When I reached the dock, a passenger ship had already stopped checking tickets.
I was still one step too late.
I rushed over without hesitation but was immediately stopped by a nearby staff member.
"Miss, the ship has stopped checking tickets and is about to depart. You can't go in."
"My child has been kidnapped! The kidnappers are on that ship that's about to leave! Can you delay the departure?!" I was so anxious I was nearly in tears.
"Kidnapping?"
The staff member's expression changed, seeing that my emotions were extremely unstable, and asked: "Are you saying your child has been kidnapped?"
"Yes, I'm certain! They're on that ship. I saw them coming this way with my own eyes. I chased them here!" My voice was trembling, nearly breaking down.
"Miss, please wait a moment. I'll contact my supervisor immediately."
He immediately went to make a phone call.
But just then, a piercing whistle sounded. I looked up sharply to see the passenger ship slowly departing—
No—
At that moment, all the blood in my body seemed to freeze.
I stood there, watching helplessly as the ship moved farther and farther away, my heart torn apart in an instant—
I was still one step too late.
They had taken Elodie away.
I swayed, nearly unable to stand, my knees going weak, almost falling.
The staff member hung up the phone and hurried back to tell me: "Miss, my supervisor just received word that someone called ahead to report your child's kidnapping. They've notified the ship to delay departure and are conducting an immediate search!"
I was stunned, looking at him in disbelief: "Really? Is that true?"
He nodded: "It's true, and the police are arriving shortly."
Tears streamed down my face. I quickly wiped them away and forced myself to regain my composure—
Elodie could still be saved!
A few minutes later, the police arrived and boarded the ship for a carpet search.
I followed them aboard.
Logically, the dock was sealed off - they couldn't escape. With this comprehensive search, we should definitely catch those three bastards.
But reality felt like a harsh slap in the face—
The entire ship was searched, but they couldn't find the three people!
The police frowned and asked me: "Are you sure they came to the dock?"
I nodded vigorously: "I saw them heading toward the dock with my own eyes. I couldn't be wrong."
"We've stopped all ships preparing to depart and have personnel guarding the exits. As long as they got on a ship, they can't escape."
But I knew... I knew Elodie didn't have time.
I was freezing all over, my hands shaking, my heart like it was being cut by knives.
Three hours had passed. She had a head injury and was definitely in bad condition... she couldn't hold on much longer.
Just then, a roar cut through the night.
Not far away, a private boat quickly passed through the dock waters, heading straight for the open sea.
My heart sank, staring at that boat.
All the ships had stopped, except that one was moving!
And they couldn't find anyone on the passenger ship...
I finally understood.
They never got on the passenger ship but had quietly transferred to that private boat!
"They're there!" I shouted loudly, raising my voice.
The police also saw the boat and immediately used their radios to coordinate pursuit.
I quickly got off the passenger ship and rushed to the dock's edge, just as Arnold arrived with his people.
He didn't say much, directly commandeered a private yacht, turned to me and shouted: "Get on!"
I didn't say another word and immediately jumped aboard.
On the moving boat, the three people were extremely pleased with themselves.
Did they really think they would board the passenger ship and wait to be caught?
Ridiculous.
On their way here, they had already contacted their employer to arrange for a private boat.
"Black Rose, you were so foresighted. Otherwise, we would have been in grave danger today."
Black Rose chuckled lightly, looking at Elodie who had been thrown aside.
Elodie could barely hold on anymore and didn't even have the strength to speak.
The little girl's originally pink and tender face was now pale, looking barely alive.
Black Rose walked over and grabbed Elodie's chin, saying viciously: "Little one, your mother is really capable, almost blocking our path to fortune. But unfortunately, we're still more skilled."
As soon as she finished speaking, the man beside her suddenly screamed in terror.
As if he had seen something horrible, he pointed into the distance: "Black Rose, look quickly."
Black Rose turned around and saw the scene before her, her pupils contracting sharply.
Ahead was an entire row of private boats, about twenty or so, all heading toward them in unison - an extremely spectacular sight.
The three people all trembled.
They stared for several seconds, forgetting to move.
When they finally reacted, the boats had moved even closer.
It was over...
Those boats were obviously coming for them, in a surrounding formation.
The three had never seen such a spectacular scene in their lives, their jaws dropping in shock.
Just what kind of person had they captured?
To be pursued like this.
They thought they were safe once on the boat, but what awaited them was an inescapable net.
"Damn it, didn't Victoria say she was just an ordinary child?"
This was hardly an ordinary child - those who didn't know might think they had kidnapped some country's princess.
