Later that night Lisa brought Jennie to her favorite Italian restaurant. She kept refusing her offer to eat out and making excuses but the Thai couldn't careless and drag her out.
"You should try this." Lisa softly said while putting pasta on her plate. "I've been eating this dish since I was a kid. This is the next best thing to home cooked meals."
Jennie noticed a small group of women on a table near them. They've been staring at them since they walked in on that restaurant. She saw Lisa smiled at them when they entered the building.
”Lisa-yah.." she hesitantly said. "Do you know those girls?"
Lisa gave a quick glance at the table she discreetly pointed. "Most of them." She answered while nodding.
"How about the girl in blue?"
"She's Kang Sujin." Lisa was busy chewing on a square shaped agnolotti.
"She's beautiful." she commented. She remembered someone named 'Sujin' also called the Thai when they were in Gangwon.
Lisa smiled and touch her chin to make Jennie face her before bringing her attention back to her food. "Is there anyone that could be more beautiful than you in my eyes?”
"Be serious, Lalisa."
"I am serious."
"I think she adores you. You both look good together." Jennie was just saying it but it feels like her heart is being squeeze tightly.
"Everybody used to think so too." Lisa respond absentmindedly. "Hon, Sujin is my ex-girlfriend."
Jennie's heart took another one of those piercing stab wounds again. "You should get back together with her again."
Lisa stops from eating and frowned at her. "Why would I do that when I already have you?"
"You can always have me, Lisa. I'm just here whenever you want me. But you need to have a woman who you can introduce to--"
"Why is it everytime that we talk about this my day is being ruined?" Lisa's voice dripping with sarcasm.
Silence.
Lisa excused herself to break the tension between them. She knew all the eyes were directly at her and Jennie, especially the group where her ex-girlfriend is in.
Inside the bathroom, she washes her hands and face with the warm water. A conflict with Jennie is the last thing she needs right now. Especially now knowing that all the people around her were against her relationship with Jennie.
After exiting the washroom Lisa wasn't able to see Jennie because she was being covered by four women who are now standing right in front of their table. A few more steps and it was finally shown to her what was happening, she saw how Sujin was gripping on Jennie's hair tightly.
"Let go of me." Jennie cried out while trying to free herself from the hands keeping her still on the chair.
Lisa froze on the spot and was unable to move. She never expected to see her ex-girlfriend acting like that. Despite her being wild in bed she knew Sujin was very well educated and from a respectable family.
Lisa only came back to her senses when Jennie screamed in pain as Sujin pulled her hair aggressively. "Bitch!" she shouted right on Jennie's face.
All the people inside that restaurant were only watching them. The others look amazed and the others were enjoying it like it's some kind of a scene in a drama.
"Stop it!" Lisa shouted as she made her way to their table. She quickly went to Jennie's side and protectively embraced her.
Lisa kept cursing silently seeing all the small scratches on Jennie's face. Sujin including her friends must've already hurt her before she even came back. Lisa literally needed to shut her eyes closed tightly and took a deep breath to calm herself.
Everyone turn silent.
Lisa assisted Jennie to stand up and grab her bag which was beside her.
"I'll let this pass for now." Lisa spoke with a calm but menacing voice. "But the moment something like this happened to her again... even if you just touch her fingertips, you're gonna have to deal with me!"
Lisa kept on sighing deeply. This is the first time that she felt really mad. The only thing that was stopping her to hit them was that they were girls.
Everything happened so fast for Jennie. The only thing that she remembers was when Kang Sujin went to their table and how they started to throw shade towards each other. But she wasn't able to fight back since there were four of them and she's just alone. It was a one sided bout.
Now Lisa was guiding her towards the glass door exiting the building after putting down money on the table as a payment for the food they eat. Everyone was looking at them like they were colorful fishes inside a fishtank. No one even dared to breathe. There was dead silence.
"Lisa-ssi, you're out of your mind!" Sujin yelled out.
Once again it was silence.
"I can't believe that you really choose a whore over me."
That was the last straw, Lisa stops from walking. She let out a sneer and turns to Sujin. "She was a virgin when I had her Sujin-ssi." she was calm but her voice was firm. "If you still think that she's a whore, what should we call you then?"
Jennie saw how the three women smiled secretly along with the other people who heard it. Lisa, more than anyone else, should know that her former girlfriend was no saint.
"You bitch!" she screech.
Like a kid, Jennie rested her head on Lisa's chest while she was driving. She let herself cry. For every drop of her tears she could feel her breathing heavily from anger mixed with worry.
"I-I don't want to go home just yet, Lisa."
"Where do you want to go?" Lisa kept her eyes on the road.
"Anywhere."
Lisa tap her phone and made a call. "Hello, Somi. I'll be away for a few days..."
They arrived at a long island through a chartered plane which has landed on a small but modernist airport that was built in the middle of it. On the other side of the airport she saw a chopper landed, a tall and handsome man hopped out of it who wave at their direction. Lisa nods at him as a response.
For once in her life, Jennie believed that money can buy peace and happiness. The island is a proof of it. Every part of the island reminded her of luxury. The pristine white sand and greenish blue water wrapped her heart with childlike warmth.
She was a like a little kid who couldn't wait to make her own sand castle on the beach sand and play on the sea. Who would've thought that there was an island this beautiful on this part of South Korea.
"What's the name of this place?" Jennie ask Lisa when she saw the houses lining up like they were in a competition of which is the most luxurious looking while they were on the road on their way to Lisa's house.
"This place doesn't have a name." Lisa simply stated with her arm wrapped around her shoulders. She was wearing dark sunglasses while her hair was dancing with the wind. She was gorgeous as usual.
"Huh? Is that even possible?"
"Well, as far as the property owners are concerned, this island doesn't exist." Lisa explained. "What's the point of all these if they were going to make it into a tourist attraction."
"Then what about the golf courses and spa resorts that we passes by, how are they going to earn if there were no tourist?"
"Everything else in this island is 'free' and exclusive. We already paid for it a hundred times over." Lisa was pertaining to the other lands and home owners on that island.
"An island with no name..." Jennie whispered.
"The houses have names though. That one is called Milky." he pointed a Contemporary style villa on the left side.
She almost burst out laughing. That resthouse is too extravagant looking to have a simple name.
Now she's questioning herself if it was right to call these houses on the island as 'resthouses' when they're as huge as those houses on some of the exclusive subdivisions in Seoul.
Even with all the different style and design, she is nonetheless awed by the wide spaces in each of the houses. Like they're not even worried or scared to be robbed or to have a stranger lurking inside their house with bad intension.
"How about that one?" she pointed the house on top of a hill. It was made of steel bars and transparent glass.
"I don't know." Lisa shrugged her shoulder. "Ahn Minhyuk-ssi haven't thought of a name yet."
She nods slightly.
"But do you see that one made of cedar wood?" She was also amazed by the beauty of the huge infinity pool in front of that resthouse. "The owner says that she doesn't have any plans on naming her house."
"Somi?"
Lisa laugh. "Jeongdab!"
They were already infront of the house made with mix elements of woods and concrete. Almost all of the structure is painted in white, that were highlighted by the parts made of cedar wood and expensive type of rattan.
She also noticed the enormous balcony that graced the third floor. Although a family of ten can live comfortably inside it, the house still looked warm and cozy, because of the materials that were used to build it. It is the exact opposite of Lisa's apartment in Seoul.
Jennie looked at the house with admiration. Out of nowhere she voices out the question that suddenly came in to her mind and it's too late for her to hold herself back.
"Will you call her 'Jennie'?" Her eyes were still glued to the house. I already did.
"Uhm..." Lisa acted like she was thinking about it too hard, a half smile curving her lips. "Just promise me you will behave." she finally said and chuckles before she pinched the smaller woman's nose.
Jennie rolled her eyes in fake disdain.
"Come." Lisa wrapped her arm around her waist. "Let's go swimming in my bed."
The moment they steps inside the room Lisa didn't waist more time. She held Jennie in her arms and kissed her. The tall women peeled the clothes off her body one by one and she did the same to Lisa.
Jennie was yearning to feel Lisa's body like she never did before. It was something more than a physical need. Even if she didn't say it she knew Lisa also feels the same. Her kisses and caresses tell her so.
They explore each other's naked body. Lisa was tender yet passionate. Like always, Jennie gave herself to her without any reservation. She almost screamed Lisa's name when she reached another climax.
Two days had already passed when they came in that island. Both were lying down on an oval shaped daybed that was placed in the cabin at the lawn of the resthouse. It's roof has a huge skylight where you can view the night sky and watch the stars.
The night air was cold but Jennie's heart was warm, because of these stolen moments where she could freely be with Lisa. Sometimes it's easy to forget the reality when she's with her.
If only Jennie could ask Lisa not to go back in Seoul and just stay there.
"Jennie.." Lisa called her name in a whisper while comfortably lying her head in her own hand. It feels like there was huge lump in her throat that was trying to stop her from talking.
"Hmm?" Jennie slightly glance at the woman. She refused to take her eyes off the stars that shined like amethyst in heaven.
"..you will marry me, okay." Lisa whisper with her eyes closed like she was about to fall asleep.
Jennie's head snapped towards the Thai. She went up from laying and shook the woman in her stomach. "Lisa-yah, wake up. Let's talk. Tell me you're just joking!"
"Jennie-yah, it's not my style to joke when it comes to stuff like this." Lisa answered in a serious voice with her eyes still close. She placed her arm on her forehead as a sign that she didn't want to be disturbed.
"Why?" Jennie still ask in confusion.
Lisa opens her eyes and sit beside her. "What do you mean by why?" she ask back.
"You just ask me to marry you!" Jennie stated like she was about to go hysterical. Now their situation got a little more complicated. "I'm a courtesan, Lisa... a dignified prostitute!"
Lisa sighed deeply like she's trying the gain strength with the air. "Omo, jinjja?" Because she was taller than her she had to crouch to stare right to her eyes. "I didn't know that." She said like she never once thought of her as a sex worker.
"M-Maybe you're just feeling guilty.." Jennie said though she already know that it's not related to what they were talking about. "You told everyone that I was a virgin when we first--"
"That's stupid." Lisa cut her off like she was getting annoyed. "I've had my share of virgins before, but that didn't make me want to marry them."
"Then why?" Jennie ask irritated. "Why do you want to marry me when I can be your mistress forever?"
It took long before Lisa speak again. She ran her fingers through Jennie's face as if tracing every minute detail of it like she did in that old manor in Gangwon-do.
"I love you." It was not an answer to Jennie's question. It was a declaration. "I already loved you that morning when I woke up beside you and probably even before that." Lisa said like she was indicating about something. "I want us to raise a family. Three kids if you're up to it."
If Lisa said those words in a different time Jennie may have been screaming and jumping in joy. She bent her head down and avoided Lisa's gaze. She's not prepared to what she said.
"Lisa, you have no idea what you're talking about." Jennie shook her head.
Once again Jennie's thoughts were flooded with all the complications that was ruining their relationship. What more if finds out the truth?
"Jennie..." Lisa called her name while her hand was trying to lift her face to see her eyes. "I will marry you because I love you. Whatever it is that was attached to your past we will forget all about it from now on."
Jennie stood up and sigh deeply.
"I'm not going to marry you, Lisa. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not ever." Jennie stated in a cold tone and turn towards the house. "I'll go back inside."
All Lisa could do was to watch her walk towards the house while playing with a ring in her hand. Sadness cross upon her face.
"If only I could buy your heart too..." Lisa whisper.
