I followed the location and raced all the way, pushing the car almost to its limit. But no matter how fast I went, that location suddenly disappeared. I slammed on the brakes, and the tires made a piercing sound.
The last position where the location appeared was a highway bridge several kilometers ahead.
I gritted my teeth, knowing that even at top speed, it would take me at least five minutes to get there - five minutes was enough for them to escape without a trace.
Despair surged toward me like a tide. I lowered my head, pressed my forehead against the steering wheel, and desperately tried to calm myself.
Without the location, I could only rely on reasoning to judge where they would take Elodie.
They had acted at the school, obviously knowing the police would investigate quickly, so they would definitely try to leave the city as soon as possible before police cordoned off the area.
And leaving in this direction, the most likely destinations were the airport or the dock.
The airport's security procedures were cumbersome and time-consuming, not conducive to their escape. In comparison, the dock was more convenient and easier to slip out of the city.
I raised my head, my gaze gradually becoming determined. Although I couldn't be certain, this was the only direction I could bet on.
Just as I was about to start the car, Rowan sent me a video.
He and Callum together had quickly restored the school gate surveillance.
I opened the video and saw a man in security uniform approach Elodie. They talked for less than a minute. Elodie sensed something was wrong and tried to run, but he grabbed her and took her away.
I stared at the man's face in the video, burning his appearance into my memory.
Without wasting a second, I restarted the car and raced toward the dock.
Just then, in the car behind, Arnold recognized my car.
He frowned and was about to catch up when he was interrupted by a phone call.
It was Victoria.
Her voice sounded anxious on the other end: "Arnold, is there any news about the child?"
He said grimly: "Not yet."
"I've already told my father. He'll send people to help too. More people, more strength - we'll definitely find the child."
"Mm." He responded casually and hung up.
At this time, I had already pushed my speed to the limit.
If Elodie was really taken out of New York, the chances of finding her would drop dramatically.
Thinking of this, I didn't dare stop at all, my foot never leaving the accelerator.
Just then, I encountered a red light ahead, and it was rush hour - the road was densely packed with cars.
I slammed on the brakes, staring at the red light ahead. Even wasting just one second made me collapse inside.
I was counting down to the green light, my palms ice cold, nearly suffocating.
Just then, from the corner of my eye, I glimpsed the driver in the car next to me. I was stunned -
It was him!
The man from the video who kidnapped Elodie!
I recognized him instantly - that kind of face you'd never forget.
The green light came on ahead, and that car suddenly shot forward. I immediately snapped back to reality, pressed the accelerator and chased after them.
I accelerated almost recklessly, quickly getting ahead of them, then suddenly swerved my car across the road, blocking them.
They braked hard, the car shaking violently. I had already jumped out and rushed to their front.
"Get out!" I roared.
The driver cursed, "Where did this crazy woman come from?"
The woman in the back seat holding Elodie narrowed her eyes and said quietly, "Drive, quick, she's here for this child."
"It's only been a few hours, how did she find us?" the man in the passenger seat was surprised.
"Cut the crap, drive now!" the woman - Black Rose - shouted harshly.
The driver came to his senses and immediately turned the steering wheel to escape.
I saw through their intention, rushed back to my car, sharply turned the steering wheel, and blocked them again.
"Screech--!" They braked hard again, nearly hitting me.
"Damn, this woman is crazy! Black Rose, I'm getting out to deal with her." The passenger cursed and pushed open the door.
I knew I couldn't fight them head-on, so I bit my teeth and pressed the horn continuously.
"Beep--beep--beep--beep--"
The piercing sound exploded on the empty street, and more and more passersby looked over.
I shouted: "Everyone call the police! They're kidnappers! They kidnapped my child! My child is in their car!"
The crowd quickly gathered, and alert passersby took out their phones to call the police.
Black Rose's expression changed. Seeing the situation was bad, she hesitated for a moment, then finally gritted her teeth and got out of the car, holding the already unconscious Elodie.
The moment I saw Elodie, I nearly lost my soul, "Elodie! Give me back my child!"
