Etho was good at fighting. Well, he was before his two and a half year break. So, currently, the situation he was in was not the best.
He is currently fighting a very powerful gang. All he wanted to was to get to his apartment quicker. I guess that wasn't happening.
One guy hits Etho's leg with a crowbar. Etho stumbles, and a guy from behind him punches him in the back, causing him to go forward right into an impact of the crowbar hitting his head.
He falls down on his hands and knees groaning in pain as another thug walks up. He kicks Etho in the stomach, forcing him onto his side. The guy grabs Etho by his hair to keep him on his stomach and starts to beat him.
"Look at old strong Etho, guess you're washed up now," one says as he starts slamming the crowbar against Etho's legs. He hears a crack. "See, it hurts, doesn't it?" Another asks."Yeah, it does, Etho." Another guy agrees with the first one, Etho can barely hear them over his own screams of pain. "Let me finish you off." This guy finishes the sentence. Etho tries to move, but the guy holding his hair pulls it harder. All of them hear a shout. "No!!"
Etho looks up the best he could to see Scott....why was he...here...
Everything goes black.
"You let go of him!!" Scott yells, leaning on his cane.
The men laugh.
"What's a guy that can barely walk do to us?" One guy laughs as he walks to Scott.
Scott lowers his head as the guy gets closer. When he is close enough, Scott kicks him in the stomach and hits him over the head with his cane.
The man falls to the ground, and Scott steps on his neck, crushing it. Scott runs at one of the other guys, jumps on him, and sticks the cane into his chest at full force.
He then proceeds to hit him across the face repeatedly with it. The man stops moving. Scott turns to see the last one standing. He has a knife in his hand. "Don't touch him!" Scott yells as he jumps at the guy.
The guy dodges and laughs when he doesn't see Scott. But soon, he feels something against his neck.
Scott has his cane right against his neck, choking him. Scott pulls roughly against the mans neck, breaking it and choking him. The man dies on the floor, clutching his throat.
As he falls, Scott lets him die without feeling bad or guilty. This man has hurt Scott so many times already, and Scott just saved Etho.
He walks over to Etho, who is lying unconscious on the ground. He bends down next to him. "Etho...are you alright?!" He gently puts his hand on Etho's shoulder. "Etho, wake up." he shakes his shoulder lightly, trying to wake him up, but Etho wouldn't budge. He was clearly still in a lot of pain. Scott sighed and called the only person whom he could think of. Cleo.
"What happened to him?" Cleo asked Scott as she finished bandaging up Etho's arms.
"He got attacked by that gang he arrested 6 years ago, the ones that broke free." Scott explains.
Cleo nods. "Well, I'll take care of him. What happened to your foot, Scott?" She asks.
"I got my foot stuck on the crowbar when I went to help Etho," Scott replies.
"I didn't think Etho and you were friends," Cleo remarks. "Last time I checked. Etho is a cop. You are a hitman." Cleo grins.
Scott huffs annoyed. "He saved my life... more than once." Scott whispers. Cleo raises her eyebrow. "I had to repay him somehow." Scott continued.
"I understand. Now go sit and rest your foot. Doctor Cleo will help Etho." Cleo grins. Scott looks like he wants to argue with her, but he knows Cleo will force him anyway.
"Thanks, Cleo. I owe you big time." Scott says. He looks down sadly.
"Nah, don't sweat it, I like to help people." Cleo smiles reassuringly.
Etho wakes up to an unfamiliar room. He looks around and sees Scott asleep in a chair in the corner of the room. He also hears the door open, he looks and sees...Cleo.
"Oh good. You're awake." Cleo says and sets down a coffee. "Don't try and sit up yet. Your back was pretty badly injured." Cleo advises.
Etho nods.
"Cleo..." Etho mutters.
"Hmm... yeah?" Cleo replies, sitting down in front of Etho.
"Why can't....I feel my legs...?" Etho whispers.
Cleo frowns.
"Your legs...were injured badly...you won't be able to walk again for...at least 6 years." Cleo says sadly. "Sorry to inform you this Etho." She adds sadly.
Etho blinks, confused. "So what... now I'm going to be stuck in a wheelchair? And if I can't walk, how am I supposed to work?" He asks quietly. Cleo sighs deeply.
"There is a lot... you can still do as a cop Etho. Maybe machine analysis? You were always interested in the machines at the station." Cleo sighs. "Or you could always use some kind of..puter? I'm sure there would be something that works for you..." she trails off. "I'll find something for you." Cleo mumbles, looking down.
"Besides that... Scott saved you. You should thank him when he wakes up. That coffee is for you." Cleo whispers and leaves the room.
After a few minutes of silence, Etho hears Scott mumble.
Scott opens his eyes and sees Etho looking at him.
"Etho!! You're awake!"
Scott exclaims happily, sitting up. Etho looks at him confused. "What...what are you doing here?" He asks, confused. "And why did you save me?" Etho questions. Scott looks embarrassed.
"I had to repay you somehow.." Scott mutters.
"I am here to take care of you." Scott says. Etho frowns.
"Why? Do you need money? I have plenty." Etho says.
Scott shakes his head. "I genuinely want..to take care of you." Scott admits.
Etho sighs and opens his arms.
Scott hugs Etho tightly. Etho squeezes tighter, his arms wrapped around Scott. He buries his nose in the crook of Scott's neck. Etho closes his eyes contently.
Scott smiles softly and rubs Etho's back.
They stay in their hug until Etho breaks it, and he smiles. "Thank you."
Scott grins widely. "You don't have to thank me. It was the least I could do. I just hope you're feeling better, Etho. "
Etho nods.
It's been 2 years, and Etho and Scott live together.
Etho is currently worried, wheeling around the house back and forth on his wheelchair. He hasn't seen Scott all day.
When he hears the door open, he looks and sees Scott with cuts and bruises all over him.
"Scott!" Etho says as he quickly moves himself over to Scott.
Scott grips the table and sighs with shaky breath.
"Come sit down." Etho says and leads Scott to the couch. Scott sits, and Etho wheels himself to the bathroom to grab the first-aid kit. He koves back over to the couch and grabs Scott's arm gently. He starts cleaning the cuts.
Scott winces when Etho touches him and hisses in pain.
"Shhh, it's ok, Scott." Etho hushes. "I've got this. You just tell me everything that happened," Etho smiles. Scott nods and talks about how he was hired to kill someone, but he was much stronger than Scott. Etho listens carefully while cleaning his wounds.
"That guy... was strong..." Scott whispers as he leans against Etho. Etho hums and continues tending to the wounds.
Scott slowly drifts off to sleep. When he opens his eyes again, Etho is gone. He is all bandaged up, so he sits up and looks around. He spots Etho asleep in his wheelchair.
Scott slowly stands and slowly limps over to Etho. He kneels down beside him, not wanting to wake him up.
Scott carefully picks Etho up and lays him in his bed.
Scott glances around before getting in bed with Etho and hugging him. He falls asleep.
The next day, Etho wakes up and chuckles when he sees Scott asleep next to him. He rolls to his side and gets closer to him. Suddenly, Scott wakes up.
"Morning. Did you sleep well?" Etho asks as he strokes his hair.
"Yeah, thanks for taking care of me yesterday." Scott smiles softly.
"I'm glad you're back safe." Etho tells him. "How does your back feel? Does it still hurt?" He asks, concerned.
"Yeah, it really hurts." Scott answers sadly. "But it'll get better, trust me."
"Ok.." Etho responds quietly.
Scott hugs Etho. Etho hesitates at first but then hugs him back, closing his eyes.
They stay like this for a couple of minutes until Etho pushes away from the hug. "Do you want to watch a movie?" He asks.
"Sure." Scott smiles brightly.
Etho grabs the remote and puts on comedy movies. They fall into a deep, peaceful silence. Occasionally, they would chuckle or laugh at things.
Scott's phone rings.
Scott grabs his phone. It's an unknown number. He answers anyway.
"Hello?" Scott asks.
A deep, unknown voice starts talking.
"I have a job for you. I'll pay. very well." The voice says in a menacing tone.
"Who the hell is this?" Scott asks, confused.
The voice laughs sinisterly. "That doesn't matter, young assassin. I have a job for you to eliminate someone."
"Who?" Scott asks.
"His name is Etho Slab. You kill him, and I'll give you a fortune." the man laughs.
Scott almost hangs up immediately. The man stops him with these words.
"If you don't. I'll kill him myself." The man then hangs up.
Scott looks over at Etho.
"Who was that?" Etho ask concerned.
Scott frowns.
"It was nothing, Etho." Scott lies. He doesn't know who the man is or where he is. All he knows is that this person is extremely dangerous.
A few days go by, and Scott ignores every call he gets from that number. He takes care of Etho and doesn't leave his side.
Even though Etho doesn't know it, he is being protected.
Scott is currently making food when he hears shouting. Scott rushes to the living room and sees someone holding a gun at Etho.
Etho was pushed off his wheelchair and was stuck on the ground.
The man aims the gun at Etho.
"Get back." The man orders, pointing the gun at Etho.
"NO!" Scott yells loudly and runs in front of Etho. He gets shot in the stomach.
Etho gasps. "Scott!"
Scott holds his stomach and glares at the guy.
The guy grins and aims again.
"Two for One special. Look at how c-" The guy gets cut off by Scott. Scott tackles the guy and starts punching him.
"LEAVE ETHO ALONE! GET AWAY FROM HIM YOU MONSTER!!" Scott growls angrily as he grabs the guys gun and shoots him. He then drops the weapon and looks at Etho, who is now hugging his knees.
Etho sniffles and sobs quietly. "You're alright Etho...you're okay." Scott whispers softly as he picks Etho up bridal style and places him on the couch. "You must hate me right now, Etho..." Scott murmurs sadly, rubbing Ethos back comfortingly.
Etho shakes his head slightly.
"Y-You saved...me again." Etho whispers.
"Of course I did. You're my best friend." Scott smiles then coughs when he feels light-headed.
Etho grabs his phone and calls Cleo.
"Cleo! Scott's been shot!"
When Scott opens his eyes, he sees Cleo's guest room, he looks around, and sees Cleo and Etho.
Etho wheels his wheelchair over to Scott and rests a hand on his shoulder.
"Morning Scott.." Etho murmurs.
Scott smiles softly. "Hi Etho." Scott replies. Etho gives him a concerned glance.
Etho looks at Cleo. Cleo smiles weakly at him and nods, telling him to take his time.
Scott notices Etho looking at Cleo and smirks. Etho raises a brow questioningly, but Scott just shrugs innocently.
Etho turns his attention back to Scott. "How are you feeling? Any pain?"
"I'm fine, Etho, really, it was just one bullet wound." Scott assures him.
Etho nods and smiles softly. "Good. I mean, you could have died because of me." Etho mumbles quietly.
Scott stares at Etho sadly. He grabs Etho hands. "Don't think like that Etho, stop thinking like that."
Etho frowns as tears run down his cheeks.
Scott lifts Ethos' chin with his fingers. "We can talk about it later if it makes you feel any better." Scott says.
Etho swallows hard and wipes his tears.
"Sure." Etho whispers. "What do you wanna do today?" He asks, trying to distract himself. "Anything you want to do is fine, Etho." Scott says.
"We can watch movies, I guess.." Etho whispers.
Scott frowns. "Etho. I promise I will be ok." Scott says in a quiet, soothing voice.
"Are you sure, Scott?" Etho asks quietly.
Scott nods and smiles reassuringly. Etho gives him a small smile in return.
"Let's watch some movies now." Scott grins.
"Let me go get the movies." Cleo sighs and laughs when she walks out.
Etho and Scott join in laughing.
Etho, Scott, and Cleo spend the rest of the day watching movies, and in the end, Scott and Etho stay roommates and eventually become partners at the police station.
