                    Elodie glanced at it.
A lollipop.
Not interested.
Not being able to see Mommy couldn't be fixed with one lollipop.
Elodie pressed her lips together, tears continuing.
Arnold raised an eyebrow. "Two?"
"Three?"
"Let's negotiate—five!"
"... All right, you can have all of them."
Elodie stopped crying and opened her little hands.
Arnold: "..."
Clara was brought upstairs by a hotel staff member Arnold had arranged. When she reached the door, she was still somewhat nervous.
After all, the person she was about to face was Arnold.
The staff member pressed the doorbell. When the door opened, he gestured for Clara to enter.
Clara took a deep breath, encouraging herself mentally, and walked in.
Neil brought her before Arnold. "Sir."
Arnold lifted his eyelids, his gaze falling on Clara.
Clara anxiously looked around for Elodie, afraid Elodie might suffer in Arnold's hands.
Instead, she saw Elodie sitting on the sofa, happily eating a bunch of different flavored lollipops.
Clara looked puzzled. Little ancestor, your mother is going crazy with worry outside, and you're here eating candy!
Clara had no time to think more. She quickly walked over. "Elodie, Mommy's here."
Elodie looked up, saw Clara, and was about to happily call out "Auntie Clara" when Clara immediately gave her a meaningful look.
Elodie blinked, and though she didn't understand why Auntie Clara was calling herself Mommy, Elodie was smart enough to cooperate: "Mommy, you finally came."
Clara immediately picked up Elodie.
Arnold's gaze fell on them. "You're the child's mother?"
Being stared at by Arnold, Clara's heart pounded nervously.
She forced herself to stay calm: "Yes, I'm the child's mother. I already understand the situation. Whatever damages you've suffered, I'll compensate accordingly."
Arnold narrowed his eyes, those eyes seeming to penetrate her body and see her heart beating frantically with nervousness.
"The person who called me just now wasn't you."
The voice was different.
Clara couldn't show weakness, or she would definitely be exposed.
"Sir, the person who called you just now was me. Are you doubting that I'm not the child's mother?"
Arnold said nothing, staring at her with tremendous pressure.
"If you don't believe me, you can try calling that number again."
Elodie hugged Clara's neck and asked, "Mommy, can we go now?"
"Elodie, wait a bit longer. Mommy will leave after discussing with this uncle."
With the child calling Clara "Mommy," Arnold naturally couldn't doubt her words.
However, Arnold wasn't so easily fooled. "Explain why your child wrote 'wife-abandoning, child-abandoning big scumbag' on my car. Wife-abandoning, child-abandoning! Do we know each other?"
