Henry, looking dashing in his impeccably tailored tailcoat, stepped forward and swept me into his arms.
His eyes—usually striking but distant—flashed with genuine astonishment.
"Wendy, you're breathtaking today."
"You can see now?"
"Henry, what the hell are you doing?" Ethan demanded.
Henry's gaze locked onto me, filled with unmistakable devotion. Then, in a move that screamed mine, he pressed a soft kiss to my forehead.
"I flew overseas for a corneal transplant—just so I could see my gorgeous bride on our wedding day. Sorry I wasn't here to protect you from these vultures."
With that, he shot Ethan—now gaping like a fish—a sidelong smirk. "Mr. Hill, I'm holding my fiancée. Got a problem with that?"
Ethan's face twisted in disbelief, his mind clearly scrambling to process how I'd ended up with Henry.
"Who the hell is your bride?"
Henry's lips curled in mock pity. "Looks like you're the blind one now. Need a doctor recommendation?"
I played along, looping my arm through Henry's and giving Ethan a sweet, dismissive nod.
"Exactly what you're thinking—today, I'm marrying Henry."
"No!" Ethan's voice cracked as he choked out the word, fury turning his face red. "Wendy, you're my girlfriend! You can't just—"
Funny how he suddenly remembered that now.
"On what planet, Ethan? You and Cynthia are legally married. The second you walked out on me at our engagement party, we were over."
