At this moment, the atmosphere in Victoria's hospital room was particularly lively.
Her parents Raymond and Fiona, as well as Olivia, were all present. Fiona held Victoria's hand while looking at her with heartache: "My precious daughter has never suffered such grievances. That Paisley is too much."
"Exactly." Olivia also nodded in agreement. "Fortunately Arnold stood up for you. Victoria, the most important thing now is for you to rest well and stop worrying about those dirty matters."
Victoria's eyes filled with tears as she wiped her cheeks, her expression full of grievance: "Mom, Aunt, I really didn't do anything. I don't even know that child - how could I harm her? I don't even know who she is..."
Olivia immediately curled her lips disdainfully: "Exactly. That child is just trouble. Arnold kindly let her stay one night, and she stuck to our family like a jinx that won't leave. And her mother too - always looking for Arnold when there's trouble, shameless beyond belief."
Fiona's tone was unfriendly: "I said Arnold was too soft-hearted. Now look what happened - being pestered by this mother-daughter pair, who knows how much more trouble they'll cause."
Hearing this, Olivia nodded repeatedly. In their eyes, the current situation was like being pestered by poor relatives.
Fiona patted Victoria's shoulder with heartache: "Poor our Victoria, innocently dragged into this. She did nothing wrong yet has to endure this inexplicable trouble."
Just as she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door.
The door was pushed open, and three uniformed police officers walked in.
"Hello, we're police officers." One of them showed his badge.
Everyone in the room stood up, and Victoria's face immediately turned pale.
"What... what are you here for?" Her voice carried a tremor.
"Miss Victoria Hayes, please come with us to cooperate with the investigation of a child kidnapping case." One officer spoke directly.
Two officers stepped forward, preparing to take her away.
Victoria panicked and stepped back, hiding behind Fiona, asking in terror: "What kidnapping case? I didn't do anything! Why should I cooperate with the investigation?"
Her father Raymond strode forward, blocking the police with a stern and cold expression: "Wait! My daughter knows nothing about this matter. Why are you taking her away?"
Olivia also questioned loudly: "What's going on here? Are you police just randomly arresting people now?"
Seeing everyone's agitation, the police decided to clarify the situation: "Of the two kidnappers arrested last night, one has already confessed to being hired by a woman surnamed Hayes. The boat they used to escape was your Hayes family's private yacht. We need more explanations, or would you prefer we continue discussing the details publicly in the hospital lobby?"
This caused a huge stir.
Victoria's face turned deathly pale, her lips trembled, and she kept looking to Raymond for help.
Raymond narrowed his eyes and thought for a moment, finally nodding: "Since this matter involves our Hayes family, we should naturally cooperate with the investigation. Victoria, go with them. Dad will get to the bottom of this and won't let you be wronged."
"Raymond, how can you let them take Victoria away!" Fiona cried out anxiously.
"It's just cooperation with an investigation, not a conviction. What's there to fear?"
Victoria cried and shook her head, but ultimately couldn't escape that moment.
She walked out of the room accompanied by two officers and looked up to see Arnold standing at the end of the corridor, expressionless, watching coldly.
Her heart tightened, and she nearly stumbled.
"Arnold!" Her voice was urgent, crying almost to the point of breakdown. "Arnold, you have to believe me! I didn't do it, I didn't harm that child, really didn't! I've been wronged... please believe me, okay?"
Arnold's face was so dark it could drip water.
He only said coldly: "I believe in the evidence I see with my own eyes."
These words hit Victoria's heart like a heavy hammer.
Her hope crumbled instantly. Tears fell like broken pearls as she shook her head, continuously denying in a low voice: "No... it wasn't me... it wasn't me..."
Teardrops traced sad arcs under the corridor lights, while Arnold never said another word.
I was standing in the hospital corridor, watching Victoria being taken away by the police.
To be honest, I came specifically to watch - I wanted to see with my own eyes her paying the price for her actions.
She spotted me immediately, then her expression changed, as if grasping at a lifeline, directing all her anger at me.
"Paisley!" she suddenly shouted, her voice trembling but sharp. "It's you! You can't stand me, so you bribed the police to frame me, right? How many bad things did you say about me to Arnold? You're slandering me!"
