"I do."
I heard my own voice, filled with laughter, ring out.
Pink rose petals fluttered down from above as friends cheered all around us.
I was reborn again.
This time, at the scene of Preston's proposal to me.
He was down on one knee, about to slip the ring onto my finger.
I yanked my hand back and kicked him over.
"We're breaking up! I don't accept!"
With that, I turned and ran.
I had to get to the airport immediately to pick up Marina.
In my previous life, Preston had gone straight to the airport to pick up the returning Marina right after putting that ring on my finger.
Then their old flames rekindled, spiraling out of control.
This time, I was going to completely prevent them from meeting.
As long as they never saw each other, Marina wouldn't fall in love with him again, wouldn't get pregnant with his child, and wouldn't go down that desperate path.
I'd barely taken a few steps when Preston suddenly grabbed me from behind, his voice choked: "Thank God, Sage, you're alive."
My whole body went rigid.
Had he been reborn too?
He turned me around, his hands trembling as he checked my entire body, letting out a long sigh of relief after confirming I was unharmed.
"I made things clear with Marina. I love you—I'll only marry you. She said she understood and even blessed us... then she had someone deliver a gift box, saying it was a wedding present."
My pupils contracted sharply: "You're saying Marina caused the wedding explosion?"
Preston nodded heavily.
I shoved him away, my voice shaking:
"That's because you humiliated her! Making her put on a wedding dress only to tell her she wasn't the bride!"
"You drove her to it! Preston, you got everyone killed!"
Preston's arms visibly stiffened, his eyes reddening: "Sage, I just wanted to teach her a lesson. She used that child to..."
"Shut up!" I cut him off sharply. "I don't want to hear your excuses! We're breaking up—it's completely over! I'm going to pick up Marina now, and you better not show your face around her!"
His eyes suddenly lit up:
"Sage, you don't want me to see her—do you still care about me?"
I laughed coldly:
"Think whatever you want."
Someone who'd died three times and still had any lingering feelings for him would have to be brain-dead.
I stood at the airport exit holding flowers, spotting Marina from afar as she emerged with her luggage.
"Marina, welcome back to the country." I handed her the bouquet.
She accepted the flowers in confusion: "You are?"
"Executive President of Sinclair Group, Sage Sinclair." I smiled and handed her my business card. "I'd like to hire you as an investment consultant."
Seeing her hesitation, I added:
"Your full scholarship performance during your Master's in Finance at Nottingham was outstanding—exactly what we need. The salary and benefits will definitely satisfy you."
She studied the business card carefully and finally smiled: "Thank you, Ms. Sinclair. I'll give it my all."
I secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
This job would keep her busy beyond belief.
High pay, high pressure, high intensity—let's see if she still had the energy to think about that scumbag.
I took Marina's hand as we got into the waiting Bentley, catching a glimpse of Preston's dark expression as he hid behind a pillar.
"Ha." I let out a cold laugh.
As long as I was around, he could forget about hurting Marina ever again.
I called the butler:
"Uncle Wayne, get my friend settled in the apartment next to Sinclair estate And arrange 24-hour security."
However, three days later, the butler approached me with a grave expression, holding a pregnancy test:
"Miss, this was found in Miss Marina's bathroom."
Two bright red lines stabbed at my eyes.
Marina was pregnant?!
