The airport is filled with noise, yelling, talking, flight announcements, etc.
Etho isn't the biggest fan of airports, but here he is, standing waiting for his flight. It's very important to him that he takes this flight, he is going to see someone very important to him.
Ren. Etho and Ren have been friends for years, but they live very far from each other, and it pains Etho. Ren has never seen Etho's face since they are online friends, and Etho is pretty secret about his identity.
Etho taps his foot patiently, waiting for his plane.
Soon, his flight gets called, and he quickly goes to the gate to get on the plane. The flight will take probably more than 7 hours, and Etho is not prepared for crying children or angry Karen's, but here he goes.
When Etho gets out of the airport, he looks around and smiles. Although his mask his shielding his mouth, you can tell he's smiling. He grabs his phone and scrolls through the messages between him and Ren, smiling more as he reads through them. He hums in acknowledgment as he finds what he's looking for.
Etho walks through the town and looks around more.
The town is filled with adults walking with their families, kids playing, elderly sitting on benches. It smells like freshly baked bread, which makes sense since there is a bakery in this part of town. Etho looks around for a good few minutes until he spots the Music Festival that was being held today. He grins and looks at his messages, Ren was texting him on the flight on how he was so excited to be playing at the music festival and would make sure to get a video for Etho. Etho doesn't need one now. Etho walks to the festival and pays the enterance fee. He looks around and spots Ren. Ren is on the stage, strumming his guitar and singing his heart out. Etho smiles and watches from a distance. When the song comes to an end, Etho steps closer and claps loudly for Ren, who waves at the ground and walks off the side. He walks straight past Etho and Etho snickers. Of course, Ren would think Etho was just a random person. Etho turns and follows Ren. He makes it look casual. Ren is standing by a food stall, counting his money.
"Shoot." Ren mutters. "Could you remove the chips?"
The person at the stand about to speak gets cut off.
"Don't worry, I got you." Etho says and gives money to the person at the stand for Ren.
Ren's eyes widen. He looks to his left and sees the person standing next to him. He knows...that voice.
Etho looks at Ren and smiles, his eyes light up slightly.
"Etho..?" Ren whispers, confused.
"That's me." Etho laughs.
Ren's eyes light up with happiness. "ETHO!!!" Ren grins and hugs Etho tightly, wrapping his arms around Etho's neck.
Etho smiles and wraps his arms around Ren's waist. They pull away slowly, Ren cups Etho's face and smiles again, looking at him fondly.
Ren says, "You..look exactly how I expected..but I didn't expect this.." And rubs his thumb softly against Etho's cheek.
They stare deeply into each others eyes. Their noses touching, and their faces inches apart. There's nothing awkward about it. They're just comfortable together, enjoying each other's presence.
"Did you come here, just to see me?" Ren whispers.
"Of course. I thought it was about time you got to see my face." Etho chuckles.
"Oh?" Ren asks, raising an eyebrow.
Etho pulls down his mask slightly. "Look closely." he smiles playfully. He puts his fingers under Ren's chin, gently tilting his head upward. "Look at this." He continues.
Ren's eyes widened. His breath hitched.
Etho has many freckles scattered across his cheeks.
Ren is blushing. He doesn't know why..or does he. "You. You uh have freckles." Ren smiles. "Wasn't expecting that." Ren whispers and looks at Etho. Etho has soft white hair, heterocromia eyes one is redish brown and the other is greyish blue. Etho has soft freckles scattered across his pale skin. He has multiple piercings in his ears, a headband holding his hair out of his face. Ren's breathes shakily.
Etho raises an eyebrow. "Do I have something on my face?" Etho chuckles, and Ren flushes. "I just wasn't..expecting this."
"Expecting what?"
"You being here." Ren looks at Etho. He looks like he's tearing up.
"Ren. Gosh, don't cry yet." Etho smiles and wipes the tears from Ren's face with his thumb. "Are you..okay?"
Ren nods and sniffles. "Yeah. Just...happy to see you."
Etho smiles.
Ren leans forward and leans his body weight on Etho, Etho smiles and wraps his arms around Ren tighter.
The person tending the stand clears their throat. "Your food is ready."
Ren blushes and grabs the food. "Sorry-" Ren grabs Etho's hand and pulls him towards the seating. Ren sits at a table, and Etho sits next to him. "Thank you for paying for my food." Ren smiles."
"It's no problem, Ren." Etho hums and watches Ren eat. It's nice seeing Ren smile, Etho feels happy to be the cause of that. Ren always had such a beautiful smile. Etho wants to see more of it. Ren is eating quietly, chewing carefully. After a while, he stops and looks at Etho. "So." He says. "Want to try some?" Ren stabs a piece of chicken with his fork and holds it up to Etho's mouth. Etho opens his lips obediently, and Ren feeds Etho some chicken. Ren feeds him again, this time giving him a french fry.
This is how they spend the next 20 minutes, Ren feeding Etho small bites of his food.
They're both laughing and smiling at each other, and it makes Etho's heart flutter. He loves spending time with Ren.
Soon, Ren eats the last piece of his food and Etho fake pouts.
"That was minneeeee." Etho grins.
"You've had enough!" Ren laughs and shoves his shoulder into Etho, playfully.
Etho laughs. "Hey-!"
Ren laughs. "Let's go to my house!! I can show you- EVERYTHING!" Ren grins, excited as he stands up, pulling Etho with him.
Etho laughs and lets Ren drag him.
When they get there, Ren gives him a tour of his house.
Currently, they are sitting on Ren's couch, its 7 pm currently.
"Etho, we should go to a bar!" Ren grins.
"A bar?" Etho raises an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because! We need to celebrate your arrival!" Ren grins and stands up. "Let's go!" Ren grins, dragging Etho out of his house.
Etho sighs with a smile.
When they get to the bar, Etho is hit with the immediate smell of alcohol.
Ren grins and goes straight to the counter to order a drink, Etho follows to make sure Ren doesn't get too many.
Ren grins and grabs his drink. He starts drinking it quickly.
Etho grabs Ren's hand. "Slow down, you'll regret it in the morning."
Ren pouts and Etho chuckles.
"Fine Fine." Ren smiles and takes a slow sip.
They stay there for a few hours, Ren has a few drinks and is dancing on the dance floor when someone walks over to him.
"Hey there, cutie." the random person says to Ren.
"Hello." Ren says then goes back to dancing. He's not drunk just a bit tipsy.
"What if I took you back to mine?" The random person grins.
"No, thank you," Ren says, once again going back to dancing.
"Aw come o-" The person reaches out to grab Ren, but he gets slapped away.
Ren's eyes widen as he sees Etho slap the guy.
Etho's arm protectively wraps around Ren's waist.
"Hands off, man." Etho scoffs.
"Tch. What are you? His boyfriend?" The guy asks aggressively.
"What if I am?" Etho raises an eyebrow.
"Oh, I know you aren't. You wouldn't have let that pretty thing on the dance floor by himself." The guy grins.
"Well, I am. So leave us be." Etho squints and pulls Ren closer. Ren blushes and leans into Etho.
"Prove it then!" The guy steps closer.
Etho steps back with Ren. Etho looks at Ren, leans down, and kisses his cheek.
Ren blushes and wraps his arms around Etho.
"Is that enough proof, idiot?" Etho glares at the guy.
"Any friend can do that, Hah! If you were really dating, you'd kiss him l-" The guy stops taking when he sees Ren kiss Etho.
Etho's eyes widen as he feels Ren kiss him.
The guy scoffs and leaves.
Ren pulls away, staring at Etho, directly in the eyes.
Etho's eyes are still wide, his face is flushed red, and he is a stuttering mess.
Ren smiles smugly. "Want to dance wit-"
"We should go-" Etho turns his head away from Ren.
Ren's eyes widen. "Oh. Uh..yeah. You..have to drive, though."
"Yup." Etho says and heads to the door, Ren follows quietly.
They get to Ren's car, Ren hands Etho the keys and goes to the passenger seat.
Etho gets into the drivers side and starts the car. He buckles himself and makes sure Ren is buckled.
Soon, they are on the highway, the quietness is not pleasant, and it is very awkward.
Etho reaches his hand over to turn on the radio. At the same time, Ren does too.
Their hands brush against each others and Etho's face goes red. He pulls his hand back quickly and focuses back on the road.
Ren's hand lingers there, Ren presses the button for the radio and withdraws his hand slowly. He has his hands on his lap, fingers digging into the fabric of his pants.
Of course. A love song starts playing, "Listen to your Heart." The DHT cover starts playing. Etho grips the wheel tightly, and his cheeks go even pinker.
The music plays loudly, but to Ren, it's muffled, his mind clouded.
After what seems like hours, which is really 10 minutes, they get back to Ren's house.
Etho parks the car and grabs the keys. He gets out of the car.
Ren gets out of the car and takes the keys from Etho. He unlocks the door, and they both walk in.
Etho scratches the back of his neck, "I'm gonna call it a night." Etho walks to the guest room.
Ren locks the door and places his keys on the table. He grabs a glass of water and drinks it. His mind is still foggy. It won't seem to go away.
Ren goes to the bathroom and washes his face, hoping for his mind to clear the negative thoughts filling his mind. It doesn't work. He looks in the mirror. He looks horrible. He didn't even know he was crying until he saw the tears streaming down his cheeks. He wipes the tears away, but that makes it worse. He looks down and grips the sink. He starts sobbing, tears streaming down his face. The negative thoughts get more persistent as he sits down, leaning on the wall and hugging his knees. He burries his head in his arms.
He ends up crying for around an hour. He doesn't know why he's crying. Oh, the reason is maybe he was so stupid that he probably ruined his relationship with Etho. Ren slowly gets up and walks into his room. He changes into his pajamas and flops into bed. He hopes he will just sleep these feelings off.
Soon enough, Ren falls asleep, tears streaming down his face.
The morning is slow.
Ren wakes up and feels like he hasn't slept in 10 years. He goes to the bathroom and stares at the shower for a few minutes, then finally takes a shower.
He then gets dressed and brushes his teeth, washing his face after.
Ren heads to the kitchen, and he slowly makes breakfast for both him and Etho.
After a while, he hears a door open. He looks over and sees Etho.
Etho's hair is messy, and he's only wearing shorts and a large T-shirt.
Ren's heart can't help but flutter as he looks at Etho.
"Morning." Etho says quietly as he heads into the bathroom.
"Mornin'" Ren whispers back and goes back to cooking.
When Etho comes out of the bathroom, he sees Ren making breakfast. He sits down and watches Ren cook.
When the food is done, he sets it onto two plates and carries it to the table. He places down the plates and sits.
He looks up and sees Etho's eyes light up.
"Strawberry crêpes!" Etho grins happily. "These are my favorite! My mom used to make these for me when I was little!" Etho gushes happily.
Ren's cheeks heat up slightly. "Really? I hope mine tastes as good then!" Ren chuckles.
Etho eagerly grabs his fork and knife, cutting the crêpe and eating some.
Etho smiles as he eats the food. "Mmmmh, that's good."
Ren smiles happily. "That's my own recipe. I love making my own food with new twists!" Ren gushes.
Etho smiles more and starts gushing on about how he used to make food with his mom all the time.
They both talk for around 10 minutes about cooking and different foods before Etho's phone rings.
Etho grabs his phone and silences it. He places it down and lets Ren continue his sentence.
Ren smiles. "I love making non-traditional food because it always tastes so good when you add your style to it!"
Etho hums softly, "I agree."
Ren smiles and keeps talking.
Ren gets cut off by Etho's phone ringing again.
Etho sighs and picks his phone up, answering it.
As Etho has his phone call, Ren watches Etho. Ren smiles as he realises he didn't ruin their friendship, but is now thinking about why Etho freaked out so much and didn't talk to him. He goes very quiet. When Etho hangs up, he notices Ren staring off into space, being very quiet.
Etho is worried, Ren is normally at least humming something.
Etho grabs Ren's hand. "Ren? Are you ok? You're so quiet." Etho whispers softly.
Ren looks up at Etho, and he starts blushing madly. His face is red.
This causes more worry in Etho.
"Ren? Do you have a fever.?" Etho slowly puts his other hand on Ren's forehead. Ren practically melts, his face burning, and his cheeks flushed.
Etho slides both hands to gently caress Ren's face, leaning closer to get a better look at Ren.
Ren leans into one of Etho's hands, sighing happily but avoiding eye contact. Etho blushes when he realises how close they just became. Ren slowly locks eyes with Etho. Etho slowly backs away, hands still caressing Ren's face.
Ren blushes.
"Etho..? Do you hate me..?" Ren whispers.
Etho's eyes widen. "No?! Why would you think that?" Etho asks, confused.
"Because...after..the incident at tha bar...you seemed so distant..like I messed up..badly." Ren whispers and looks down.
Etho slowly tilts Ren's head up again.
"Ren. I.." Etho blushes. "I want you..to know I didn't...hate the kiss..I really liked it, actually." Etho's cheeks burn.
Ren's eyes widen. "You..did?"
Etho nods.
"T-Then..why did you freak out?" Ren whispers.
"Well...I..am.." Etho takes a deep breath. "I am scared...of love....in a way."
Ren tilts his head, signaling for Etho to continue.
"I've had...so many relationships end...to badly...and I...didn't want anything to change between us...because of a kiss. But..I guess it changed anyway." Etho mutters.
"Etho.." Ren stands up slowly. He walks around to the other side of the table and sits next to Etho.
Etho blushes and looks at Ren.
Ren softly caresses Etho's head with his hand gently running his fingers through his hair.
Etho leans into Ren's hand.
"But...for you...I guess I should have known...you wouldn't leave me." Etho leans down slowly.
Ren nods. "I'll never leave you." Ren kisses Etho gently.
Etho closes his eyes tightly, trying to stop tears from falling, but he can't. Etho cups Ren's cheek and kisses back just as gentle, tears streaming down his cheeks. They break apart, both breathing heavily.
Ren holds Etho's cheek, looking at him with so much affection and love.
"Please don't be scared anymore, Etho.." Ren whispers, Etho can feel himself leaning into Ren.
Etho slowly pulls Ren towards him, their lips meeting once more. They pull away and smile.
They lean their foreheads together and laugh softly.
They stay like this for a while, just smiling and looking into each others eyes. Both of them lost in thoughts about each other.
Their hearts both thump rapidly. Ren wipes Etho's tears.
"You..are so perfect, Ren." Etho whispers.
Ren blushes, and he hides his face in Etho's chest. Etho laughs softly and plays with Ren's hair.
Later that night, Etho is sitting on the couch as Ren grabs the popcorn from the mircowave. He sits next to Etho and grabs the remote, placing the popcorn bowl on the coffee table.
Etho smiles and pulls Ren to his side.
Ren leans into Etho and puts on a movie.
Etho leans his head on Ren's.
Ren snuggles close and grabs some popcorn. He eats some.
As the movie goes on, Ren can't help looking at Etho. Everytime he looks at him he finds himself unable to focus on the movie, instead his gaze focuses on Etho's features, the blush in his cheeks, his smile, his bright, expressive eyes...they're so beautiful. Etho glances at Ren? this causes Ren to whip his head around back to focus on the movie.
As the movie progresses, Ren realizes that Etho's hand is wrapped lightly around his waist now, which leads to him having butterflies all over his body.
Ren glances over and catches Etho, staring at him and smiles. Ren looks away to focus on the screen and tries to watch the movie but ends up glancing over every now and then to see Etho watching him carefully, like he's waiting to see what Ren will do next.
Eventually, Ren turns to face Etho. They stare at each other for a few minutes and Etho ends up leaning in closer. Ren closes the gap between them. Their lips meet. The kiss is soft but passionate. It's a sweet kiss, filled with love and warmth.
When Ren broke the kiss, Etho stares at Ren.
"Ren...I love you"
Ren's eyes widen, and his face goes red. "Etho.." Ren whispers. "I love you too." Ren hugs Etho tightly.
The two end up falling asleep as they cuddle each other.
