-Nikolai.
"THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE BOLTON'S FAMILY MASSACRE"
"Mama?!" I went into my parents' home, looking for my mother, "Mama?!"
"Niko!" her voice filled my ears and my attention snapped in its direction of it.
She stepped out of the kitchen immediately, her face contorting with glee as she saw me, and a wide smile appeared. A maid helped her take the apron off and she came running toward me.
My mother, my beautiful mama.
She pulled me in a hug, wrapping her arms around me. I rested my chin above her head and smiled, hugging her back. "Oh, I was so scared. I prayed day and night for you to come home safely. I hate this, Niko, first your father and now you. Every time you and your father stay away from home for more than a week, I die a little from the inside, Durak!"
"I came to you the second the plane landed," I told her.
She pulled back and held my hand, taking me to a couch, "Okay, what did you bring for your mama from Sicily?"
She watched me with hopeful big blue eyes, I furrowed my eyebrows, playfully. "Was I supposed to bring you something?"
She visibly deflated. She loved it when Pops and I showered her with gifts, she was the only woman in our life and being the only princess of the Bratva, she was utterly spoiled by her older brother as well, "You didn't bring me a gift?"
I lifted a shoulder, lighting up a cigar. She hates smoking, "I must have forgotten."
She slapped the back of my head, pulling the cigar out of my mouth and throwing it on the floor. "Ublydok! Just like your father."
She stood up and started yelling in Russian, telling me that she won't ever talk to me if I ever smoked in front of her again. I know she hates smoking and it pisses her off more when I smoke. I held her hand, stopping her from going back into the kitchen.
"Let me go before the food gets burned. You know what? Let it burn, this is what you and your father deserves!"
I pulled out a diamond ring from my pocket and put it on her middle finger right next to her wedding ring. Her eyes shined and she smiled before slapping the back of my head once more, "Why do you like to make me so angry?"
I got up and pressed a kiss on the top of her head, "Because you look cutest when you're mad, mama"
Her eyes went behind me and the smile got replaced by a scowl, "Mudak!"
I was taken aback, "What did I do now?"
"Not you, your papa," she gestured behind me.
Father entered with Elijah Bolton, he handed him some files before his eyes landed on mama and he smiled after a fucking week, "Beautiful Anastasia," he grinned at her.
"I'm not talking to you, you lied to me!"
"Allow me to make it up to you," he stepped closer to her.
A hint of a smile ghosted over her lips, she was already melting but was trying hard to stay mad. She was too much of a sweetheart to stay mad at anyone. "Nothing can make it up to me..."
"I think your son has chosen a bride for himself," Pops told her.
A squeal filled the room, "Finally! I'm going to be a la nonna?"
I rolled my eyes heavenwards, "Calm down, mama, he's lying."
She glared at Pops, "It's not funny, Luciano!"
"Come on, boy, tell your mama about Grace. These two love birds couldn't keep their hands to themselves the whole weekend," he told her and she turned to me.
I met Grace Russell in Sicily, the English mafia princess, I liked her at first, she got a nice body but when she opens her mouth, you'd wish you could go back in time and erase her from her very existence. She'd fuck anything with a pulse and a dick. Definitely not fit to take place of my mama in the Cosa Nostra. We fucked a few times this weekend, she was okay with it, I was okay with it but when Pops got to know about me hanging out with a certain mafia princess; he planned the fucking wedding in his head. He fucking gave Paul Russell his word and that slimy old bastard jumped on it.
"Niko, you did not fornicate with her, did you? I want you to save yourself till marriage!" mama's face was all shades of horror as if I had slept with her I'll burn in hell for the rest of my life.
"No, mama, I haven't. I'm saving myself for marriage," I lied.
Pops snickered, making mamma squint her eyes at both of us. Pops probably heard Grace's annoying ass screams while I fucked her in the hotel room which was right next to him. Even if we get married, I refuse to fuck that girl ever again.
Mamma gasped, her eyes going somewhere else. "Oh, Elijah, I'm so sorry, I didn't notice you at all between the husband and the son. These two-" she gestured towards me and pops. "...are going to be the death of me one day."
"Don't say that!" I snapped and at the same time, Pops yelled at her, "DON'T TALK NONSENSE, ANASTASIA!"
Mama rolled her eyes as Elijah looked between the three of us with a fucking creepy-ass smile, "I have prepared dinner, join us," she said to him.
"Ah no, Mary and Ev-Mary must be waiting for me at home. I better go."
She nodded, smiling, "How's Mary? I haven't seen her in a long time."
Elijah grinned, "How about you join us for dinner tomorrow night? Mary would love to catch up with you as well."
Mamma nodded, "I'd love that, anything to get out of this house and away from these two," she slapped my chest. "Mary and I will make sure the dinner is fit for our beautiful Queen."
She placed a hand over her heart, "Oh, you flatter me, Elijah."
He slightly bowed his head as a sign of respect, "I'd take my leave now, Luciano, Don Niko, and my queen."
He turned and walked out of the house. Pops gave me a skeptical look, we knew Elijah was thinking about running from the Cosa Nostra. We knew about his little pathetic escape plan for quite some time now. Pops was keeping his estranged capo close, keeping an eye on him; he didn't want to kill him because of the brotherhood they once shared but I had other plans.
No one can run from Nikolai Costello.
"So, who is this Grace and when will I meet her?" Mama voiced.
"No one!" I snapped
"His future wife," Pops said at the same time.
"Pops..."
"I gave Paul Russell my word, Niko," Pops said on a serious note before he turned and walked to his study.
The lighthearted atmosphere turned tense. Pops and I were arguing about this pact with Russells throughout the whole flight.
Mama held my hand. "Come with me..."
I walked with her as she took me upstairs to my parent's bedroom. She went to the safe and pulled out a box, it looked like a jewelry box. I frowned.
"I intended to give this to the woman you will fall in love with-"
Agitation rolled off my shoulders, "I do not love Grace Russell, Mama."
"I know," she voiced, "I can see it in your eyes, but Luciano gave her father his word and we both know what it means..."
My father's word in the Cosa Nostra meant that it was the law.
"Your daughter then?" she said.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What?"
He handed me a diamond necklace, earrings, and a bracelet, "Give this to the girl you will fall in love with. It can also mean your daughter or your wife..."
I gave the jewelry box back to her, "You are the number one woman in my life, mama, no one can take your place. Keep this... because you are the only woman I love."
