I look down at my hands. Warm red fluid covers them. Blood. Where is it coming from? And...does it belong to me?
The wind blows through my hair as I soar through the night sky. I rest my cheek against the scales of my beautiful dragon. Without her, I'd still be stuck inside that miserable castle.
After my parents, the King and Queen, invaded the Kingdom of Kurtacia, I planned my escape. I ripped my luxurious gowns to make them appear shabby. I pulled the hundred pins from my hair, shaking my locks free. Finally...no more headache. If I'm going to live the life of a peasant, I must look the part.
My dragon flew me as far away from my castle as she could. I can see the sun rise in the distance, changing the color of the sky to a deep shade of orange. Once she felt tired, she landed in a forest.
"Go on. Go...be free. I'll be fine. I promise." I say to her as I stroke the side of her face.
I can see the tears falling from her large pink eyes. She's the most faithful dragon a girl could ever wish for.
I feel my own tears falling down my cheeks as I watch her fly away. It's just me now.
I walk to a rather peculiar town. Peasants scurry about, placing goods on display to sell. The smell of freshly baked bread fills my nose. My stomach growls, reminding me it's time for breakfast. I'm suddenly aware I had servants back at home who brought me my meals. How does one go about getting food for themselves?
I keep walking, studying people as they purchase food. I wait in line, mimicking them.
"Good morning. What would you like?" the woman behind the stand says.
"I...uh...nevermind," I say.
My heart rate accelerates as I run away. I look back once I catch my breath. She continues to help others as if nothing ever happened. Why do I feel so scared? It's only another human...so why can't I simply talk to her?
I walk in the other direction. I decide to do without breakfast.
Children play while their parents shop. It brings a smile to my face knowing they are free to play with whoever they choose.
"Shall I help you with something?" a man behind me says.
I freeze. For a moment, I think about running away, finding my dragon, and going back home.
"Miss?" he says when I don't acknowledge him.
I take a deep breath. If I'm going to make it on my own, I need to be brave. I turn around, jumping back when our eyes meet. I never knew a man wearing tattered clothing could look this beautiful. His long, golden-hair is tied behind his head. He furrows his brow as he glares at me with his gray flying saucer eyes.
"Do you speak?" he says.
"Hmph." I scowl. How dare he insult me? "Of course I speak. Do you not know who I am?"
He shakes his head. "No." He extends his hand. "Please forgive me. I'm sorry if I've offended you. You appear lost."
I stare at his hand in front of me. What does he expect me to do with it? I take a step back and bow.
"You are forgiven."
He drops his hand to his side. "Are you new in town or just passing by?"
I bite my lip. "I...uh...don't know yet."
He stretches his arm behind his head. I watch as his muscles flex from beneath his shirt. "I see. You wish to remain mysterious. I respect that."
I study him, trying to find an imperfection. "What is your name?"
He lets out a laugh. "I wish to remain mysterious as well."
Is he playing with me? I should turn around and leave. But...something is keeping me from moving my legs. I can't stop looking into his eyes. I start to think about some of the horror stories I have read. Is he a vampire? Does he have me under his spell? No...the sun is glazing on his skin. Then...why can't I move? My stomach growls loudly. I smile. He doesn't have me compelled...I'm just hungry.
"You look famished. I'm still on break. I don't mind showing you where you can find something good to eat."
The feeling of joy overwhelms me. I don't think I've ever gone this long without a meal. "Really? You're offering to help a stranger?"
A confused look crosses his face. "Yes. That's what we do around here. What kind of place would this world be if we didn't help each other out?"
He creates an incredible sense of calm while he speaks. I walk closer to him. "I wish my parents shared your virtue. It sounds like your mother and father taught you well."
He winces. Did I offend him?
He wraps his arm around my waist. We both stare at each other, wide-eyed.
"I...I'm sorry." He pulls away.
I smile. "It's fine."
He places his hand back on my waist and we begin to walk.
It's not the first time a man touched my waist. We've hosted many balls back at the castle, and my mother would always force me to dance with high-class gentlemen. However, none have ever given me butterflies before. Why am I feeling this way for a peasant I just met?
We stop in front of a tiny run-down shack.
"Don't be deceived by appearances. This place makes the best breakfast in town," he says.
I cross my arms. "What makes you think I care what a place looks like?"
He looks me up and down. "I see your dress is torn. However, I can tell it's made from high-quality fabric."
"What are you insinuating? That I'm pretentious? I'm a peasant, just like you."
He holds his abdomen as he laughs. "We don't call each other peasants around here."
Who is this man? He's intelligent, and if I'm not careful, he'll figure out who I am.
I look down at my feet. "I...I know that. It was a joke."
"Well...it did make me laugh. Just be careful who you joke around with." He starts to walk toward the eating establishment. He stops and looks over his shoulder at me. "Are you coming?"
I nod and walk beside him.
He opens the door for me. It smells amazing here.
He waves at the cook. "I brought a friend. Do you mind making her your specialty?"
The cook offers us a smile. "Not at all. Have a seat."
We turn around. He pulls out a chair for me to sit in.
"I must get back to work. Enjoy your breakfast. And don't worry about payment. It's on me."
My heart sinks to my stomach as I watch him leave. I already miss him.
I dismiss the feeling once my food arrives. I break into the creamy omelet that is covering the rice. I'm surprised...how can something ordinary taste delicious? The tomato flavored sauce mingles well with the rice and sausage.
I politely thank the cook once I finish my meal.
He smiles proudly. "Stop in whenever you'd like. Any friend of Kura is a friend of mine."
I take a walk through the nearby forest with a big smile on my face. Kura. I repeat his name over and over again. What a beautiful name.
I lay down on the carpet of grass. Images of Kura flood my brain. I wish to meet him again.
Before the sun sets, I run back to the village in search of him. My heart aches when I don't find him where we met earlier. I run to the shack where I had breakfast to see if the cook knows where he lives. To my dismay, the restaurant is closed. I start to panic. I have no idea where I'll be sleeping tonight.
Tears involuntarily fall down my cheeks. This is my first night alone. It's starting to get cold, and I don't have shelter. Maybe this was a mistake. I should summon my dragon and go back home.
No...never. I take a deep breath and overcome my self-doubt. I run back toward the forest to find a safe area to sleep. On my way, I see a silhouette of a man. I stop dead in my tracks.
"Kura?"
The man walks closer to me, tilting his head to the side.
"Yes?" he says.
I sigh a deep breath of relief. "Thank Kami. I found you."
"My Lady...were you looking for me? I apologize...had I known you needed my help, I would have given you my address. How can I offer my assistance?"
"I just...I just need help finding a place to rest for the night."
His beautiful face comes into view.
"Well...that all depends on how much you trust me."
I take a few steps back. "What do you mean?"
He smiles. I love his smile. His smile is now my favorite thing in the world.
"You are more than welcome to stay with me."
My mouth falls open. "With...you?"
He looks off into the distance. "It's late. The nearest hotel is miles away, and it would take hours to get there by foot."
"I trust you. You have shown me nothing but kindness since the moment we met."
He extends his hand. This time, I allow him to take my hand into his. His strong hand wraps around mine.
The sound of cicadas is replaced by the chirping of crickets as night falls. A cool breeze blows through me, sending chills down my spine. I take glances at Kura while we walk.
A look of concern crosses his face. "My Lady, are you cold?"
I shiver. "A little."
He pulls his jacket off and places it over my shoulders. "Don't worry. We're close."
We stop in front of a massive house. I stare at it in awe. "Is this big house just for you?"
He shakes his head. "No, I don't live in this house. I live in the back."
I feel my forehead crinkle.
He takes me to the back of the house. "This is where I live."
He points to a small shed.
"You live...here?" I try to hide the disappointment in my voice.
"Yes. I'm a peasant, remember?"
I feel myself blush. "I apologize for saying that earlier. I realize that was an unmannerly comment."
He unlocks the door. "No worries." He allows me to go in first.
I take off my shoes as he flips on the light. It's actually more spacious than it appears from the outside. It's very clean and tidy. A kotatsu table sits in the middle. To the right is a tiny kitchen with only the essentials. To the left is a full-size futon. Stacks of books are piled next to it.
I raise an eyebrow. "Where is your bathroom?"
He takes off his shoes. "The owners of the home permit me to use the guest bathhouse. You see, I work for them in the village. Instead of paying me, they allow me to stay here."
"But...don't you need money for things like food and clothes?"
He sets down his bag. "I already have plenty of that." He motions toward the kitchen. "May I offer you something to drink? Perhaps some hot tea?"
"Uh...sure."
I sit down at the table to wait for him. My mother used to tell me people of low class are uninteresting. I have to disagree. I want to know more about Kura than any of the boring high-class men I have spoken with.
I catch him glancing at me while he pours my tea. "Sugar? Cream?"
"Both. Please."
He sits in front of me. I feel the warmth coming from the heated table.
"My Lady, I understand you are reticent about expressing who you are, but I must ask...are you just passing by our village?"
I blow the steam away from my tea before taking a sip. "Like I answered earlier, I don't know." I set down my cup and look away from him.
He reaches across the table and touches my hand. "I can't help but feel like you're running away from something. Or...someone."
His unexpected touch sends waves of electricity throughout my entire body. "You read me so well. I must say, it's impressive."
"So am I right? Are you running away?"
I sigh. "Yes. I'm running away from my family."
He looks at me like he is truly interested in what I have to say. "But...why?"
I stare down at the cup of tea that I'm holding in between my hands. I clench my jaw. "They have committed a terrible crime. One I can never forgive."
"A crime? Isn't that punishable by law?"
I shake my head. "Not for them. It's..plicated."
He wraps his arm around my shoulder. I didn't even notice him move next to me. I instinctively rest my head on his chest. I've never felt comforted by another human being before. Not even my own mother.
"You don't need to tell me anything else. I can tell thinking about it brings you pain." He runs his fingers through my hair.
This physical connection he's giving me makes me want to pour my heart out to him.
"You know what my mother gave me for my eighteenth birthday?" I say.
"No, what?" His voice is barely audible.
"She gave me a wedding invitation...to my own wedding."
He pulls me away from his chest and grabs my shoulders. "Did I hear you correctly? Your own wedding?"
I nod. "Yes. She expects me to marry the man of her choosing just because he carries a certain gene. I'm supposed to conceive a child on our wedding night. How dreadful does that sound?"
He stares at me, wide-eyed. "Do you at least know the man?"
I shrug my shoulders. "I tore the invitation before reading his name. I doubt he even knows of my mother's plan."
He notices the sadness in my eyes. "My Lady, I'm so sorry." He pulls me close to his chest.
"You don't have to call me My Lady anymore. My name is (Y/N)."
I know I'm taking a huge risk by telling him my name, but my heart is telling me to trust him.
"(Y/N). That's a beautiful name. It sounds suitable for a princess."
My heart pounds against my chest. What if he figures out who I am?
"Enough about me." I change the subject. "What kind of work do you do?"
"I help guard the bank's safe. It's a boring job since our crime rate is low; however, we do get the occasional robberies from people who come from different villages."
I look up at him. "You're a guard?"
He squeezes me. "Yes. So you are free to hide out here as long as you wish. I'll keep you safe."
"Thank you."
I close my eyes, almost falling asleep on his chest.
He lets out a yawn. "It's getting late. You must be tired." He looks at his futon. "I only have one bed, but you can have it."
"But...what about you? I can't allow you to sleep on the floor. You'll freeze."
"You are my only concern."
He stands up and walks to an armoire. He opens it and pulls out extra blankets.
He hands one to me. "Good night, (Y/N)."
I stand up. "No. I don't mind sharing a bed with you. We're already sharing a room. What difference does it make?"
His eyes fall on the inviting futon on the floor. "Uh...if you insist."
I watch as he changes into his night clothes. He must feel my eyes on him because he turns around. I gasp. He has the V shape below his abdominal muscles.
He smiles. "If you'd like, I can turn around while you change."
"Uh...thank you."
It's obvious he caught me staring at him.
I slip into my nightgown and he flips off the lightswitch. We settle into the futon.
I can feel the heat in between us. "Good night, Kura."
"Rest easy, (Y/N). Sweet dreams aren't far away."
I spend the next few weeks hiding out in Kura's small dwelling. He makes sure I have plenty of food. He even takes me to a boutique to buy some new clothes. They aren't what I'm used to, but they'll do. I still can't help but wonder how he has money. I guess we both have our own secrets.
I step out of the dressing room wearing one of my new dresses.
"You look like a princess," he says.
Heat rises to my cheeks. "Th...thank you."
He takes me out for dinner. He's dressed nicely in a pair of black slacks and a white dress shirt. His hair is pulled back into a low ponytail. It's not the messy bun I'm used to seeing.
After we order our meals, he reaches over and places his hands on mine. My heart immediately starts to flutter.
"You know...the people of this village think you are my girlfriend."
I feel myself blush from my arms up to my cheeks. "What do you say?"
He pulls his hands back and shrugs. "You're nothing more than a friend."
I look away. "Do you have a girlfriend?"
He laughs. "I'm sure you would know by now. Besides, I'm sure she wouldn't approve of our sleeping arrangement."
Relief floods my veins. "You're right. Have you ever had a girlfriend? Sorry if I'm asking too many personal questions."
"I don't mind. They are fair questions. The answer is no...I've never had a girlfriend. But you...you're already engaged!"
I wish I had something to throw at him. "Hold your tongue! I am not engaged."
He holds his hands up. "I'm sorry...it was a joke."
"I forgive you."
His smile fades. "Have you ever had a boyfriend?"
"Uh...no."
"Do you want one?"
The server brings out our meals.
"Is there anything else I can bring you?" she asks us.
"No, that is all, thank you." Kura responds quickly.
He locks eyes with me as soon as our server leaves. "Well?"
"That all depends on who it is," I say.
"What if it's me?"
I've never been in love before, but I'm pretty sure this is what it feels like. My heart rate increases as he continues to stare at me, waiting for my response.
"Then...yes."
As soon as Kura locks the door behind him, he pins me against the wall. He touches my cheek as he stares at my lips.
"(Y/N), are you counting today as day one? Or the weeks that have passed since we first met?"
I tilt my head to the side. "You mean since we became a couple?"
"Yes."
I bite my lip as I stare into his eyes for an answer. "I count the day we first met because that's when I started having feelings for you."
"Me too," he says.
I feel his warm breath against my ear. A soft moan escapes my lips.
He rests his hand on the small of my back. "So...that means I don't have to wait for my kiss?"
The euphonious sound of his voice is making my head spin.
"No," I whisper.
I close my eyes. I feel his lips brush against mine. He kisses them gently. He pulls away, leaving me wanting more.
I open my eyes. He's smiling at me.
"My first kiss," he says.
I use the wall behind me for support.
"Mine, too."
"I'd like to try that again, if you don't mind."
I can barely breathe. "I don't mind."
I close my eyes again. I feel his arms wrap around my body, lifting me off the floor. He places me on top of the futon. Thank goodness. I didn't know how long my knees were going to hold me up.
He gently lays me on my back. Seconds later, his lips are back on mine. Before he has the chance to break away, I part my lips. I feel his tongue caress mine. It takes a few seconds for us to find a rhythm. When we do, it feels like a slow dance. His hands find mine and our fingers interlock.
My heart fills with a warmth I've never felt before...like this kiss was meant to happen.
Breathless, he pulls away. He brushes my hair away from my face with his fingers. "(Y/N), my princess, I love you."
His eyes captivate me. "I love you, too, Kura."
His face brightens. He plants tiny kisses all over the side of my neck. In response, I throw my head back and lift my hips.
"Kura, make love to me."
He stops kissing my neck. He stares into my eyes with a confused expression on his face.
"(Y/N), are you sure?"
I look back at him through misty eyes. "Yes. Make me yours."
He doesn't respond.
"Kura?"
"(Y/N), would I be your first?"
I nod. "Would I be yours?"
He nods. "Shouldn't we wait a little longer?"
"Why? We both love each other. Besides...what if tomorrow never comes?"
"True. However, you barely know me. Are you sure you want me to be the one to take away your pureness?"
I free his hair from his ponytail. His beautiful locks fall on my face.
"I love you...that's all I need to know."
His lips meet mine. We share a kiss deeper than the ocean. He reaches behind me to find the zipper to my dress. He pulls it down. He moves his lips to my shoulder as he pulls down one of the straps. He does the same with my other shoulder.
I lift my hips as he pulls down my dress. I reach up and unbutton his shirt. I touch his V once it's off.
He unclasps my bra. My breasts bounce free as he pulls it off. He stares at them with hunger in his eyes.
He takes one of my nipples into his mouth. I let out a gasp. I had no idea how sensitive my breasts were. I grind my hips against him as he sucks on my breast. He squeezes my other one with his hand.
He switches sides. I place my hands on his backside, squeezing each muscle.
Kura sits up, hooking his thumbs under the sides of my panties. He pulls them off. My legs part open. He stares at my most intimate part. Warm liquid trickles out of my center. I feel myself blush.
"What's the matter?" I say.
"You've never been touched. I'm afraid I might hurt you."
I sit up and unbuckle his belt. After freeing his erection, I back away. He's right. This is going to hurt. But...I don't care.
He finishes undressing himself. I lay back, spreading my legs wide. He reaches down and continues to kiss me. The fear I felt seconds ago vanishes.
He kisses me under my earlobe. "(Y/N)...please...if you feel uncomfortable...tell me to stop."
His hand travels from my breast, down my torso, down...down...
He spreads my labia open with his fingers. I gasp. He slips a finger inside of me. He pushes it deep inside. He adds a second finger. I can feel him trying to stretch me out.
I feel like I'm trapped inside of a dream. I watch Kura through half-lidded eyes. He is busy kissing my breasts while discovering me. He slides his fingers in and out of me, massaging my walls. I start to feel a strange sensation below my navel. He presses me deeper...ahh...this feeling. It's like an aura of warmth that's beginning to travel throughout my entire body.
He pulls his fingers out and begins to massage the lips that protect my opening. I moan, gripping the sheets beneath me as he discovers a sensitive spot I never knew was there. My vision turns white as I float in this dream. I feel his fingers dip back inside of me. This time, he leaves his thumb pressed on the sensitive spot he discovered seconds ago.
This feeling...it's more intense now...like a need...a need to release this aura. I allow my body to do what it needs to do as Kura presses me. My breathing is uneven. I gasp for air as I finally release. My body trembles as pleasure builds.
"Ku...ra..." I moan.
He kisses my lips. I feel myself floating for a few seconds before falling...falling...falling. I finally land in a pool of pure bliss. My brain feels like it just exploded. It takes me a few seconds to realize what just happened.
"(Y/N)?"
I smile, basking in tranquility.
"(Y/N)?" he repeats.
I open my eyes. My smile grows wider when I see the beautiful man sitting next to me.
"Kura? What just happened?"
My eyes fall to his right hand. His palm is facing up. His fingers are drenched in my fluids.
He kisses my forehead before getting up to find a towel. I stare at him in amazement. I never would have imagined that underneath those tattered clothes would be the body of a Greek God. His hair falls below his shoulder blades, like a river of gold.
He lays beside me. I comb his hair with my hands. The strands feel like silk in between my fingers. His bangs fall to the left as he turns to face me.
I feel his fingertips run up and down my body. It feels like feathers, causing goosebumps to erupt on my skin.
He gives me a few minutes to recover before positioning himself on top of me. He feels like a weighted blanket, protecting me from the outside world. Armed guards used to stand by my side back at home; however, I've never felt so safe and secure before.
He kisses my neck, running his tongue down to my collarbone. He locks his eyes with mine.
"Shall I continue?"
What a preposterous question.
"Please," I say.
He reaches down and places his erection directly in front of my entrance. I place my hand over his heart. It's beating as fast as mine.
I wrap my arms around his shoulders. He pushes himself inside of me, stopping when he is only a quarter of the way in. The pain knocks the wind out of me. He pulls back out.
I take a few deep breaths. Tears fall from the corners of my eyes.
He kisses my eyes. "We can stop if you'd like."
I shake my head. "No...no."
I stare into his eyes as he pushes himself back inside of me. He goes in deeper than before. I squeeze my eyes shut. He pulls back...and in...tearing me apart.
He stops. "Try to relax."
I take another deep breath. "Okay. Keep going."
He pulls back...slowly entering me. He plunges deeper with each gentle thrust.
He moans. "You feel incredible."
I try to relax. I want to feel what he's feeling.
I tighten my grip on him. The tearing pain shoots through me like a flame.
He kisses me. It instantly distracts me from the pain. Seconds later, he breaks our kiss.
He nuzzles my neck. "(Y/N), how do you feel?"
"I feel...good."
He smiles. "I'm all the way inside of you."
I lift my hips up. I feel him...all of him. The pain is gone. How is this possible?
He waits until I adjust. He pulls back out. Seconds later, he thrusts back inside of me. We both let out a moan. He's right...it feels incredible. The man I love is giving me all of him as we share this intimate moment. I spread my legs as wide as they'll go. He takes that as an invitation to pick up the pace.
Our breathing becomes synchronized. I start to feel the same warm aura I felt earlier. Only now...it's more intense.
"I love you," he whispers in my ear.
"And I love you."
This kind-hearted man came into my life and saved me. Just like a knight, he rescued me from my castle. I don't care if we live in this shed forever. As long as I'm with him, I'll be happy for the rest of my life.
We kiss, moaning into each other's mouths as we both reach our climax.
I never knew pleasure like this existed. I feel like my life is beginning again.
His body stiffens before he falls on top of me. I trace the outline of his back muscles as he recovers.
He lifts his head to check on me. I smile, letting him know I'm fine. He looks away, furrowing his brow. Is he guilty?
"Kura?"
He pulls out of me. He stares in between my legs as he sits up.
"Uh...you might need this." He hands me a towel.
I sit up, gasping when I see the amount of blood seeping out of me. I quickly wipe myself clean.
Kura is looking at nothing.
"Kura, what are you thinking?"
He turns his head to look at me. "I'm thinking...why was I the lucky one to find you that day? It could've been anyone. But...it was me."
We both rest our backs against the wall. He covers us with a blanket.
I notice tears welling in Kura's eyes. "Why do you look so melancholy?"
He lifts my hand and brings it to his lips. "This has been a terrible year for me." He kisses my hand. "That is...until I met you."
He doesn't elaborate.
I kiss his cheek. "What...happened?"
His lips find mine. He kisses me with furiosity...like this kiss is going to take away his pain.
He finally breaks away, panting. "(Y/N), my family was killed."
I feel my own tears shed. "How?"
"I'm afraid I can't give you any details. Not until I avenge them."
I touch his cheek. "But...promise me you won't do anything reckless."
He smiles. "I promise. I have you now. My princess."
The next three months are spent in pure bliss. Every morning, I wake up to Kura smiling at me. He goes to work, and I spend my day missing him. When he gets home, we eat dinner and visit the bathhouse. The rest of the night is spent in each other's arms, making love until late into the night.
We've learned a lot about each other. He is two years older than me and we share the same moral philosophies. He is also an avid reader, and enjoys reading to me.
I laugh. "Shouldn't you go to sleep?" I take the book out of his hands.
Kura tickles my abdomen. "No...sleep can wait. I prefer my waking hours. That's when I see you."
I catch my breath when he stops tickling me. "You don't dream about me?"
"Of course I do. It's just more fun to kiss you in real life."
I pull him close to me. I twirl his hair with my finger. "My sweet Kura. I love you so much."
He rests his ear against my heart. "And I love you, my princess."
A tinge of guilt forms in my stomach. I keep thinking about when to tell him my secret. It's the only thing I have yet to share with him. I'm just afraid...will he still love me when he finds out I'm a real princess?
He lifts his head up. "Your heart...it just skipped a beat."
"Kura? May I ask you a question?"
He lays next to me, resting his arm on my waist. "Of course."
"Are you afraid of anything?"
That wasn't my initial question. I wanted to ask him how he would feel courting a princess. Instead, I panicked and asked him something else.
"I only fear one thing." He winces. "I'm scared that one day all of this will vanish. I know I'm thinking too much into it, but I never want to lose you."
I caress his cheek. "Oh, Kura. You'll never lose me. You've given me your heart, and I'm not giving it back."
He lets out a laugh. "Actually...you stole it. I was taken by surprise when you did. You looked too innocent to commit such a crime." He kisses my lips. "That was the best day of my life. I don't want my heart back. I'd rather have yours."
I try to hold back the tears that are threatening to stream down my face. "It's yours...forever."
He pulls me close. He rolls onto his back, positioning me on top. I hover my lips over his for a few seconds before he grabs the back of my head.
His eyes are so full of desire, I can almost see a hint of crimson in them.
"Kiss me," he says.
I reach down and press my lips hard on his. He parts his lips and I savor him.
He runs his hand over my bare back. Our clothes are long gone from earlier. His hand finds one of my breasts, and he gives it a gentle squeeze. I gasp against his mouth, stealing his breath.
I reach down until my hand meets his erection. I lift my hips up, positioning him in front of my entrance. I slowly push my hips back down, allowing him to fill me.
He moans while he deepens our kiss. I rock my hips back and forth on him.
He breaks our kiss to grab my waist. He lifts me up...down...up...and ahh...he found my sweet spot. A satisfied grin crosses his face when he realizes he found the area deep inside of me that sends me to the moon. He caresses my breasts while I grind against him.
Pure ecstasy flows through my veins as I continue to feed the hungry spot located deep within me. Kura sits up and I wrap my legs around him, pulling him in deeper.
He combs my hair to the side, exposing my neck. He brushes his lips against my skin, tickling me with his warm breath.
I lose control as I continue to rock my hips back and forth. My sweet release is close.
He pushes down my shoulders. "(Y/N), slow down."
Feeling greedy, I place my feet flat on the futon. I push down...harder...deeper.
"I...can't...I need you...Kura...please."
He places his hands on my cheeks. "Look at me."
I pause my movements to look at him. I'm so close I can barely breathe. Why is he stopping me?
"I love watching you. Nothing brings me greater pleasure than to know that I can make you feel good."
He doesn't just make me feel good. He makes me feel like I've been enchanted. It still baffles me...he's just another human. How is it possible for this simple man to bring me such pleasure?
I stare at him with lust-filled eyes. He lifts me up. His eyes stay locked on mine as he pushes me back down. I can't hold it in much longer. The pleasure intensifies. It starts from deep within me. He pulls me up until he's almost all the way out of me. He holds me there for a few seconds before slamming me back down. I scream. I push him down on his back and, for lack of a better word, ride him until I feel myself floating. My body shudders. This feeling of euphoria travels throughout my body. I slow down as I take in the sensations.
I feel myself coming down...until...wait...I'm floating again! He's thrusting into me, reaching his own climax. I watch him through blurry vision as he clenches his jaw, allowing moans to escape his throat.
I'm so high, stars begin to appear around me.
I collapse on top of Kura. He holds me, gently rubbing my back as I come back down to earth.
We both lay in silence, breathing heavily.
If these walls had eyes, they would not see a royal princess. Instead, they would see an ordinary woman who is deeply in love with an ordinary man.
A few days later, I pace while biting my knuckle. Something else has been on my mind lately. I check the time. Kura should be home any minute now.
My heart rate increases when I hear the door unlock. He greets me with a big smile on his face.
His smile quickly fades as I stare at him with apprehension.
"(Y/N)? Is everything all right?"
I shake my head.
He takes my hand. "Shall we sit?"
I nod.
We walk over to the table in the middle of the room and sit on the floor. He takes my hand again.
"Talk to me," he says.
I take a deep breath. "Kura, I'm late."
He gives me a puzzled look. "Late for what?"
"My period...it's late."
He nods, finally understanding what I'm trying to tell him. "Right." He looks away from me. "How late are you?"
"Two weeks."
He doesn't respond.
I bite my knuckle. "Are you mad at me?" I say.
He turns to face me again. The corners of his mouth move upward into a soft smile.
"Why would I be mad at you?"
I look down. "I...I don't know." I can't fight back my tears. "Kura, I'm scared. I'm only eighteen!" I look around the small room we call our home. "And we can't raise a baby here!"
I feel his arms wrap around me. I sob into his shoulder.
"Shh...don't be afraid." He runs his hand up and down my back. "I admit...we've both been irresponsible; however, there's nothing we can't handle. Like I told you before, I have a lot of money saved. I can buy you a house. And you know what else?"
I look up at him, blinking away my tears. "What?"
He holds my face in his hands. "I wanted to wait until I avenged my family to tell you...but...I plan on marrying you. I'm not asking you yet so don't give me an answer. You deserve a perfect proposal."
I grip his shirt, sobbing into his chest. This time, I'm crying tears of joy. "Kura, I love you so much. I don't know why I was afraid to tell you."
He kisses my head. "Please...don't be afraid to tell me anything."
It's suddenly quiet. Too quiet. I think now is the best time to tell him my secret.
"Kura?"
He pulls away. "I'll be right back." He stands up. "Let's make sure we're not jumping to conclusions." He walks toward the front door.
I stand up and reach out to him. "Kura!"
Kura reaches for the doorknob. As soon as he turns it, a man pushes the door open. He stomps in. Two other men follow behind him.
I step back in fear when I recognize who they are. I lean up against the wall, suddenly feeling trapped in this tiny space.
Kura reaches back, making sure I'm protected. He gets into a fighting stance. "Who the hell are you?"
The leader ignores Kura. "Apprehend this man! He is responsible for kidnapping the princess!"
The two other guards grab Kura's arms. They take him outside. I scream, running to him. Spiraling like a top, Kura gets out of their grip. I've never seen movements so fast before.
Kura dusts off his shirt. "Answer me! Who sent you and why?"
"Filthy peasant! You're under arrest for kidnapping the princess," the leader says.
Kura turns to look at me. A look of confusion crosses his face.
I cover my mouth with my hands.
Kura looks back at the leader. "I command you to leave the premises immediately."
The leader laughs. "And who are you to command me?"
Kura reaches behind his back and pulls out a crown. He places it on top of his head. It matches the color of his hair and is adorned with scarlet-colored jewels.
All three guards immediately bow down.
The leader clasps his hands together. "Prince Kurapika, we apologize. We were just following orders."
Prince...Kura...pika? Of the Kingdom of Kurtacia? Impossible...nobody survived the massacre.
Kurapika steps forward. "It's now King Kurapika. And who is this princess you speak of?"
The leader points to me. "Princess (Y/N) Lucilferus."
Kurapika's eyes land on mine. He watches as the other two guards grab me. He's not protecting me anymore. But...why?
Kurapika walks towards me. "Take me to your kingdom, Princess Lucilferus. I wish to speak with your King and Queen."
Two
The constant click-clack sound fills my ears and vibrates throughout my body. The thunder claps above us, only adding to my anxiety. This is by far the longest trip back home I've ever had.
By the time I return to my kingdom, the battle has begun. A dark gray cloud of smoke covers part of the forest. The smell of burning trees sting my lungs as I inhale. I can hear the loud sound of roaring. My heart rate accelerates as soon as I hear her roar.
I hop out of the moving carriage and run. I run through the forest until I can no longer breathe. I'm inhaling too much smoke. I try to yell, but my voice is too weak. I grip my chest and continue to run until I see her. My beautiful dragon.
Tears stream down my face. She struggles as a male dragon bites down on her neck. Adrenaline runs through my veins as I run to her. As soon as she sees me, she pushes me away with her wing. She's trying to protect me.
I look back. The male dragon sees me. He glares at me with his scarlet-colored eyes. I'm paralyzed with fear.
He lets out a loud roar. I bring my hands to my ears before he deafens me. Just when I think he's going to attack me, he flies away.
I look up to the sky. When I no longer see him, I run back to my dragon to check on her. I place my hand over her injury. She screams in pain. Thankfully, her bite marks don't look too deep. The other dragon gave her a warning and fled.
I look back to my castle. Bolts of lightning strike down.
I turn my attention back to my dragon. "I need to check on my parents. Rest. I'll return to check on you as soon as I can."
I run until I reach the drawbridge. I stop dead in my tracks. Two young teenage boys are fighting off all of the guards, throwing their bodies into the moat surrounding my castle.
"Who are you?" I shout.
The white-haired boy throws the last body off the bridge. He runs to me at lightning speed. I feel his arms wrap tightly around my waist.
Goosebumps erupt on my skin when I feel his breath against my ear. He's not even trying to contain his bloodlust.
"I'm not afraid to kill a woman. In fact, you wouldn't be my first."
This child...he's sending chills down my spine.
"Please," I beg. "I'm just looking for Kura...I mean...Kurapika. Do you know where I might find him?"
The black-haired boy appears in front of me. "You know King Kurapika? How?"
"I'm his...I'm his..." I honestly don't know what I am to him anymore. "We were in love."
The white-haired boy throws me over his shoulder. "We'll ask him ourselves. If you're lying...I'll kill you."
He takes me down the spiral staircase that leads to the castle's dungeon. The dark-haired boy makes eye contact with me. His eyes are full of sadness. He doesn't seem as eager to kill me like his friend does.
The temperature decreases as we approach the dark hallway. I shiver against the white-haired boy.
"Uh...are you sure Kurapika is down here?" I say.
"Who gave you permission to talk?"
"Hey, Killua...take it easy on her," the dark-haired boy says.
Killua...his name suits him.
"Hmph," Killua says, looking away from his friend.
We stop when we approach one of the cells. Killua drops me to my feet. I spin around, searching for Kurapika.
My eyes widen at the sight in front of me. Kurapika's back is facing me. He is standing next to a tall man. They are both facing my parents.
"(Y/N)!" my mother says. She tries to free herself from the chains that are wrapped around her body.
Kurapika turns around.
"She says she knows you," Killua says. He glares at me. "Do you know her?"
Kurapika nods. "Yes. Good work, Killua and Gon. I'll take it from here." He looks back at his tall friend. "Leorio, keep watch. The King and Queen of this dreadful kingdom will face judgment in the morning."
I stare at my father. He doesn't try to fight his way out of the chains. Fear fills his eyes...I've never seen him scared before.
"Don't you dare hurt her!" my mother shouts. Tears stream down her face. "She's innocent." She begins to sob.
Kurapika takes my hand. "Take me to your room, Princess."
We start to walk away from the cell.
"Hey!" Killua says. "What do you want us to do?"
"Just keep intruders from entering the castle," Kurapika says.
Kurapika and I walk in silence to my bedroom. The first thing he notices is a big stack of wedding invitations sitting on my dresser.
"I thought you said you tore these up." He takes one and opens the envelope.
"I did. Mother must have placed the rest of them in here while I was gone."
Sweat drops form on his forehead as he reads the invitation.
I furrow my brow. "What does it say?"
He shows me the invitation. My eyes widen as I read the names.
Princess (Y/N) Lucilferus and Prince Kurapika Kurta
He chews on the inside of his cheek. "It all makes sense now. My mother never wanted me to marry royalty. Her wish was for me to fall in love by accident. She wanted me to have a life outside of the castle. That's why you found me in that town." His voice cracks. "I wanted to live the life she wanted for me."
I close the gap between us. "And you did...you fell in love by accident."
He shakes his head. "No...you didn't allow me to finish. You said your mother wanted you to conceive a child with a man who carried a certain gene, right?"
I slowly nod. He hangs his head as he covers his eyes with his hand.
My jaw drops when Kurapika uncovers his eyes. His eyes are as scarlet as the male dragon I met earlier.
"Your mother wants a scarlet-eyed grandchild. That's why she decided to invade my kingdom...because my mother declined her invitation. That's also why she decided to spare my life. She's still hoping I'll marry you."
My head starts to spin. As much as I don't want to believe Kurapika's words, they make perfect sense.
"Princess (Y/N), answer me. Did you know about the scarlet eyes? Did you set forth in search of me?"
"No," I say.
He glares at me with his scarlet eyes. They are the most beautiful color I've ever seen.
"Then why didn't you tell me you were a princess?"
"I just wanted to live an ordinary life...just like your mother wanted you to do," I say.
Kurapika glances at my bed before looking back at me. His eyes are now a deeper shade of scarlet, glowing as he approaches me. I feel my heart pound. The lub dub sound echoes in my ears.
He grabs my wrist. "I want to believe you...I do. Either way...you are a part of this evil family. You must pay for their sins."
He picks me up and throws me on my bed. "Kurapika...no."
Chains appear out of nowhere, wrapping around my wrists and tying themselves around the two posts at the head of my bed.
I attempt to free myself.
"Don't waste your energy. You're not going anywhere," Kurapika says. He crawls on top of me. "Now...it's time for you to accept your punishment."
I look up at Kurapika. He's not the same man I fell in love with. In his place is a demon-possessed version of him. His eyes are now two pools of blood. His menacing aura holds me in place.
He pulls up the bottom of my dress over my waist. He tears my panties off, throwing them off the bed. I watch with widened eyes as he unbuckles his belt.
He opens my legs. I squeeze my eyes shut, praying this is a nightmare. I don't want to remember this side of Kurapika. I feel his strong hand wrap around my neck. Without warning, he plunges himself deep inside of me. I scream as he thrusts into me repeatedly. My walls are dry, and it feels like he is stabbing me from the inside.
I feel the warm tears fall down my cheeks. "Kurapika...please...you're hurting me."
He lifts one of my legs and rests it on his shoulder. He thrusts into me harder...deeper. He tightens his grip around my neck, stopping oxygen from flowing to my brain.
"It hurts...doesn't it? Well...I assure you it's nothing compared to the pain of watching your entire family get slaughtered."
He loosens his grip around my neck. I cough in response. He doesn't give me time to recover as he continues driving into me with great force.
I need him to know I had nothing to do with the massacre. I need him to know I'm sorry. However, at this moment, I realize there is no point. I can't reason with a demon.
I try my best to relax. Maybe it will be over soon if I don't resist.
At this moment, I feel trapped in time. It's as if the universe wants me to be punished as well. He thrusts...I scream...he thrusts again...I scream louder. This goes on a few more times until I feel his body stiffen against mine. His body convulses before falling on top of me.
He brushes his cheek against mine. My tears combined with his fall down my cheek, landing on my duvet. He's...crying.
I slowly open my eyes. Kurapika lifts his head to face me. I still see the demon through Kurapika's eyes.
"(Y/N), I'm sorry."
He's apologizing, and like a fool, I try to free myself from his chains to comfort him. "I forgive you," I say.
He crawls down to inspect the damage he left behind. He covers his eyes, looking away. How bad is it? I feel some throbbing, but nothing a little time won't heal.
"I'll make it feel better," he says.
I gasp when I feel his lips press the sensitive area between my legs. He spreads me open with his tongue. It stings at first, but the pain fades. Pleasure takes its place. I grind my hips against his face as he licks away my wounds.
He takes his time, licking each labia in long slow strokes before moving back to the center. I suck in a deep breath, expecting pain. Instead, I'm greeted with pure delight. The pure delight that makes me feel like I'm falling down an infinite abyss.
He finds the most sensitive part of me and brushes his tongue across it. The sensation causes my legs to tremble involuntarily.
I hear him laugh. "Such a greedy girl," he says.
That's not something Kurapika would ever say. Nonetheless, I ignore my instincts. I allow him to dip his tongue inside of me. He massages my bruised walls with his tongue. He pulls his tongue out and finds my clit again.
A moan escapes my lips.
He flattens his tongue and focuses his movements there. He presses down on my thighs with his hands to keep my legs from shaking.
"Are you close?" he pauses to say.
"Ahh...yes. Very."
I throw my head back, awaiting the magical moment.
Kurapika massages my clit for a few more seconds. I'm so close...my vision is already turning white. He dips his tongue back in and out of me, suckles my lips, and...
He stops.
I lift my head up in confusion. He wipes his mouth before smiling at me.
"Consider that part of your punishment," he says.
"Wait...no...please."
I beg. I need him to finish.
Instead, he pulls down my dress, giving me decency. He buckles his belt and crawls off the bed. I watch as he leaves my bedroom, closing the door behind him.
My hands are still tied in chains so it's not like I can finish myself. How can he do this to me? The area between my legs is throbbing...swollen. The only way to stop the torture is to have my sweet release. The release only Kurapika can give me.
Kurapika left me tied to my bed with a purpose...to inflict pain on me. The thoughts of him pleasuring me with his tongue run through my brain, only adding to my agony.
I squirm in an attempt to find comfort. Tears flow down my cheek. It's hard to take my mind off of Kurapika when he's all I see when I close my eyes. Pain...pleasure...and more pain. That's what he gave me. I suppose it's what I deserve.
Afterall, I did lie to him. He did the same, but for a noble cause.
My tears stop when I fall asleep.
The full moon shines through my bay window. The castle is too quiet. I'm used to hearing servants walk up and down the halls. I hate the silence. It's louder than a volcanic eruption.
I pull my legs up to ease the dull pain forming on my lower back.
I wince. The pain is radiating to my lower abdomen. I feel a gush of liquid pour out of me. What a perfect time to welcome my monthly cycle.
Except...this pain feels different. I bite down on my pillow in an attempt to control whatever it is that's tearing my insides apart.
I pull on the chains. I turn from side to side. I scream. I beg. I just want this pain to go away. I pant through clenched teeth.
"Please...someone...help me!"
I stare at the door.
And stare.
It doesn't open. Nobody hears me.
I arch my back and writhe in pain. Why does death have to be painful? Have I not suffered enough?
Except...I'm not dying. The pain vanishes. I sit up in bed, using my legs to pull up the lower part of my dress.
My lower lip trembles as soon as I see the blood clot sitting in between my legs.
"No. No!"
Just when I think I ran out of tears, I cry. No...I sob. I sob so much I can't breathe. I shouldn't be experiencing this alone. My mother should be here with me. Or...Kurapika.
I wake up to a soft knock on the door. I pull my arms down, and miraculously, the chains disappear. I compose myself.
"Come in," I say, dangling my legs over the edge of the bed.
The dark-haired boy walks toward me. His eyes fill with fright as soon as he glances at my bed.
"Good morning," I say. "Gon, right?"
He nods. "Yes. Uh...are you okay?"
I bite my lower lip to keep it from trembling. I shake my head. "No," I whisper.
He wraps his arms around my shoulders, and I completely lose it. He strokes my back with his hand.
"Princess...I'm sorry. I know something terrible happened to you, but...we need to get going. King Kurapika is waiting."
I pull away. "Kurapika? What is he waiting for?"
"He wants you to get ready."
I raise an eyebrow. "Ready for what?"
Gon hangs his head. "Uh...the sentencing of the King and Queen."
I stare at the innocent-looking boy in front of me. "The...sentencing?"
He raises his hands up. "I'm just the messenger."
I run to my bathroom. I get ready on autopilot.
Gon walks with me until we reach the courtyard. He runs to meet Killua and Leorio.
A mixture of emotions flow through me as soon as I see Kurapika. Pain, rage, but mostly...love.
Kurapika stares at me, expressionless. He's wearing a red, long velvet coat and matching pants. His crown rests perfectly on top of his head. But...something is different...his beautiful long hair...he cut it short!
My parents are still wrapped in chains. Their eyes brighten when they see me.
"Kurapika! Please...allow them their freedom," I say.
"Have you gone insane?" He pulls out a sword. "They have been sentenced to death. And you...since you were not involved in the massacre...your only punishment will be to watch as they are beheaded."
I make fists with my hands. "No. How did you come up with such a harsh punishment?"
He swings his sword. "Harsh? I'll tell you what is harsh...having your entire kingdom annihilated."
"Please...there has to be another way."
"In actuality, I'm showing them kindness." He throws the sword to a gentleman standing in front of my parents. "Executioner, we are ready."
I jump on top of Kurapika. "No!" I pound him on the chest.
He looks at me with his scarlet-colored eyes. "Princess (Y/N), you will watch the execution of your parents...just like I did."
I fall on my knees. "King Kurapika, I still love you. Do you love me?"
He gives me a questioning look. "This has nothing to do with how I feel about you."
I stare at him. "You didn't answer my question. Do you love me?"
I watch as his chest rises and falls. "(Y/N)...I..." He closes his eyes. When he opens them again, they are no longer scarlet. "I do. I love you very much."
I stand on my feet, closing the gap between us. "Please. This isn't the Kurapika I fell in love with."
He reaches down and presses his forehead against mine. "Who is he? Who is the Kurapika you fell in love with?"
I rest my hand on his chest. "He is a kind and forgiving person. He once told me, 'what kind of place would this world be if we didn't help each other out?' Let's help each other out, Kurapika."
He takes my hand into his. "You are correct. But...how can you forgive me so easily?"
"Because what I'm about to tell you is punishment enough."
His eyes widen. "What is it, my princess?"
I place his hand over my abdomen. I take a deep breath, trying my best to hold back my tears. "We lost our baby."
"No." He falls to his knees, covering his face. "Was it my fault?"
"No, Kurapika. It wasn't."
He lifts his head up to look at my parents. The chains disappear from around them.
My mother runs to me. I smile, expecting her to hug me. Instead, I'm greeted with a slap to the face.
"My only daughter...a whore! If you didn't leave our kingdom in the first place, none of this would have happened."
I'm too stunned to speak. I look over to Kurapika. He's holding back his tongue. Tears stream down his face.
I look back at my mother. She's judging me with her eyes.
"Go back to the castle this instant! We need to discuss your punishment. You're a shame to this kingdom," she says.
I shake my head. "No, mother. You are." I take my crown off and hand it to her. "I'm going to help King Kurapika rebuild his kingdom. The one you ruined."
A look of shock crosses her face.
I grab Kurapika's arm. Both of our dragons land in front of us. I gasp. My beautiful dragon...she's healed!
Kurapika's dragon bows in front of me. I pat him on his head.
"Princess (Y/N), I don't want you to follow us," Kurapika says. He hops on top of his dragon.
"What?" I give him a puzzled look. "Why not?"
"I committed an unforgivable act. I don't deserve your forgiveness."
"Of course you do."
"(Y/N)!" He raises his voice. "Keep your mouth shut. I have committed an unpardonable sin. I must be punished accordingly."
With that, he flies away on his dragon.
I get on top of mine. "Follow them!" I command her.
We follow Kurapika and his dragon until they land on top of a cliff. I immediately jump off my dragon.
"Kurapika!" I run toward him.
He keeps walking until he reaches the edge of the cliff. He turns around to face me.
"I'm sorry." He bows in front of me.
A cool breeze blows by. I watch as leaves swirl in the air around Kurapika. He waves as he takes a step back, plummeting at least thirty feet.
"No!" I scream, running toward him.
Without thinking, I jump off the cliff. I've heard people say your life flashes before your eyes the moments before you die. That's not true. Instead, my brain is filled with beautiful memories of Kurapika...the peasant I fell in love with.
Seconds later, I land on the ground below. I can see Kurapika, resting on his back with his eyes closed.
I can't feel my legs.
"Kurapika!"
I crawl to be closer to him. I brush his cheek with my fingers. I look up to the Heavens as I scream.
"Please...why didn't you take me with him?" Tears fall down my cheeks. I reach down and kiss his lips. "My sweet Kurapika." I suck in small breaths of air. "I love you."
Our dragons fly down to meet us. Kurapika's dragon nuzzles his lifeless body. Tears well up in his eyes.
My dragon stares at us with a melancholy expression on her face.
I look down at my hands. Warm red fluid covers them. Blood. Where is it coming from? And...does it belong to me?
"Please...take me to Kurapika." I close my eyes and wait. Nothing. Why am I still alive?
I search around, paralyzed from the waist down. I find a branch and break it in half. I point the sharp edge directly in front of my heart. Using every ounce of strength I have left, I pull the branch into my chest.
I lay down next to Kurapika. I close my eyes. A smile forms on my face when I see the glorious bright lights.
Death doesn't hurt. Not when you're next to the person you love.
"(Y/N)? (Y/N)? Wake up."
I slowly open my eyes. "Kurapika?" I take in our surroundings. The walls are so white, they shimmer. "Where are we?"
"Heaven. And look...we have a surprise."
I stand to my feet. They're working again! "What is it?"
Kurapika steps to the side to reveal a white bassinet. I walk toward it, tilting my head to the side. "Oh, my!" I cover my mouth with my hands.
"It's our baby. Isn't she beautiful?" he says.
I take the tiny baby out of the bassinet. Tears of joy stream down my cheeks. "Yes, Kurapika. She is! Thank you so much for her."
He wraps his arm around us. "Let's go. I can't wait to introduce the two of you to my parents."
