The photo showed the Cavendish Group hall screen displaying two small figures with large text reading "I am a scumbag, I am a bitch, we're made for each other."
Dominic said: "Last night's incident was a mysterious hacker who hacked the Cavendish system."
"Guess who did it."
My pupils contracted—someone had attacked the Cavendish Group system last night.
The small figures in the photo were obviously Arnold and Victoria.
Rowan and Callum did this?
Besides them, there was probably no one else.
I immediately understood—Rowan and Callum had hacked the company system, Arnold investigated and found my house.
Seeing me, he misunderstood that I did it, which is why he was so furious last night demanding an explanation.
Everything had a reasonable explanation.
I put away my phone, trying to appear calm, and continued: "Yes, I'm clear about it. I just can't get over yesterday when the child almost got scalded with boiling water, and my hand. You don't trust me, so I retaliated in my own way."
Arnold's expression grew colder, "Childish and boring."
I put on an angry expression and retorted: "I'm childish and boring? Arnold, yesterday she did it on purpose, otherwise how could she so precisely splash it on the child? Can't you see that at all?"
He frowned slightly, "I told you, that was an accident. She didn't do it intentionally."
I gritted my teeth, cursing him "stupid ass" in my mind.
I acted angry flawlessly, and after cursing at him, I turned and walked away.
As soon as I got out, I immediately messaged Clara, telling her Arnold hadn't discovered anything and she could come get Elodie.
Clara immediately replied with "okay."
I patted my chest, secretly relieved—I had almost let something slip.
I quickly went downstairs. Seeing me come down, Elodie happily ran over, "Mommy, when can Elodie leave?"
Seeing no one around, I excitedly hugged her and spun around twice with joy.
"Elodie, we don't have to be separated anymore, wuu wuu, you scared Mommy to death!"
Elodie was spun dizzy, blinking her big eyes in confusion at me.
"Mommy, Elodie will never be separated from Mommy."
She warmly hugged me, "Mommy don't cry, Elodie will hug you."
I let go of her, making a shushing gesture, whispering: "Elodie, don't call me 'Mommy' here, it's easy to be discovered."
"Okay, Mommy, Elodie won't call you 'Mommy' anymore." She raised her little hand to cover her mouth.
With no one around, she secretly lowered her hand and sneakily called: "Mommy, is Elodie doing this right?"
I was speechless—this silly daughter.
Just then Arnold came downstairs, seeing us two huddled together, not knowing what we were doing.
But he clearly heard Elodie say: "Mommy, Elodie missed Mommy so much..."
I touched her head, "Elodie will be able to go home with Mommy soon, are you happy?"
Arnold paused, his steps slowing down.
"Mommy?"
He was absolutely certain—Elodie had called me "Mommy," this time for real.
Elodie really was his child!
I felt a burning gaze fall from above, looked up to see Arnold standing behind us, quietly staring at me and Elodie.
That look sent chills down my spine again and again.
"A... Arnold?"
Arnold suppressed his wildly beating heart, staring straight at me, "Paisley, what do you have to say now?"
"What?" My heart tightened, Arnold's expression made my heart skip a beat.
What was he going crazy about now? It couldn't be Rowan and Callum causing more trouble, could it?
I couldn't help shivering.
"I heard everything. Elodie just called you 'Mommy.' What's the point of pretending anymore?"
Arnold's voice was low, carrying barely concealed excitement.
"Elodie really is my daughter. All your previous disguises were just acting. Back then, you really didn't abort the child."
"Huh?" My heart trembled violently.
Arnold stared at me intently, waiting for my explanation.
On the surface I appeared calm, but the moment he said those words, my back was already covered in cold sweat.
