                    (Lily’s POV)
“The prince is coming to the human realm.” Dev repeated.
I froze, still holding the phone to my ear. My chest tightened. I stood up slowly. “Are you sure?”
“Yes. I’ll confirm why he's here, but be careful."
I nodded, even though he couldn’t see me. “Okay...”
I ended the call and just stood there.
Zion is really coming here?
I couldn’t focus on anything after that. My laptop screen blurred, the open documents and email tabs forgotten.
Eventually, I gave up trying. I climbed into bed but sleep refused to come. I tossed and turned, my mind full of questions. Why was he coming? Why now?
The next morning, tiny feet thudded into my room. Then came the soft thump of a toy hitting the ground and a chorus of giggles.
“Mama’s still sleeping!” one whispered, not quietly at all.
“Let’s wake her!” the other squealed. I tightened my eyes and waited.
Then—
“BOO!”
I opened my eyes to see their grinning faces just inches from mine.
My heart swelled.
My babies.
In that moment, all the stress from the night before melted like sugar in tea.
I sat up with a small smile. Lamia and Zeus were my light.
Their nanny had already dressed them for school. My little boy looked so serious in his tiny shirt, while his sister had her hair tied into two buns.
They sweetly led me to breakfast, giggling between bites of pancakes as they made up silly songs with their spoons.
When it was time, I walked them to the car, and after buckling them in, we were driven to school by Marcus. My protocols followed closely behind in their black SUVs.
I sang rhymes with my kids in the backseat. At the school gate, I stepped out to kiss their foreheads and wished them a beautiful day. I stayed until they disappeared into the school doors, their little backpacks bouncing with each step.
On the ride to the office, I leaned against the window. My fingers traced invisible patterns on the glass. Somehow, Zion still hovered in my mind. My wolf and demon stirred inside me but said nothing.
When I got to the office, my assistant, Alora was already waiting in front of my door with a cup of coffee and too much excitement in her eyes.
“Good morning!” she beamed, practically bouncing. “You’ll never guess what’s happening tonight.”
I raised a brow. “What?”
She handed me the coffee and followed me in. “Virelux is hosting a private party at the Dela Crème Hotel. All the big names are going. Fashion houses, industry heads and dignitaries.”
My heart skipped.
Virelux Conglomerate.
The elusive company that ran almost the entire global fashion web. They were private, selective, and absolutely untouchable. I had sent in proposals, emails, even tried networking through connections… but never got a reply.
Alora continued, “Apparently, they’re finally going public and introducing their CEO.”
That was it.
This was my chance.
I looked at her. “Get me two invitations.”
She nodded, eyes wide. “Two? Can I come with you?" she pouts, but I shook my head.
"Maybe, some other time. I need to go with a friend."
I was already dialing.
“Aria?” I said as soon as she picked up.
“Lily?” Her voice was cautious.
“I need you to come with me to a party tonight. It’s business.” I said almost immediately.
Aria hesitated. “Fine.”
That night, after making sure the kids were tucked in and kissed goodnight, I stood by the mirror adjusting my dress when Aria walked in.
My jaw dropped. “You are breathtaking.”
She laughed and twirled. Her dress shimmered in the light, sleek and sexy. “And you look like a dream,” she said, eyeing my black velvet gown with soft off-shoulder sleeves and silver embroidery.
My curls were held in a tight updo.
We arrived at the Dela Crème Hotel. The moment we stepped out, we were greeted with elegance; gold-trimmed halls, crystal chandeliers, soft jazz music, and the scent of luxury in the air.
Aria and I entered the grand ballroom, and the space was filled with familiar faces… designers I’d shared runways with, stylists who once critiqued my work, investors in tailored suits, and even celebrities I’d only admired through a screen.
“Lily!” a tall brunette in a sequined gown waved. “You look stunning, as always.”
“Thank you, Cara. I adore that dress,” I replied with a soft smile, touching her arm briefly before we moved on.
A greying man with rimless glasses leaned in. “Miss Pison, your last collection was divine. My wife hasn’t stopped talking about your it.”
I chuckled. “Tell her she has an excellent taste.”
We slipped through the buzzing crowd like dancers in step, trading smiles, nods, and quick words.
“Lily,” Aria whispered beside me. “This place is something else.”
I glanced around the grand room, feeling the weight of every gaze, every conversation. “Yes,” I said, voice low. “And I’m not leaving tonight without talking with the CEO."
After a while, I excused myself. “I need to use the restroom,” I whispered to Aria, and she nodded while accepting a drink from someone she knew.
I made my way down the corridor toward the restrooms. The hallway was quieter, dimmer, a little more personal.
As I entered the restroom, my phone buzzed again. I ignored it until I was done.
It was still ringing. My brows creased.
Dev.
Five missed calls.
I quickly dialed back. He answered instantly. “Where are you?”
“At the Virelux party,” I said slowly, feeling a shiver crawl up my arms.
“Get out of there now!"
“What?”
“Zion is there!”
The phone almost slipped from my hand.
My breath hitched, and my heart raced. “What do you mean?”
“Lucien picked him from the airport this morning, and my intel tells me that they're both in the party.”
The call ended, and I took to my heels... Zion can't see me or know about his children. It'll spell doom.
I wasn't looking when I bumped into someone. Hard.
Strong arms caught me before I could fall. My body stiffened, and I looked up to see those familiar blue eyes...
My breath caught.
Ravena and Vaelith surged to the surface "Mate!"
