Elodie looked up and met Arnold's eyes directly.
Bad Daddy!
Oh no!
How could it be such a coincidence?
Without a word, Elodie scrambled up to run away.
Arnold thought of the little girl who appeared at the hotel last night. Although he couldn't be certain it was her, there was a good possibility. Arnold stretched out his long arm and grabbed the little girl: "Wait."
Elodie covered her little belly.
She really needed to use the bathroom.
"How are you here?"
Elodie kept her little mouth tightly shut.
Seeing her silence, Arnold didn't let her leave.
First time at the auction house, second time at the hotel, and now at New York airport.
Meeting this little girl twice in two days was frequent enough to make Arnold suspicious.
Seeing the little girl's strange expression, Arnold crouched down and asked: "How are you here alone? Where are your parents?"
Elodie didn't know what to say.
"Did you come alone?"
She couldn't say she came with her brothers.
Elodie could only nod, and after nodding tried to run away.
So urgent, so urgent.
Arnold pulled her back again.
This little girl looked four or five years old—she flew alone from England to New York?
Before Arnold could speak, Elodie burst into tears.
Arnold was puzzled—was he that terrifying?
This little girl cried every time she saw him?
"Arnold... she wet herself!"
Victoria pointed at Elodie with disgust.
Arnold looked down and saw the little girl's pants were wet in a large patch.
Elodie felt so embarrassed and cried loudly: "Bad uncle, why did you hold onto Elodie? Elodie wanted to go pee... "
Arnold was speechless—so this little girl's strange expression earlier was because she was holding in her need to use the bathroom?
The little girl was proud, and having wet herself in public made her incredibly sad.
Arnold looked at her teardrops and felt somewhat heartbroken. He stood up, took off his suit jacket, and wrapped it around Elodie.
Victoria watched this scene and wanted to stop him: "Arnold, it's dirty. Don't bother with her."
Arnold ignored her, wrapped Elodie properly in his jacket, and picked her up: "I've covered you up. No one saw. Don't cry anymore."
Elodie's eyes and nose were red, but being wrapped in the big jacket gave her some sense of security, and she gradually stopped crying.
"Did you really come alone, or did you get separated from your parents?" Arnold asked her patiently.
Elodie couldn't say she came with her brothers.
"I came alone."
Arnold saw that this little girl didn't seem to be lying.
In this situation, Arnold couldn't just leave her here alone.
Better to investigate clearly before sending her back.
"I'll take you to change clothes, then find your parents to pick you up."
"I don't want to, I want..." brothers...
Elodie saw her two brothers who had come looking for her when she didn't return.
"Elodie!" Rowan and Callum were stunned—how did Elodie end up with Arnold?
Arnold instructed Neil to contact Elodie's parents while he carried the little girl to the car first.
Victoria stood aside, watching in disbelief the entire time.
Arnold had germaphobia—how could he?
He was being way too good to this mysteriously appearing child.
In the restroom, I tried to borrow a power bank to charge my phone and contact Clara, but Clara's phone kept not connecting.
I was getting anxious, but couldn't delay too long in the restroom, so I had to go out first.
Just as I came out of the restroom, Paisley saw Arnold carrying something as he walked outside.
Paisley asked Neil beside her: "Who is Arnold holding?"
Neil replied: "It's a little girl who came to New York alone. Sir plans to contact the little girl's parents to pick her up first."
Paisley's lips twitched—he was quite kind-hearted.
"Let's go."
Victoria and Arnold got in one car.
Paisley sat in the car behind.
"It's Mommy!" Callum and Rowan hid somewhere, watching them leave.
Rowan saw that both Paisley and Elodie had been taken away and immediately became anxious.
"This is bad—Elodie was taken by the bad daddy again. What do we do?"
Rowan didn't panic: "Don't panic first. We'll find a chance to contact Mommy later. Let's follow them for now."
The two little ones ran outside, got directly into a taxi, and had the taxi follow Arnold's convoy.
An hour later, the cars stopped at the Cavendish family's old mansion.
I hadn't been back in five years, and this place was as grand as ever. The Cavendish family belonged to New York's top elite—the size of their old mansion was imaginable. Just looking at the mansion's main gate was magnificent enough to inspire awe.
Arnold walked ahead carrying Elodie, while Victoria secretly gritted her teeth.
She thought: Arnold likes children so much—fortunately Paisley's child from back then wasn't born.
Otherwise, where would there be any place for her?
I got out of the car, and Victoria turned back to stare at me, warning coldly: "Paisley, don't think that just because you came back with us, you and Arnold still have a chance. Put away those thoughts of yours. Arnold only brought you back because Scott wanted to see you—there's no other reason."
