                    TERZO
The coast of Fethiye was tranquil with vibrant blue ocean and pine-clad hills. I wanted to take my wife outside Istanbul before we headed home. So I chartered a yacht because I owed her a date that had been long overdue.
“Wow.” The first word she said since we arrived at the marina. “Do you always try to impress a girl on your date?”
“Just my wife,” I assisted her onboard. This time we had the 3-cabin yacht to ourselves.
Celestina was spending time with Uncle Gian Carlo and his wife. While Aleksandr and Dimitri were taking care of Milo.
“Enjoy, signora.” Gio waved at us as we were ready to leave.
“Call us when you arrive.” Marco gestured.
“Don’t get shot!” Dani yelled at him, making me chuckle.
As we left the dock, she came to me and hugged me from behind. She was wearing a two-piece inside her yellow summer beach dress.
“So, what else can you do aside from sailing, shooting, running a business, spying, and finding people? You can also cook. How did I become so lucky, Terzo?”
I looked over my shoulder. “I’m the luckiest man on earth, mia bella. You just don’t know that. To answer your question, I have PPL.”
“What’s that?”
“Private pilot license.”
She rolled her eyes. “Why am I not surprised?”
“Did you know I jumped with Papa into the ocean to fake our deaths?”
“Great.” She stared at me, amused and surprised. “Is it also a part of training to be a spy?”
“I don’t call myself a spy.” Once we were far enough from the Mediterranean coast, I put the engine on idle. I took her hand so we could watch the ocean. “I’m just good at blending in, and I know how organized crime works. The agency put my expertise to good use.”
It was so peaceful here. For a few months since we got married, I never really took her out somewhere where we could have time to ourselves and enjoy each other’s company.
I wrapped my arms around her as we looked at the endless horizon.
“Wow.” She took a deep breath. “It’s so beautiful here.”
“You don’t feel seasick? I don’t notice you going to the bathroom in the morning.”
She shook her head and leaned against my chest. “No. I’m fine.”
“I was wary of taking you on a boat ride because of your pregnancy. I’m glad we have this chance to ourselves, sweetheart. Hungry?”
“No. I don’t want to eat. I just want to be here, breathe in this salty breeze, and make myself tan.” She looked at me and smiled. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Dani. I should put sunscreen on your skin.”
“I already applied before we left. And before you ask, yes, it’s safe for pregnant women.”
I couldn’t help but smile.
“And I took my vitamins.”
“You’d be a great mom. Come with me.” I offered my hand so we could sit down and have some drinks.
“We’re not going in the cabin. No sex today. We’ll just relax, okay?”
I burst into laughter. “No sex here, I promise. But we will once we get home.” I helped to sit on the sundeck and offered her fruit juice while I took a beer.
“You drink beer?” She clunked her bottle with mine.
“I do.” Wrapping my arms around her, I pulled her close to me. “Before we met, I would never have imagined finding myself here after five months with a woman in my arms, let alone a wife, and we’re gonna be parents.”
“Me too. I was really furious when my— when Francesco wanted me to get married. I’m glad I ran away to Russia, and you found me in Türkiye.” She briefly glanced at my bullet wound. “Are you gonna tell our baby what happened to that?”
I laughed. “Probably. If he asks.”
“He?” Her brow arched.
“I want our firstborn to be a boy so that he can look after our girls.”
“I see.” She laughed at my words. “Girls.”
“Yes, I want four.”
“Four?” Her eyes widened.
“It’s fine, Dani. No pressure. Even if our firstborn is a girl. She’s mine, and I will love her with every fiber of my being. She hasn’t been born yet, I love her already.” I put my hand on her tummy. I could barely feel the small bump. “I will protect her with my life, and expect an army to ward off boys.”
She shook her head in amusement. “I can actually imagine you doing that, Terzo.”
“And she’s gonna be a papa’s girl.” My heart squeezed with a powerful emotion. I pulled her into my arms and squeezed her into a tight hug. “Ti amo tanto, mia bella.”
“I love you, too, Terzo. I’m glad you came for me.”
“I wasn’t gonna stay insane longer in Italy. I would find you even if Cee didn’t come to see me. I was losing my shit without you. I thought what the fuck was I even working hard for when you were not with me anymore.” I held her chin so she could look at me and see what she did to me, falling so madly in love with her. “Mia bella, you and our baby are my world. I don’t want to live without you. I can’t promise you anything, but I offer you my love and devotion as your husband. I will do anything to make you happy and make—”
She pressed her finger on my lips. “Just shut up and kiss me already, Don Terzo Manuele Siciliano.”
She didn’t have to say it, I was going to kiss her and make love with her if she changed her mind. I leaned in, captured her mouth with mine, and kissed her as though I were starving. I could taste the fruity drink she drank, but was overtaken by her sweet taste and scent.
I kissed her until she moaned, melting into me. I kissed her as I pulled her dress over her head, leaving only her two-piece suit, while I glided my hand in her top and cupped her breast. It was growing in size and warmed on my palm.
She groaned into my mouth, making me pull away.
“Did I hurt you?”
She opened her eyes and looked at me. They were heavy with desire. “No. I changed my mind. We should use the cabin.”
“Fuck yeah.” I grinned like an idiot.
