't think it's going to work out between us."
"Oh? You can already tell?"
"Yeah. We don't have anything in common."
"I'm sorry to hear that. He's a good guy once you get to know him."
"How long have you two been friends?"
"About eight years."
"Wow...that's a long time. How did you meet?"
"We took the hunter exam together."
"I see."
Oh...so he's a hunter. Makes sense.
Kurapika and I continued to talk. We actually had a lot in common. We read the same books and listened to the same music.
We walked up the stairs that lead to my apartment building. We stopped at the doorway. I didn't want our time together to end. My brain wouldn't stop fantasizing about what I wanted this hunter to do to me. I wanted him to come inside, throw me on my bed, and have his way with me. Or maybe we'd start in the elevator. Oh...the possibilities.
"(Y/N)?" Kurapika asked, snapping me back to reality.
The light from the lamp post reflected off his almost black eyes. I need to say something.
"Thank you for walking me home, Kurapika."
"No thanks necessary. I enjoyed our talk."
"Me too."
"Well, I'm sorry it isn't going to work out with Leorio. Please...let him down easy."
"I will."
"Good night, (Y/N)."
"Good night!"
I quickly ran up to my apartment to watch Kurapika walk away. Damn. I think I just lost my heart.
I slowly walked to my bathroom to change. I took my blazer off. Wait...this isn't my blazer...it's Kurapika's! I forgot to give it back to him. I smiled. Maybe this means I'll get to see him again.
That night, I dreamt of Kurapika.
The next day, I made sure to call Leorio to tell him it wasn't going to work out between us. Surprisingly, he took it well. Maybe he felt the same way.
"Oh...Kurapika loaned me his blazer. I forgot to give it back."
"No problem. We can meet somewhere. Give it to me...I'll make sure he gets it."
"Actually...I'd like to give it back to him myself. Will he be home later?"
"Not sure. The truth is, Kurapika is always on the go. Sometimes for days."
"Is he home now?"
"Yeah."
"Text me your address. I'll bring it by now."
Leorio texted me his address as soon as I hung up. They don't live far from me. I checked my makeup before grabbing the blazer and racing out the door.
It took what seemed like forever to get a taxi. I stood in front of their extravagant apartment building for a few minutes before walking in. My heart was pounding. Not even a day has passed and I'm already infatuated with Kurapika.
I gently knocked on their door. I took a deep breath. My heart began to pound again as soon as I heard someone unlocking the door.
"Hey, (Y/N)! Come on in!" Leorio greeted me with a smile.
"Thank you."
I took my shoes off at the foyer. I looked around the luxurious apartment. They have some pictures on the wall. Most of them include Leorio and Kurapika with two younger looking guys. Good. No pictures of Kurapika with another woman.
"Would you like something to drink?"
"Um...no, thank you. I'd just like to give this back to Kurapika."
"He just stepped out."
What the hell?
"Oh. Do you know when he'll be back?" I tried to hide my frustration.
"Soon. He just had to pick something up from the convenient store. You can just leave his jacket here."
"Uh...that's okay. I don't mind waiting."
"Okay. Umm...make yourself at home." He points to the couch.
"Thank you."
I took a seat on the brown leather couch. Leorio sat in a recliner in front of me. This was awkward. Thankfully, we weren't alone for long. Kurapika walked in seconds later. I watched as he carefully placed his keys on the key holder. He took his shoes off before walking to the living room. He was wearing a nice white shirt and black slacks. Perfection.
He jumped back a little as soon as he saw me.
"Oh...I wasn't expecting company. (Y/N), right? Have you decided to give Leorio another shot?"
He remembered my name.
"Oh, no! I actually came by to return your blazer. Thank you for allowing me to borrow it." I stood up to hand him his blazer.
"How thoughtful. You didn't have to go out of your way to return it though." Our hands briefly touched while he took it from me.
"It was on my way." I lied.
I glanced over to Leorio. He was staring at us.
"You know what?" he asked while standing up from the recliner. "You two look good together. Kurapika, why don't you ask (Y/N) out?"
I felt myself blush. I wasn't expecting that at all. I could tell Kurapika was just as shocked. He stared at me with widened eyes. Those beautiful eyes! Please...say yes.
"Uh...uh...I'd love to...however, I don't have time to date."
"Don't be ridiculous, Kurapika! You're here now, aren't you? Take her to lunch."
"Umm...(Y/N)? Would you like to have lunch with me?"
"Yes! I mean...sure. That sounds nice."
I'm going to fast forward to six months later. Kurapika and I were still dating. Everything about him is perfect. He's so sweet...a real gentleman. He's also a little jealous, which I find adorable. If other men glance at me, Kurapika makes sure they know who I belong to.
Only two problems. First...he works a lot. Leorio was right. Sometimes he is gone for days. And it's not like I could just pick up the phone to ask how he's doing. Most of his missions are confidential. I don't like his job, but I knew that going in. He's been a hunter since he was seventeen. It's all he knows.
Second, he hasn't kissed me yet. Did I tell you it's been six months? There were moments where I thought he might, but then...nothing. Maybe it's against his religion? But...if he was religious, wouldn't he have mentioned it?
That night, he took me out. He told me there was something important he had to ask me. I was nervous the entire time. He sensed it.
"(Y/N)...relax. You needn't worry about anything. I'm not going anywhere." He wrapped his arm around my waist as we walked to our table at the restaurant.
He pulled out the chair for me. He smiled at me as soon as he sat down across from me. After ordering, he reached out for my hands. Here goes.
"(Y/N), there is something I'd like to ask you." He reached into his pocket while still holding one of my hands. He placed an envelope on the table. "I have decided to take a few weeks off. Leorio says I need a vacation. I booked a trip for two at this magnificent beach. Would you like to accompany me?"
I reached out to take the envelope. I gasped as soon as I saw the pictures of the resort.
"Kurapika? This place looks amazing! Of course...I'd love to accompany you."
He smiled at me.
The next week, I started packing for my trip with Kurapika. I had no idea what to pack! Well, more specifically, I didn't know what to pack as far as sleepwear. Will we be sharing a bed?
We arrived early at the resort. After putting our bags away, he took me on a boat ride. It was the most amazing experience of my life! I've never seen water so blue before. I looked out to the ocean. Dolphins were swimming in the distance. I felt Kurapika grab my waist from behind. His lips almost touched my ear.
"Those are my favorite." he whispered, referring to the dolphins.
His hot breath sent chills up my spine. His lips were so close to mine. All I had to do was turn my face a little. Do I dare?
Kurapika brushed my hair to the side with his fingers, exposing my neck. I turned to face him. He looked down at me, staring at my lips. Will he finally kiss me?
The salty wind was blowing against us. His hair was moist and tousled. His lips parted. I licked my lips in anticipation. His hands were still on my waist. He pulled me close. I felt the rhythm of his heart. This is it...the moment I've been waiting for.
I closed my eyes while wrapping my arms around his neck. I felt his breath against my lips. Butterflies fluttered inside my stomach while I patiently waited. And waited.
I suddenly felt his lips brush against my ear.
"(Y/N), thank you for accompanying me on this trip. My hope is that you have a great time."
My eyes shot wide open. He didn't kiss me.
That evening, after a nice dinner, we headed up to our hotel room. The spacious suite looked like an apartment. Floor to ceiling windows provided us with the perfect view of the ocean. There were two massive bedrooms and one bathroom. In the middle of the bathroom was a hot tub. My mind drifted and I imagined being in there with Kurapika.
"How do you like it?" Kurapika asked, interrupting my thoughts.
"I love it!"
He smiled. "Take whichever room you'd like."
Separate rooms?
Later that night, we shared a bottle of champagne out on the balcony. I was hoping the alcohol would make him talk. I needed to know where our relationship was headed.
Kurapika stretched out on the Adirondack chair. He started sipping his champagne.
"So this is what it feels like to relax."
"When was the last time you took a vacation?"
"Hm...never."
"Never?"
Kurapika finished his glass. I finished mine as well. He noticed.
"Would you like another?"
I could tell he was already tipsy by the way he was stumbling. He's adorable.
"Sure."
He poured us each another glass.
"Kurapika?" I asked as he handed me my glass.
"Yes?"
"Why did you invite me here?"
"Who else would I want to spend my vacation with?" He asked as he sat back in his chair.
"I don't know. It's just that we've been dating for six months and..."
"And I haven't kissed you yet."
I stared at him with widened eyes. Kurapika just read my mind. He pushed his chair closer to mine.
"(Y/N)...you're very special to me."
"But?"
"But...the truth is...I...I'm scared."
"Scared of what?" I asked, confused.
Kurapika didn't answer. Instead, he looked down at his glass.
"Kurapika? What are you scared of?"
"Of falling in love again." He answered, not meeting my gaze.
"Again?"
He nods.
"Kurapika...who were you in love with?"
"A woman named Arisu. We were together for a little over a year. Everything was going great, or so I thought. I built up the courage to confess my love to her. I made the evening special. Flowers, dinner, music at the park...everything a woman desires. I finally said those three words, we made love, and she was gone the next morning. I never saw her again."
"Oh, Kurapika." I placed my hand on his thigh. "Did you ever find out why she left?"
"Eventually. Turns out she had been seeing someone else. Thus, leaving me with a fragile heart."
Who could possibly hurt Kurapika?
"I'm sorry."
"For what? She wasn't the one for me. Besides, she has somehow led me to you."
I wanted to punch Arisu in the face and hug her at the same time. Kurapika is mine now. I'll mend his heart and protect it always. I moved closer to him, our foreheads almost touching. My head is spinning. I'm not sure if it's due to the champagne or the fact that I am this close to Kurapika. The wind blew his scent in my direction. Damn. He smells amazing. He ran his hand up my arm.
"(Y/N). I am not going to kiss you now. As much as I want to...we...we have been drinking."
"I understand."
I really didn't. I mean...we had two glasses of champagne. That's not enough to impair my ability to make decisions. I wrapped my arms around his neck, not wanting to pull away just yet.
"Kurapika...you are incredible. Do you know that?"
"I'm far from perfect. Which is probably why Arisu eliminated me from her life."
I suddenly felt a tinge of jealousy. Hearing him say another woman's name made me uneasy. I pulled away, not hiding the look of disgust from my face. He noticed.
"(Y/N), forgive me. This is not how I intended to spend our evening. I don't even know why I brought her up. I talk a lot when I drink. I'm sorry."
A wave of nausea came over me. Was I his rebound?
"Are you over her?"
"That was a year ago. Of course I'm over her. In fact, this is the first time I spoke her name since she left."
He reached over to caress my cheek.
"My lovely (Y/N), there is nothing to worry about. I care deeply about you."
"And I care about you, Kurapika."
"Let's forget about the past. I've allowed it to haunt me for most of my life. I'm ready to focus on the future."
"And the present."
"Right."
The next day was filled with fun activities. I saw Kurapika's athletic side as we hiked, surfed, and played beach volleyball.
We laughed all the way back to our suite.
"You're not seriously trying to convince me that it was your first time surfing! You caught that wave like it was nothing!" I gently punched him.
"I swear! It must have been beginner's luck!" He unlocks the door.
I love his laugh. This may sound cliche, but it sounds better than my favorite song.
I couldn't sleep that night. My thoughts of Kurapika wouldn't allow me to. I tossed and turned until I heard my door knob turning.
I faced the door. I gasped as soon as I saw Kurapika's silhouette against the door. I quickly sat up to turn on the bedside lamp. There he was...walking slowly towards me. He was wearing royal blue pajama pants and a white tee-shirt. His blonde hair looked disheveled. It drove me crazy how sexy he looked.
"(Y/N)? Are you having trouble sleeping as well?"
"Y...yes."
He sat next to me. My stomach immediately felt hollow and my breathing became rapid. He placed his hand on top of mine.
"You look beautiful."
I wanted to compliment him back, but I was too mesmerized by the way he was looking at me. I've never craved anything so badly in my life.
"Are you alright?"
Kurapika must have sensed my nervousness. He ran his hand up my arm.
"Come here, my heavenly angel."
He pulled me close to his body. His scent. It's intoxicating. He pulled down the strap to my nightgown. I watched as his fingers made their way back down my arm. I looked back at his perfect face. He met my gaze, lips parted. I wanted to scream, kiss me already, but I waited patiently for him.
He gently cupped my cheek with his hand. He moved in closer, our faces only inches apart. The butterflies were fluttering at full speed inside of my stomach. I closed my eyes, feeling his hot breath against my lips. I took a deep breath, breathing him in. His soft lips met mine. After six months, we were finally sharing our first kiss. He gently tugged my lower lip with his teeth before parting my lips with his tongue.
Kurapika's tongue intertwined with mine. His taste matched his scent, a mixture of musk, vanilla, and...chains.
He placed his hand behind my head in order to deepen the kiss. We explored every corner of each other's mouths.
Minutes later, we broke away for air.
"Kurapika..." I panted.
He reached into the pocket of his pants. My eyes widened as I saw him pull out a condom. He gave me a questioning expression, as if asking for consent.
"Yes! Yes!" I shouted, excitedly.
I tugged at the hem of his shirt. He raised his arms to allow me to pull it off of him. I stared at his bare chest. I traced his muscles with my fingertips. I felt warm liquid trickle down in between my legs.
Kurapika pulled down my other strap. His eyes widened in excitement when he saw my bare breasts, alert and ready for his attention. He cupped one with his hand and used his thumb to trace circles around my nipple. I threw my head back. A moan escaped my lips as I felt his mouth encircle my other breast.
Kurapika gently pushed me down on the bed. He pulled my gown off, leaving me in my panties. I closed my eyes, leaving his next move a surprise. He positioned himself on top of me, his mouth close to my ear. He nibbled my neck from my earlobe down to my throat. I ground myself against him. I reached out to touch him. He didn't allow it. Instead, in one quick motion, he took my wrists and pinned them above my head. Right...he's an experienced hunter. There's no point in fighting him. He pressed his lips against my earlobe again.
"Answer me...are you sure you want this?"
Was he serious? Didn't he see me quivering underneath him? Not only do I want this...I need this.
"(Y/N)!"
Oh...my hunter is getting impatient.
"Yes." I finally answered, voice hoarse.
"Tell me you want this...starting with my name."
"Kurapika...I want this."
"Want what?"
Damn. Did he want me to sign a contract?
"Kurapika...I want you to make love to me."
"That's better."
He released my wrists from his grip. I watched as he kissed my breasts and torso. He tugged at my panties. I lifted my hips as he pulled them down. He threw them on the floor. My legs parted. Warm liquid continued to trickle out of me. I felt slightly embarrassed as I noticed he was staring.
"You're perfect," he said.
My body immediately relaxed to the sound of his voice. The gorgeous blonde positioned himself in between my legs.
"Just...please...touch me." I moaned.
Kurapika spread my legs further apart. He reached down to kiss me. I loved the way his body felt against mine, skin to skin. He raised his right hand, conjuring his chains. What was he planning to do with those?
I wasn't nervous...I was actually excited to see how he would use his chains on me. He positioned himself back in between my legs. He lifted his ring finger, allowing a metal ball to drop. I watched in anticipation. Seconds later, I felt the cold metal ball enter me. I threw my head back and began to rock my hips. The weight of the ball against my inner walls gave me a new kind of pleasure. One I never knew existed. That was until Kurapika slid his finger gently over my folds. I almost screamed his name as he found my clit and began to rub it in small circles.
Kurapika kept his thumb over my clit as he reached down to kiss my sex. He stroked me with his tongue. His movements were long and slow. I pressed myself closer to his face. I couldn't take it any longer. The feeling of the heavy metal ball inside me along with his tongue moving up, down, and in...ah...it was pure ecstasy. I reached down and yanked his hair. The sweet ending was near. I came against his face, screaming his name.
My legs shook. Kurapika took his dowsing chain out of me. It was covered with my milky white fluid. His chains disappeared as he wiped his mouth clean with his fingers. He smiled at me.
Moments later, Kurapika was thrusting himself in and out of me. The sounds of our moans along with the creaking of the bed was most likely being heard by the guests in the other room. We didn't care. We were in utopia. Nothing else in the world mattered. Kurapika plunged harder into me until I shuddered against him, climaxing over and over again until my body could no longer take anymore.
I fell back onto the bed, breathing heavily. I watched as my sweaty hunter squeezed his eyes shut and clenched his jaw, moaning in pleasure. He fell on top of me after climaxing. After recovering, he kissed my lips. He rolled off of me, still breathing heavily.
"(Y/N)? Just so you know...I only do that when I'm in love."
I slowly turned my head to face him, eyes widened. What was he trying to tell me?
"Kurapika?"
"I...I love you."
I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I love you, too!"
Kurapika and I became inseparable. The only time we were apart was when he was hunting. Oh, I hated when he was hunting. My mind always imagined the worst. However, I knew Kurapika's strength. He was more than capable of completing his missions.
It was about a month after our vacation when Kurapika and I were enjoying a late lunch at an outdoor cafe. We almost had the place to ourselves since not many people eat at this time.
I stared into his eyes. I love this man so much. I take back what I said before about blind dates not working out. If I hadn't gone on that date with Leorio, I would have never met my Kurapika.
We got up to leave as soon as the dinner crowd started to come in. My fingers intertwined with Kurapika's as he held my hand.
"Where would you like to go now, my love?" "I like it when you read to me. That book is amazing. I can't wait to hear what happens next!"
"I'm delighted to hear that you're enjoying the book I picked out for you."
Kurapika stopped walking. He wrapped me in his arms before pressing his lips against mine. I totally surrendered myself to him. Time stood still as he slowly kissed me.
"I love you, my heavenly angel." He said after breaking the kiss.
"I love you, too."
He took my hand again and we continued to walk. Crowds filled the streets as the evening drew near. I noticed a woman kept staring at us from the corner of my eye. She started to walk towards us. She was about my height with long black hair. Her kimono-style dress wrapped perfectly around her slender body. She was gorgeous, like a Japanese doll.
"Kurapika?" she asked.
I looked at Kurapika...his eyes were widened, as if he was looking at a ghost. Sweat was forming on his forehead and his hands were trembling.
"A...Arisu?" He asked as he released my hand.
My heart dropped to my stomach as soon as I realized who this woman was. She's the bitch who broke Kurapika's heart.
It's been exactly two weeks. I stared out of my window. How ironic is it that it's raining...the gloomy weather matched my mood. I checked my phone for the thousandth time today.
I haven't heard from Kurapika since he walked away with Arisu that night. He hasn't returned any of my calls or texts. I couldn't take it anymore! I gripped my sheets. Out of anger and pain, I ripped them off of my bed. My vision went blurry as I completely demolished my bedroom. I fell to the floor, hot tears streaming down my cheeks. Dammit...they don't make a pill for this pain...do they?
