Robert and Vera got back to the apartment and found Preston asleep on the couch.
“Poor thing, he must have not gotten enough sleep last night.” Vera said as she placed a blanket over Preston.
“Who would on that thing you call a pull out bed?” Robert replied.
“Oh shut up Robert, it’s not that bad.”
“Well you haven’t tried to sleep on it yet.”
“Oh whatever, come let’s take Preston’s things to his room.” Vera grabbed the first box and went to the spare bedroom. Robert stayed behind and watched Preston sleep. He looked so peaceful; Robert could just watch him sleep all day.
“You know that’s  creepy right?” Vera said when she came back for another box.
“No it’s not,” Robert said as he picked up a box and followed Vera. When they finished putting all of Preston’s things away, Robert had to get ready for work. He told Vera to stay with Preston until he got out. When Preston finally woke up, he found Vera in the kitchen make them dinner. He took a seat at the table while she finished.
“How long had I been out for?” Preston asked.
“I’m not sure, when we got back we found you asleep on the couch. So was it better then my couch?”
Preston laughed.  “Yeah it was so much better. Where is Robert?”
“Oh he is at work, but he will be home soon.”
“I didn’t know he worked, I just thought that since his family had money he wouldn’t have to work.”
“You will have to ask him about it; it’s not really my place to say anything.”
“Ok so what’s for dinner?”
“Spaghetti and meatballs, I hope you like.”
“Yeah it’s one of my favorites, is it almost ready?”
“No it won’t be ready for another few minutes, made it late so Robert could join us. You should go see how we set up your room.”
“Ok I guess I can go check out my new room.”
“Ok I’ll be in here.”
Preston walked to his room and was surprised to see all his things had been put away. It was a nice room; he let himself flop on the bed and loved how soft it felt. He could just fall asleep on this bed, not even his bed at home was this soft?
“Enjoying the bed?” Robert said as he entered the room. When Preston heard him, he got up and saw he was dressed in a waiter’s uniform. He was actually smiling now and looking like he was in a better mood.
“Yeah it’s so soft, thank you.”
“No problem, Vera told me to tell you dinner was ready.”
“Ok I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Ok” Robert walked out of the room but stopped when Preston said his name.
“Robert can I ask you something?” he turned around to face Preston.
“Yeah”
“Who was it that you had feelings for, the reason you and Ann Marie broke up? Did you ever tell them how you felt?” this was Robert’s chance to tell him how he felt. It was either a go big or go home moment.
“Do you really want to know?”
Preston thought about it, did he really want to know who Robert was head over heels in love with?   “Yes I really want to know.”
Robert walked over to the bed and sat next him; he was finally going to tell Preston that he is the one he loves.  “I never got the chance to tell them, when Ann Marie blew up it had changed their opinion of me. I didn’t think I had a chance anymore after that, but I think that might have changed.”
Preston was trying to think who it might be; he hoped it was not that bimbo Penny. Robert could do so much better than her.  “So who is it?” Preston was dying to know, because if he did go out with this person. It was likely they were not going to be hanging out as much. He just got him back in his life he didn’t want to lose him again.
“Are you sure you want to know?”
“Yes I’m sure, now come on spill it.”
Robert moved closer to Preston, he reached for Preston’s hand and placed it in his, and then he moved the hair out of his eyes. Robert looked into Preston’s blue eyes; they were color of the ocean.  He could spend so much time looking into his eyes, especially when he need to clear his mind. Robert gave Preston’s hand a quick squeeze before he said anything. Preston didn’t like the way Robert was acting; it could only mean that whoever it was, Preston wasn’t going to like them.
“The person that I’m in love with is you Preston and it has always been you. I was just too blind to see it sooner, since the day I meet you I felt a connection with you. A connection I thought was just a way a friend would feel for another friend. However, the more time I spent with you, the more I slowly realized that I wanted more then to be friends with you.” Robert waited for Preston to say something; he just had a look of shock on his face. Preston pulled his hands out of Robert’s and got up from the bed and walked to the door. He turned around to face Robert, who was still on the bed.
“You’re kidding right?” Preston didn’t think Robert was the type to joke around like that, but he had to be messing with him. There was no way Robert was gay.
“Preston”, Robert got up from the bed and walked over to him. “I would never joke around like that, what I feel for you is real and you have to believe me.”
Preston looked into Robert's eyes and he was serious about it.  “Robert you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into, this isn’t the life you want to have. It’s not an easy life; you don’t even know what your family will say about it.”
“The only person that matters to me right now is you.” Robert placed his arms around Preston’s waist and pulled him closer to him. He leaned in and kissed him like there was no tomorrow. Preston was ready to pull away, but as soon as he felt Robert’s lips touch his all the arguments he was ready to make seemed to disappear and he just melted into the kiss. When Robert finally broke the kiss he looked at Preston, he had never felt so alive. He was meant to spend the rest of his life with him.
Preston’s dream had finally come true, he was happy but he was also worried. He had just kissed his cousin’s ex-boyfriend; he was worried on what Ann Marie was going to say when she found out.  “Robert as much as I want this to happen between us we just can’t let it.”
“Why not, I love you and I know you love me.”
“There are so many reasons; for starters you went out with my cousin and I just broke up with my boyfriend.  Could you truly be with me out in public?”
“Yes” Robert didn’t have to think about it, it’s what he wanted and he didn’t care what anyone thought.
“Are you sure even if it meant your family not accepting it and turning their backs on you?”
“Yes I’m positive and if they do, I don’t need them. As long as I have you that’s all that matters to me, you can be my family.”
Preston didn’t want Robert to just give up his family for him, he knew how important his mom and sister were to him.
“I can’t let you do that, you will not be happy if your mom and sister don’t accept you. However, if this is what you really want then I’m all yours and you can tell your family whenever you want. I don’t want to rush you into something you’re not ready to handle, look at what happen to me.”
Robert grabbed him again and kissed him once more, he was happy Preston wanted to be with him.  “Don’t worry it won’t be long before I let my family know. You’re too important to me to hide.”
Vera came in Preston’s room to check up on them and to see what was taking so long for them to come and eat. When she walked into the room she saw Robert and Preston kissing, she let out a squeal of delight. Preston was the first to see her and pulled away from Robert. Robert turned around and saw Vera smiling at them.  “It’s about time you two finally got together.”
“Wait you knew that Robert was in love with me?”
“Um yeah, I did and I have been telling him to do something about it, but it was like talking to a wall.”
“Yes Vera would be on my case about it all the time, but I’m glad she was because then I wouldn’t be here with you right now.”
“Yes just think of me as the match maker here and when you’re telling your kids about how you two finally got together, be sure to say it was all because of Aunt Vera.”
“Ok whatever you say Vera.” Robert said.
“Well if you two are done here, I did make an awesome dinner that has been waiting to get eaten.” Preston and Robert laughed as they followed Vera out of the room. Vera looked back at them and saw how happy they were with each other. She hoped they would always have that happiness with each other.
