After a fascinating conversation with Cillia, a tall and sleek anthropomorphic Orca with a glossy black and white coat, and Kara, a petite yet muscular anthro shark with a distinctive grey and white pattern, I realized it was late. We should head to bed.
Once we were finished with the food displayed on the table, I was able to help Kara clean the dishes and the trash that contained the remnants of food.
Once that was all setup, I could tell as I was helping Kara wash the dishes with a sponge and soap. The bubbles from the first part of the water and the sponge caused the soap from both to create bubbles as I scrubbed the sides of the plates inside the sink.
A sense of unease crept over me as I worked in the kitchen. It felt like Cillia's eyes were on me, but I couldn't tell if it was a predatory stare or one of curiosity.
Cillia joined Kara and me in dishwashing, drying the dishes as a team, and placing the clean dishes back in the cupboards. Our synchronized movements and shared tasks created a sense of unity in the kitchen.
So, once that was finished, and from our adequate talks at the table, Cillia enjoyed our discussions, and strangely enough, I assumed Cillia was a handshake.
Once we cleaned up the place and everything was back in place, Kara hugged Cilia, and they took a moment to talk.
I gave them a moment, so I looked around, wondering if we missed anything that might've needed extra cleaning.
My train of thought was abruptly interrupted when I felt a pair of giant, dinner plate-sized fish-webbed hands.
Looking up, I saw they belonged to Cillia, an anthropomorphic Orca. Her toothy grin was slightly intimidating as she drew me into a tight embrace, her arms wrapping around my upper torso and her head resting on my light brown hair. I could feel the force of her breath against my skin.
I wasn't sure what she was doing, but she hugged me for over a minute, and her hug was slightly stronger than I anticipated. I could take a hint of her scent and smell the beach of the sand and salt water, as well as another scent that I assumed was coconuts.
"Hm, I guess they have similar food and elemental planetary traits back on Earth," I thought. Suddenly, I felt Cillia over my shoulder, her snout brushing slightly against the left side of my ear.
I heard her strong and vibrant breathing that sent a chill down the backbones of my spine. Her cultural norms, which involved close physical contact and direct communication, differed from mine, and I was still trying to understand them.
"See you later, handsome," Cillia said, her tone filled with flirtations, which I found very hard to believe, especially when someone perceived me as an alien.
I was left in a state of bewilderment. Cillia, an orca, had just called me 'handsome'- a word I never expected to hear from her. Her sudden display of affection was as surprising as it was unsettling.
As she released me from her embrace, her toothy grin was unnerving, to say the least. I couldn't help but feel a mix of surprise, discomfort, and a hint of fear at the situation.
Kara seemed bewildered by what Cillia had just spoken to me. When Cillia moved away from me, turning toward the door, Kara gave her a look that involved her furrowing her brows at the orca before closing the door, unsure of what had just happened.
"What was all that about?" I couldn't help but wonder, the confusion in the air palpable. Cillia's behavior had left me with more questions than answers, and I was eager, almost desperate, to unravel the mystery.
When Kara's gaze returned to me, I could see the uncertainty in her eyes. She seemed hesitant, unsure whether sharing her thoughts would help me understand what had happened.
"... It's...nothing," Kara said, her tone was uncertainty.
I nodded, knowing and wanting to understand, but if Kara didn't feel comfortable sharing her initial thoughts, which I respected.
A slight assumed tension was broken when I asked Kara if I could sleep on the couch. A pillow and a blanket would do the trick. I've slept in worse places despite the outdoor atmospheric temperatures being a little high. I assumed they were about 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but thankfully, I would be able to sleep tonight.
After I asked about this, Kara gave me what I thought was a bumped-out face, yet she still kept her smile and nodded, "Of course, there should be a spare blanket and pillow upstairs, i'll be right back."
I nodded to her and walked over to the couch while Kara walked up the stairwell.
Sitting on the cushioned mattress of the couch, I waited patiently for the blanket and pillow.
Immersing to where I was, I heard the strong wind and the forces of the waves crashing down into the shares of the sanded parts of the beach; it felt like I was immersed in a nature soundtrack.
Closing my eyes for a moment felt soothing. It didn't put me on edge, and I felt at peace.
I wasn't sure if this world would accept me or if this place would be heaven or hell. It was as if it were a dream; even if it was, I didn't want to leave it. But I accepted it, whatever it was.
But that was cut to a close when I assumed nobody was in the room. I heard someone call my name and opened my eyes, looking to see nothing but hearing my name again.
I turned to look up to see Kara looking at me with a concerned look, holding a pillow and blank in her mighty arms that could crush me easily, possibly.
"Micheal?"
"Yes?"
"Are you okay, you seemed like you were...meditating?"
"Hm? Oh, yeah I am, I was just...yeah I was kind of mediating."
She looked confused, and I wasn't sure how to explain it, so I changed the subject, noticing the pillow and blanket.
"Great, you were able to find a blanket and pillow."
Kara looked at me for a moment, a look of suspicion on her face, but she seemed to take a moment to change the subject I just made.
She carefully handed them to me, and after grabbing the two, I was able to set them on the couch's mattress.
I was struggling a little bit with the blanket. I felt a pair of hands help me grab it and place it on me, and I saw it was Kara.
I was confused, but she just smiled at me gently, and then she walked off before she turned off the lights on the house's first floor. She stopped to look at me. Her gaze was gentle, and what seemed from the look on her face was a form of care as well.
"Good night micheal."
"Goodnight, Kara," I said.
She turned off the lights and then started her way up the stairs.
Hearing her footsteps echo from the steps she took, I looked up at the ceiling and saw only white. Then, I listened to the ocean, the waves rushing and clashing with the edges of the island.
With the two combined, I felt my eyelids drooping, and gravity closed them. Soon, I was submerged in darkness and drifted into a deep sleep.
