(Lily’s POV)
I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe.
The dagger at my throat pulsed with dark energy. I could feel it almost piercing my skin, stealing my breath.
My limbs refused to obey me. My strength lay dormant, caged by fear.
Then boom!
Wood splintered, and smoke curled through the air as my friends crashed into the scene like a storm.
Their eyes blazed with fury. Dev’s blade caught the light as he spun through the shattered doorway. Aria’s claws extended, soaked in blood. The ground shuddered beneath Tobe’s heavy steps, power radiating from him like waves.
For the briefest moment, Celeste’s father turned toward the commotion; it was just the flicker of distraction that Aunt Lamia needed.
Her hands flared with searing golden light. In a single, fluid motion, she broke free from the two warriors restraining her. A pulse of raw power expanded from her chest, warping the air with its heat.
She yanked the pendant from her neck; a dull stone now gleaming like a star, and clutched it tightly.
“Evreno solikim bindo sha dei dei dei mate rana tu be von ki,” she chanted in a guttural, ancient tongue.
The pendant cracked. Lightning burst from her fingertips, racing across the floor like veins of fire.
A surge of magic surrounded her, lifting her feet slightly off the ground as her robes twisted in a phantom wind. They shimmered midair, transforming into ethereal white silk threaded with gold—woven as if by unseen hands.
Her hair lifted, strands turning silver at the roots.
She wasn’t just Aunt Lamia anymore.
She was a High Enchantress—the kingdom’s greatest witch.
“Luminos zavie creami nunu o ni salidi madai ci klen dum… leminu crem susili madi bud xenos!” she cried again, her voice rising with terrifying grace.
The palace trembled beneath our feet, and the marble floor gave way in cracks. Screams rang out as Thamorum’s warriors stumbled and fell into their doom.
Celeste’s father roared, charging at Aunt Lamia with outstretched claws and shadow trailing his every step. But Aunt Lamia didn’t flinch. She smiled as if to say “bring it on.”
She lifted her hand, blue flames coiling around her fingers, and hurled the column of fire. It collided with his body, erupting into an explosion of smoke and energy that shook the hall.
But he was fine as if that didn't hit him. Lord Adonis seemed fortified against her magic.
Celeste and Kade immediately turned toward me, their eyes glazed with bloodlust.
“Kill her!” Lady Beauty shrieked with hatred.
They lunged, their wolves snapping to the surface, muscle and fur ripping through skin.
I stumbled back, heart pounding, vision blurring.
Suddenly a deafening roar split the air. It was Zion.
He sprinted across the hall, his bones shifting mid-run. His body elongated, and Ragnar emerged—massive, and furious. He collided with Kade’s beast mid-air, sending them both crashing into the floor. Tiles exploded beneath them.
Dev appeared beside me, his grip strong as he caught Celeste mid-pounce and hurled her across the room. She stood no chance as she slammed into a pillar.
She slumped with a groan. Dev didn’t hesitate but charged after her again.
Aria and Tobe joined to fight the hooded members of the inner Circle.… their blades flashing, claws slashing, bones cracking. The King and Queen fought too, their power slicing through the chaos. But through it all, my eyes never left Aunt Lamia.
She moved like a god— magic humming from her every breath.
She fought against Lord Adonis, Light verses darkness…fire meeting shadow in an endless duel. Until—
He vanished.
My stomach dropped.
Then he reappeared right behind her.
The Omnaki dagger gleamed in his hand as he drove it into her neck.
Time stood still.
“AUNT LAMIA!” I screamed, my knees giving out.
Her knees buckled, blood bloomed down her chest like flower. Her eyes found mine through the pain.
Tears streamed down my face, blurring everything. With her last strength, she slammed her palm to the floor.
“Melinus crekus lamino fromali… caminate ladum mav zusus centri demilu! tu wani kambl. Shamac talia van tua!” she whispered and the ground cracked again, creating a line splitting the hall in two.
A glowing chasm gaped between us. She stood across from me, bleeding and weak.
Light broke out from the sky. A portal unfurled behind me, swirling with ancient energy.
Strong wind lifted me and my friends from the ground…
“Noooo—” I choked.
Aunt Lamia raised her arms, whispering a final spell. Her voice floated toward my mind. It wrapped around my soul like a mother’s embrace.
“Lily, my dearest one… I’m wiping the memories of you and your friends from everyone in this realm. No one… no one will remember you. Not Zion. Not the King. You and your babies will be safe, and that is all that matters…”
I was the only one who heard her.
I tried to run out of the portal she had put us in… but Dev caught me while Aria screamed my name, and Tobe dragged me from the edge.
The whirlwind roared. The hooded figures around us froze. Their bodies went rigid, trapped between consciousness and sleep.
Lord Adonis.
Lady Beauty.
Celeste.
Principal Thamior and Kade.
The Royals… even Zion staggered, unable to resist the spell. The wind ripped the rest of the inner circle’s hoodies away, revealing familiar faces and I heard Dev gasp.
“Dad?” he called in horror.
Indeed amongst the subconscious men was an older replica of Dev. Dev’s father's was alive?
Then glowing white orbs; their fragments of memory rose from each of them, floating like lanterns into the sky.
Aunt Lamia waved at me with tears as her body turned to ash and disappeared into the wind.
“NOOOO!” I screamed, wrenching myself forward.
But my friends held me back as the portal surged with light, and swallowed us whole.
Then everything went dark.
