I found myself in a dream, a surreal experience that stirred a mix of emotions. I couldn't discern if it was a nightmare or a blissful reverie, but it was vividly unfolding in my mind.
I was dreaming of floating in space, wearing my whole pilot suit.
But what felt like the atmosphere was reflecting from the beams of the sun that slowly rose from the edge of the arc-shaped orb part of the planet to reveal the power of its light and reveal a sudden form of light that illuminated different spectrums of light.
Witnessing the most breathtaking sight, I saw the sun's radiant beams reflecting and illuminating the planet's atmosphere and its layers. It was a view akin to those who had ventured to the ISS (International Space Station) They would stand at the view hatch, gazing out of the open vacuum-sealed window panels, marveling at the beauty of space. And here I was, dreaming of a similar spectacle.
The view was so breathtaking that it stirred a desire to weep. The celestial spectacle was overwhelming, the stars too numerous to count, and the beauty too magnificent to fully comprehend.
"If only people could see that we live in a world where we could change it, for the better, by just looking up at the stars and realizing this world we live in is bigger than all of us."
"Putting aside the politics, the greed, the hatred, the anger, and conflict, we could make the impossible into a reality."
"And to realize how beautiful it is," I thought in my dream. And continued to think.
We dreamt of a transformation, a change that would redefine our existence. We aspired to be part of something extraordinary, something that would reshape everything, including ourselves.
"We dreamed of being explorers, adventurers, pioneers, exploring the unknown, the uncharted."
I felt sad even though I was dreaming. I felt both happy and sad to see what we could have accomplished, but I wouldn't be able to go home and see the future of what my kind would do on Earth. I was stuck in a world that was beautiful and yet foreign to the sight of my eyes.
But amidst this grandeur, my thoughts turned to the one person who had been my savior.
"Kara..." I said in my dream that I wasn't sure whether what I was saying was coming from the conscious part of my brain, or even though I was in my subconscious, I knew I was dreaming; I was somehow able to tell when I was in a dream or when I was awake.
Before I could look further drifting into space, it was starting to anticipate and fade, and to see my dream was fading and realizing I was waking up, my vision was readjusted, and to see me opening my eyes lids, and be greeted by a great breeze, and a small ray of light leaking between the curtains next to me.
Slightly readjusting my blurry vision, I was able to see the white-painted ceiling. Grunting and slightly stretching my arms, I was able to take a moment to stretch my arms after I took a moment to relax my muscles from my sleeping position. I looked around and saw the sun rising from the window, which was the source of the sun's light, and from there, it shone on the beach.
Rising from the blanket that covered me and from the couch, I raised my legs, adjusting myself as I lifted the blanket off of me, swung my feet over, and planted them over the edge of the couch's cushions.
Slightly a few inches from the floor, my two legs dangling in midair.
Looking out to see the window open and the curtain that was slightly moving from the wind that leaked inside the room I was in, I was dumbfounded by how beautiful it was when I was able to catch a glimpse of the trees on the beach and the shoreline and to hear the sound of the water brushing against the sand.
Enjoying the sound and feeling a good moment of relaxation from the sounds of nature, I perked up when I heard a flood of heavy footsteps growing closer and, slightly yet louder, I turned my body slightly, including my head, to find out who it was that was up as well as me.
As for my prediction, it was Kara, but something was different when she came down, and I noticed her face; she seemed to be in a good mood. What confused me more was that I seemed to see that she wasn't wearing her glasses, and she wasn't even wearing her earrings, either.
She was wearing what looked to be an oversized grey t-shirt that had a little faded green-colored alien on the front of it. The shirt that she was wearing was designed to hide her private parts. I assumed it was inappropriate for me to notice. Still, she wore underwear, and this left me confused as to why she would wear such an outfit, especially in front of me.
But I didn't care; at least, it was something I assumed she wore every morning when she woke up and got ready for her day.
Thankfully, she didn't seem to notice me staring, so I diverted my gaze to her and her choice of clothing, hoping that she didn't notice because I didn't want her to assume I was insulting, rude, and impolite.
Anyway, taking one glance back at Kara, I assumed she wore contact lenses and even noticed a small hole that I thought was where she had her usual earrings on her fin-like ears.
But that all answered my question when I noticed her hair was slightly damp, to see her hair curled up in a bun, and to see small streaks of water droplets from her wet, sleek, slightly exposed skin, and assuming so, she didn't have to have it in her face. There were some strands of her hair on the side of her face, but she didn't seem that affected by the rogue hairs that were either between her eyes or from the sides of her head.
I was about to acknowledge her, but just at that very moment, she looked at me, grinning with her toothiest smile.
"Hey, you're awake!" she exclaimed. She seemed...joyful, possibly excited even.
"Yeah," I said. My tone was mutual but optimistic to let her know that I slept pretty well despite sleeping on a couch with just a pillow and blanket. It turns out that it went on and worked out better than I expected.
She smiled, walked over to me, and rested her arms and upper body slightly against the back of the couch's headrest, looking in my direction.
"Did you sleep well?"
Before I was about to answer her question, the light from the sun, from which the white sil. The drapes were from the wind, the outside parts of the breached house creeping in. It brushed one of the drapes to reveal the light from the sun, and it was beaming directly on Kara. I froze with sudden surprise, and I saw...beauty.
The reflection from her skin was reflected and shone slightly from the source specks of light, and to see that, they glowed as if she had small speckled crystal spots on her light grey skin.
And that's what, all the light from her eyes was just as impossible to turn away. I didn't know what I was feeling, but I was interrupted when I began to notice a look of confusion start to form from both her brows and eyes.
"Michael?" Kara asked.
"Hm? Oh! Yeah, no, I slept better than I expected, thank you!"
Her caring smile returned, but before Kara's expression changed, she gave me a small yet quick, hesitant glance before lifting herself back up to her full height and quickly getting away, heading over to the kitchen.
She cleared her throat, and I thought I might've been wrong or hallucinating, but I could've sworn I saw her blush just at that moment when she reached up to a high part of the shelving of a cupboard and pulled out two white coffee mugs.
Noticing her sudden behavior, she looked, yet seemed distant, as if she couldn't speak to me about something.
But I wasn't going to pressure her.
She looked at me and gestured with the two cups in her one mighty, webbed hand, giving me a questioning look.
"Coffee?" Kara asked. Offering me a morning beverage, I was surprised that in this world, they had a similar resource of choice as well on Earth.
