Kara and I walked through the sand, and I noticed that she was walking barefoot. Her dark grey skin pressed against the particles of her hand with each step, making a footprint against the small yet noticeable depths of the sand.
As I noticed, I was careful not to be knocked off balance by her giant shark tail. However, I didn't want to tell or describe it to her because she might be insulted, so I kept that to myself.
Besides that, I was walking with my helmet and the fuel source in both hands, slightly struggling because the fuel rod was taking more of my balance and weight. I was walking like a penguin, wobbling from side to side to create enough movement to catch up with Kara's walking endurance and unpredictable agility.
When she was about to turn to look down in my direction, she stopped to notice I was struggling with the stuff I was holding, and she walked over with a concerned expression on her face.
"Hey..."
I looked up to meet her eyes.
"Are you okay?"
"Pfff, yeah, I'm fine; I'm just struggling," I said, laughing. My tone made the situation awkward and unsettling, but Kara didn't seem to buy what I was saying, giving me a skeptical and confused look.
After silence, she raised her hand to the fuel rod and gestured in my direction with her goddess-yet-giant hands.
"let me help you."
I was about to refuse her offer, but she didn't seem to be the kind of person who didn't or wasn't forced to do anything, yet she did it out of the kindness of her heart.
Considering her offer, I gave her the fuel source.
She lifted it as if it did not affect her, holding it between her fished webbed hands. Engulfing the container slightly with her two mighty hands, she made sure not to drop it. Looking at it momentarily, she was interested in what I was carrying.
She noticed the small 20-sided dice-shaped object inside it floating in a clear liquid fluid.
"What is this?" she asked, signaling curiosity about the fuel source.
Looking at her, I wasn't sure if trusting her with something that might be new to her or even if there were others out there who would use this technology from my kind, but after what she did saving my life and not wanting anything from it, no catch but her intentions were from actual actions, and that wasn't very common back on earth, but it wouldn't hurt to tell her what she was holding.
"It's...it's a fuel source," I said, taking a minute to look back at her, only for her to look from me to the fuel source.
"Hold on, was this 'fuel source' used for the craft you were in?" she asked, hoping that her question was correct.
"Yes."
Her eyes went wide in surprise, "Really?"
"It was supposed to help crack the speed on the aircraft, but somehow, the fuel source that you are holding must've caused some kind of quantum rip between space and time and...well, brought me here."
She looked surprised and curious, but she seemed to believe that a being or a creature like me could travel that fast, fast enough to break the fabric of space and time and bring me here.
Kara looked at me hesitantly, but I noticed the expression on her face. I shook my head, waving my hand away to let her know that I wasn't insane or I was a complete nutjob, despite that those were two similar things.
"But I'm just saying it could be possible," I said.
"Theoretically, you mean," she said.
I was surprised by the term she used, and I nodded knowingly.
"Yes, theoretically."
"Well, despite your current situation, I'm grateful you came to this world, Michael," she said, her smile slowly sprouting from her lips.
Confused about why she would say something like that, I nodded knowingly, unsure of what to say, but all that came to my mind was, "Likewise."
Kara then swung the fuel rod over her shoulder, causing the ci Rainer to rest on her shoulder, "Come on, we're not too far from the beach house."
We continued walking through the sand and stopped after a moment or so. I froze when I saw a modern beach house that looked very high-end and intricate, geometric and stylish at all times, and clean and pleasant.
"This is your beach house?" pointing to it and looking at her.
She rubbed her free hand behind her head, looking at me and then at the house with an uneasy expression.
"Well...sort of. It's a rental; I use it occasionally whenever I need a break from the outside world. This beach house is a pretty common one that I use quite often, but it has everything I need, so I wouldn't have to worry if I needed to resupply. But I'm thankful we're on a remote island. The house has power, water supply, and everything you need. This house has it." Kara explained.
She walked forward and passed me, still taken back by the beach house. She noticed I was following her, and she broke my gaze off the outside part of the structural exterior of the building.
"Are you coming?" She asked. Her tone was mutual; I could have sworn I heard her small laugh when she asked me.
"Hm? Oh! yes!" I said, taking a moment to jog up to her.
Kara chuckled and then guided me with her to the front door.
She reached for the handle and opened it; I was taken back to what I saw once she opened the door. The inside of it was even nicer and cleaner.
In the living room, she had an oversized caramel-colored couch facing the beach, an innate squared glass window, and a view of the sun setting on the water's horizon.
I noticed she had a dining table big enough for two people, even though the table had only one chair.
The kitchen was huge, with an island table in the middle, and to see that the counter was made of some grey and white stone or marble material then.
To catch a flight of wooden yet polished wood that was made into a flight of stairs that led to the second floor of the beach house.
Taking a further step inside, I was surprised to see that the interior was made of dark and light brown wood polished on the ceiling and walls.
It was like every local person's dream house, and the furniture and decorating looked similar to the stuff back in my world called IKEA, where most furniture and other stuff were for putting things in your house.
After noticing the walls and the structural integrity of the walls and the ceiling, the floors were made of the same material as the walls and ceiling.
Kara watched me as I was observing the place. She closed the door and ultimately set the fuel source against the wall.
However, as I continued to observe a little further, I was slightly surprised to see a few empty chip bags and energy drinks on the floor, and Kara noticed slightly blushing out of embarrassment. And quickly, out of sudden action, she slightly stuttered as if the sudden guest embraced her. I was to her.
"Sorry, I wasn't expecting guests. I'm usually not this messy," she said, quickly grabbing the rogue chips and crushed energy drink cans and putting them in a place I assumed was the rash and recycling.
I looked at her and shook my head. Then, I placed my helmet against a wall near the front door, next to the fuel source.
"It's okay. I don't think it looks that bad," I said reassuringly.
Kra looked at me and smiled at me genuinely.
Suddenly, when she was putting the last pieces of the empty chip bags in the trash, she ruffled her air up and swung it back her head.
To my surprise, she focused on a mirror to help her with her hair.
She pulled a hairband from the presumed Dmap clothes she was still wearing and tied the hair on her head into a ponytail.
I looked at her slightly and saw she even looked more. I didn't know what I had got over me just from looking at her, but she looked more exquisite than when I first saw her. She looked beautiful, but I grunted, shaking my head and closing to let go of that thought.
"she's just helping you; be grateful she was able to save you." I aggressively thought to myself.
"Michael?"
I perked up when I heard Akra's voice. I looked to see if she had finished her ponytail, and she looked at me curiously.
"Are you okay?"
"yeah, just something was bugging me, is all," I said, hoping that what I said wouldn't cause her to press on to what was bugging me.
She nodded and then spoke photonic to the fridge.
"Okay, um...do you want anything?" she asked, mentioning the refrigerator.
"Uh, yeah. Could I have a glass of water?"
She perked up her ear slightly, slightly perking up from my answer. "Of course, the house is a filtering system that uses ocean water, runs through it here, and filters it to be strong enough to be fresh water," she explained.
"That's pretty cool," I muttered. I watched as Kara grabbed a glass from one of the cupboards, closed it, and brought it to the sink.
She turned on the handle that gently gushed water from the faucet's underway into the glass.
Once it was complete, she turned off the water and approached me. With her open hand, she gestured the glass to me, which I took with my gloved hand.
After a minute of consideration, I removed my left glove, hearing it click as it disconnected from the wrist part of the suit.
I could use my bare hand to grab it from her, but she looked at my hand. Her eyes widened as she watched me take the glass from her.
"Thank you," I said
She nodded respectfully.
I took the glass of water and brought it to my lips, chugging every last drop.
"Gosh, am I really that thirsty? It must be because I'm wearing the suit and sweating, which probably caused me to be dehydrated," I thought.
After drinking the water, I caught my breath and looked at Kara; she looked at me with concern.
"I'm okay, just a liitle thirsty, is all," I said, taking a few breaths.
"A little thirsty?"
"Okay, maybe I was really thirsty," I said defeatedly.
She chuckled and then walked away, passing me as I headed toward the stairs. She turned to look at me from the corner of her eyes and said, "I'm going to change. I'll be right back."
I nodded, but before she returned to heading up and turned her head to face the stairs, I spoke to her, causing her to stop.
"Kara."
She turned back to me.
"I just wanted to thank you for...saving me; if it weren't for you, I would've been struggling in the water," I said, hoping she would appreciate my gratitude.
"...of course...I'm glad that we crossed paths, Micheal." She said.
As she continued the steps, her tail dragging along, I could swear that I saw a bright yet undeniable smile cross her face.
I also saw her tail slightly wagged, but not aggressively but slow, intricate up and down movement similar to when a dog wagged its tail out of happiness or excitement.
I shrugged it off but thought to myself.
"I wonder what that was about?" I thought to myself.
