My whole body tensed, and I quickly called out to Scott, "Grandpa, it's so late. You should go home and rest."
He looked at me suspiciously, "Is there someone else in your car? I just seemed to see something flash and then hide."
I quickly smiled, trying to cover up, "Grandpa, you must be seeing things. How could there be anyone in my car? I still have things to do, so I'll leave first. You should go home and rest early too."
I opened the front car door, and Dominic helped me into the car before getting into the driver's seat.
"Paisley, wait a moment."
Scott walked quickly forward. My spine went cold, and sweat immediately broke out. Because I had just opened the car door, Rowan and Callum were crouched in the back seat. If Scott just glanced sideways, he would definitely see them.
I forced myself to remain calm and turned back to ask, "Grandpa, is there something else?"
"I've heard about recent events. Arnold was wrong. I apologize to you on his behalf."
I smiled bitterly and shook my head, "Grandpa, he's done too many wrong things to me. You can't apologize for all of them."
"Grandpa, please go back and rest well. I'm leaving now."
With that, I got in the car. Dominic started the engine, the wheels turned gently, and the car drove away.
Scott sighed, "That person beside Paisley looks somewhat familiar."
The old butler came over and asked, "Do you know him?"
He frowned in thought but couldn't remember.
I patted my chest, feeling like I had narrowly escaped disaster, and turned back to look at Rowan.
He was leaning against the front seat back, asking curiously, "Mommy, tell us what happened inside?"
Knowing they were curious, I briefly explained what happened.
Callum dramatically said "Wow!" and clapped his hands, "Uncle Dominic is so amazing!"
Dominic smiled, "Compared to Arnold?"
"You're much better than that bastard."
Dominic was very pleased to hear this, his smile becoming even brighter.
Back at the hotel.
Dominic sat in the car and glanced at the hotel, "Are you planning to stay here for a while?"
"Yeah, there's broken glass all over the floor downstairs at home. It's not safe."
"I can help you find a house."
"No need. Tomorrow I'll have someone clean up and replace the glass, then we can move back. Let's go. You should head back early too. Drive carefully."
I got out of the car with Rowan and Callum.
Back in the room, I had booked a family suite with a bedroom inside and a small living room outside. I had the two little ones go shower and sleep while I organized the things we had brought.
This day had left me irritated and exhausted, both physically and mentally.
After Rowan and Callum finished their showers and lay in bed, I went to shower.
Then the doorbell rang.
"Mommy, someone's here."
I came out of the bathroom in a bathrobe, drying my hair, frowning in confusion, "At this hour, who could it be?"
I hadn't told anyone which room I was staying in, not even Dominic.
How could someone suddenly come knocking?
Even room service wouldn't come at this hour.
I glanced at the two little ones and said cautiously, "Stay in the room and don't come out."
"Mommy, will there be danger?"
The evening's attack had left them traumatized.
"It shouldn't be that serious."
This high-end hotel had security and surveillance. Who would dare make a move here?
Besides, Dominic had already severely punished those people. They wouldn't dare come again in the short term.
I put the towel aside, closed the bedroom door, and walked carefully to the front door, asking, "Who is it?"
"It's me."
It was Arnold's deep voice.
My heart tightened. Shouldn't he be at the hospital with Victoria right now?
How did he know I was here? How did he know the exact room number and dare to come looking?
Thinking of the two little ones in the room, my heartbeat instantly accelerated, and I didn't dare make a sound.
But I had already responded, so he definitely knew I was inside.
"Open the door."
I didn't answer.
"Paisley, I know you're in there. If I can find you, I can get in. Do you think you can hide?"
Rowan heard the commotion and wanted to come out to see, but I quickly waved my hand to signal them not to come out.
They cleverly went back to the room immediately and closed the door.
I knew that a door couldn't stop Arnold.
If he wanted to get in, he could even tear the door down.
I exhaled softly and opened the door, ready to go out and make things clear with him.
"What do you want?"
As soon as I spoke, he grabbed my hand with one hand and pressed against the door with the other, forcefully pushing me back into the room.
