I closed my eyes, a wave of sourness surging through my chest.
Elodie had once begun to change her opinion of Arnold... but after today, there was only "bad" in her eyes.
To prevent similar incidents from happening again, I asked Dominic to arrange for two reliable subordinates to guard the hospital room door.
That evening, Clara stayed to accompany Elodie. I went home to take care of Rowan and Callum.
They still didn't know Victoria had been released. If they knew, given their temperaments, they'd probably explode again.
I casually made some simple dinner, ate with them, watched the two little ones go to their rooms, and only then stayed downstairs alone to clean up the dishes.
But suddenly—
"Bang!"
The sound of the floor-to-ceiling glass window shattering was like thunder, making my eardrums numb.
Shattered glass crashed down with a "clatter," and I instinctively stepped back, my heart contracting violently.
Before I could recover, the window on the other side also shattered, followed by a series of "bang bang bang" sounds—glass from all directions was breaking!
I looked up and saw black shadows flashing outside—they held various iron bars, stones, even torches, frantically smashing toward the house!
My first reaction was—this is revenge!
"Mommy!"
It was Rowan and Callum!
I immediately shouted: "Don't come down! Go back to your rooms! Lock the doors, quickly!"
I heard them standing on the stairs, breathing rapidly, as if violently pulled by nightmares torn from the depths of memory.
I knew what they were thinking.
They would never forget the scene from that year when I was injured protecting them.
But this time, they wouldn't hide behind me anymore.
The two children quickly returned to their room. Callum found the small robots he had designed, while Rowan connected to the computer, calling the police while requesting Dominic's support.
"Rowan, Callum, what are you doing?!" I watched in surprise as they activated the robots one by one.
"Mommy, this time we won't let you get hurt again." Callum's face was full of seriousness.
The robots' red eyes flashed, their sharp mechanical claws grabbed torches and threw them precisely outside!
I never imagined these little guys that seemed only capable of cleaning would actually have attack capabilities!
The men in black had never seen such a scene. They were caught by the leg and hadn't even reacted before crying out in pain. They kicked one robot away, only to have dozens more swarm up!
Downstairs was chaos, with screams rising and falling.
They panicked.
Afraid their identities would be exposed, they finally chose to retreat. But the robots pursued relentlessly.
I stood upstairs, staring blankly at the scene before me—
I thought those were just children's toys. But... they could actually block the bad guys.
My nose tingled as I called out: "Rowan, Callum, you're amazing!"
"Mommy, who were they?" Rowan's eyes showed shock and anger.
"Victoria." My voice was low and cold as ice, "This is her revenge, and her warning."
When Dominic arrived, the living room was already in complete chaos—glass, stones, burn marks...
He stood at the door, saying nothing, his face frighteningly grim.
He walked upstairs step by step, first looking at me: "Are you hurt?"
I shook my head.
Only then did the fury in his eyes subside, "Who did this?"
I looked coldly toward the night: "It should be the Hayes family."
As soon as I finished speaking, cold light flashed in his eyes, his voice so low it was nearly frozen: "The Hayes family... very good."
"Want to die? Then I'll fulfill their wish."
