TERZO
I got worried when she refused to eat on the yacht. So we decided to get back to the land. I also received a message from Kelsey that she wanted to meet.
It was late for dinner, but I had already set a meeting when she mentioned Muğla.
“Are you okay dining with Kelsey?” I pulled a chair for Dani and helped her sit.
“Yes. I’m starving. I don’t care even if I sit next to the POTUS.”
“I’m sorry, sweetheart.” I kissed the top of her head before I sat down.
“Don’t apologize.” She reached out for my hand and smiled. Her cheeks burned. “We had lunch earlier, and it was amazing.”
“I bet. It was delicious and mind-blowing.” A smile broke off my face, reminding me of how we fucked, made love, and she went down on me even if I refused. When she told me she wanted to taste me, how could I deny my wife? I ignored my cock hardening in my pants.
The waiter approached and we ordered. I didn’t care if Kelsey arrived, and my wife was already eating. Her well-being and our unborn child are my top priority now.
I checked the time. Kelsey was five minutes late.
“Is everything okay?” She began eating her Pilav with vegetables.
“Yes. Eat, sweetheart. Don’t mind me.” Just as I finished my words, a familiar figure walked into the restaurant. The hair on the back of my neck rose. “What the fuck?”
“What’s wrong?” Dani put her spoon down and looked over her shoulder.
Ruslan walked in our direction, wearing a huge smile on his face. “Mio amico.”
Seconds later, Kelsey joined. We exchanged pleasantries. They congratulated us, but I kept my guard up because this meeting was strange. At the corner, Gio, Marco, and Aleksandr waited for my signal.
“What the fuck is going on?” I took a seat and pointed at them.
“Sorry. I’m starving,” Dani said.
“It’s okay, honey. Eat,” Ruslan said sweetly to her. “Ignore us.”
I shifted my gaze between Ruslan and my wife, who looked too comfortable sitting across each other. She had Ruslan’s man protecting her, but what I noticed was her complete trust in him.
“I promised to protect her. Don’t look at me like that.”
Dani looked at me. “I did not meet him, but I reached out because you trusted him. Do you remember what you said, he could help me with my protection?” She stole a glance at Kelsey. “Oops.”
“I know what I said, Dani.” I turned to Kelsey. “Are you two together?”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Kelsey looked offended. “This asshole? Even if he’s the last man on earth, I won’t climb on him.”
Dani studied the two and smiled. “I thought they were. I can feel the tension from a mile away.” She raised her finger when Kelsey glared at her. “I’ll shut up now.”
“I’m here to clean your name, asshole.” She briefly looked at Dani. “Sorry, my dear. Your husband is such a pain in the ass. So you’re welcome.”
“That I know.” Dani smiled.
“Yet I didn’t get the credit for taking down Yrosov. I didn’t help Olezka—”
“Shut up. You informed his men. Ruslan admitted that you provided his men with some vital info through your fixer, Katie. He already confessed, asshole.” I wasn’t even offended that Ruslan gave up my name. He wouldn’t sell me out without reason.
“Okay.” I raised my hand. I knew my reasoning was useless, and they already knew the truth. But I must still be valuable to them, and they wouldn’t touch me, or blood would be shed on both sides. “Let’s talk about clearing my name.”
“You and dick over here.” She tipped her head at Ruslan, sitting next to her. “Will work for us.”
“With us,” Ruslan corrected her.
“Fine. Whatever.” She rolled her eyes. “We will contact you for assistance.”
“You mean help you eliminate bad guys, clear your paths, transact business with some thugs with our names?”
“You know the drill. Shut up.” She called the waiter.
“Try Imam bayildi,” Ruslan told her as she looked at the menu.
“Where’s the list, Siciliano?”
I shifted my gaze to Ruslan. “Did you tell her about it too?”
He shook his head, and I believed him.
“I’m not gonna take it. I suggest you send it to all news outlets and newspapers.”
“No. We’ll use it as a blackmail list.” Dani’s eyes lit up. “The blacklist. I love that show. I wish Reddington didn’t die.”
Kelsey glared at me. “Is she for real?”
“Yes. That’s my stubborn, disobedient but beautiful, amazing, and thoughtful wife,” I said proudly. “My redemption.”
DANI
Nikolae Vasilyev’s funeral was attended by hundreds of families, friends, allies, and mourners.
Ilya may look intimidating and strong, but I could see through that tough exterior that he was struggling with the loss of his father. Those sterling eyes didn’t lie.
“I’m so sorry for your loss, Ilya.” I gripped his hand. “Your father has lived his life in dignity. He will surely be missed.”
“Thank you, Danielle.” There was so much sadness in his eyes, which reminded me of losing my parents, and that I never mourned the loss of Allison and Francesco.
“The whole Sicilianos is sending their condolences, Ilya.” Terzo hugged him, patting his back. “I’m so sorry, Pakhan.”
“Thank you for coming all the way from Italy. You and Danielle have made an ally for life.”
Before Terzo took my hand, he expressed his condolences to Ilya’s men.
We left the very same day for Italy. On the jet, I watched Terzo. There was a lot in his mind that I wished he shared with me. “Penny for the thoughts?”
He met my gaze. “Deaths in the family.”
I nodded. “I was thinking the same thing earlier. I mourned for my parents even if it was two decades ago, but not for Francesco and Allison. Did she really commit suicide?”
“That’s what the news said, mia bella.”
“Right.” I just smiled. Maybe she deserved it. “I miss Milo.”
“Of course, you do.” He took my hand and kissed it. “What do we name our firstborn?”
I never thought he would accept the news about my pregnancy with ease. I expected him to be mad, go out and get drunk, or maybe accuse me of trapping him.
Terzo never siezed to amaze me. He’d be a good father like Gaetano.
“I haven’t thought about it yet.” And I liked it when he called it firstborn. “Do you have a suggestion?”
“If he’s a boy, Leone.”
“It’s beautiful.”
