Aria froze when she heard the name.
“Leonard De Luca is here to see you,” the concierge’s voice said calmly over the intercom. “He insists it’s urgent.”
Dominic entered the room at that moment. He didn’t need to ask who it was—he saw it in her eyes.
“Let him up,” Dominic said darkly.
Aria flinched. “Dominic—”
“Let. Him. Up.”
Leonard De Luca stepped into the penthouse like he still owned her.
His tailored suit was perfect, his presence cold. The man who once arranged his daughter’s marriage stood before her like a god returning to correct his creation.
“You’ve done well,” he said, eyes sweeping the room. “The place suits you. Almost like you’ve made a home of your captivity.”
Aria’s jaw tightened. “You arranged this marriage. Don’t talk like I was stolen.”
Leonard didn’t even blink. “I arranged a union. Not a bond. You were meant to balance him, not become... this.”
Dominic moved beside Aria, his voice sharp. “You’re here for something. Say it.”
Leonard’s eyes didn’t leave Aria. “You were meant to be his leash. Now you’re his weakness.”
He pulled an envelope from his coat and placed it on the marble counter. “A way out. A private jet, a new identity, enough money to vanish. All you have to do is walk away.”
Aria stared at it. “You want me to leave the man you forced me to marry?”
Leonard’s voice dropped, venom-soft. “He was useful once. Now he’s dangerous. Your attachment has made him reckless. Unstable. You’ve failed your role.”
Dominic’s fists clenched.
Leonard turned to him, smile sharp. “You broke her. But not enough to keep her. That was your mistake.”
He looked back at Aria.
“You belong to the De Lucas. Not to the Morettis. And if you don’t come willingly... I’ll take you back by force or shame.”
After Leonard left, silence poured into the room like poison.
Aria sat down, the envelope untouched.
Dominic stood over her, voice low. “He thinks he still owns you.”
Aria stared at the door. “He does. In a way, he always has.”
Dominic stepped closer. “Do you think I do?”
She looked up at him, eyes unreadable.
“I don’t know what freedom looks like anymore, Dominic. All I know is neither of you let me choose.”
That night, she slept in the same bed.
But between them lay an envelope filled with betrayal, silence, and the echo of a last name she no longer trusted.
De Luca.
