                    THE Patriarch.
Adrian.
Twenty four hours, twenty four hours after everything had happened, demons had attacked the wedding held by the vampires, they made it seem like the wolves had attacked but Adrian had felt them, they had made their first move on the vampires but why they had, he didn't know, Johnny had stayed home with the kids, he and Jax were the ones who had gone to school, he only stayed for classes and once done he went to work, and now he was on the porch to his house.
He sighed happily in relief knowing the day had gone pretty okay, Cooper, Zoey or Conrad didn't show up at school which was okay in his book, he wanted the distance anyway, it was for the best, Adrian was still a little worried about their safety even though the demons had attacked the vampires specifically, he felt inclined to believe that the demons had something they wanted in the Leyton mansion, otherwise why attack when it was crowded, it made the perfect cover for them, the family of vampires would be too distracted with the onslaught to notice anything amiss in their huge home, it irked Adrian as to why Leyton the vampire's head wasn't there to defend his home, where had he gone to.
There weren't answers he could get anyway so he decided to push the thoughts aside, once he got into the house, he realized there was a lot of bags full of groceries on the island, he wondered who had done the shopping for him, he got his answer when he saw Jax's car in the garage, it obviously had been him. "I'm home!" Adrian called out taking a banana from the fridge, he didn't get a reply, but several grunts from somewhere in the back yard. He moved to see what the commotion was all about and found Johnny and Jax hurling fists at each other.
It was so brutal that Adrian flinched but it was also entertaining because they both looked like super ninjas fighting, a red glowing sphere was shot from Johnny's mouth in his human form, Jax's fourth tail glowed a dark purple fog rolled out all around him, the sphere attack from Johnny was absorbed by the fog, Johnny growled and instantly shifted, two spears made of his will appeared in his wolf paws and he attacked Jax, the kitsune completely shifted as well, he used his tails to block the spears, sideswiped the wolf just as his first tail turned an electric blue, lightning was shot from his palms toward the wolf who was tossed toward a glowing barrier in an explosion.
Adrian had no words to say, this kind of training was intense, when he turned to leave he saw one of his grimoires on the table outside, he walked toward it and found three little boys crouched behind one of his herbs muttering a spell that shocked him. "Ignugus." The three of them both mumbled and the herb burst into flames. "glasvix audis." Adrian mumbled and flames went out. "That is enough, all of you come here this instant!"Adrian yelled as the three boys and two teens all froze and looked toward Adrian, his hair blew in the wind with its orange glow making it seem as if it was on fire.
Jax and Johnny shifted and wore shorts, three little heads also climbed up the stairs and stood at attention in front of Adrian. "My love explain to me what's going on?" Jax was dumbfounded, Adrian's voice was sickeningly sweet and that's what terrified him. "Uh, you see baby, we're sparring, I came back and found Johnny sparring with himself, I decided he had the right idea we needed to train, I had the triplets help us make the invisible arena, I told them they couldn't practice without you or I there but it seems they didn't listen." Jax explained hoping Adrian wouldn't be furious.
The witch sighed and looked at his mate, he couldn't be mad at him for something he was going to do the moment he'd gotten home, they needed to train to get better, what surprised him was the triplets. "You guys have magic." Adrian exclaimed earning a relieved sigh from Johnny and Jax, the triplets nodded and Adrian smiled, he walked over to the grimoire and looked over the spell they had used to create the invisible shield. "This is a really hard spell, but I'm not surprised you pulled it off." The witch commended, his younger siblings were wise beyond their age and that's why Adrian never worried about them so much but the need for safety when practicing was needed.
"I'm glad you guys did all of this, but you needed to be careful, you could've gotten hurt, I'm going to give you a time out okay." The three boys nodded and waited for their punishment. "As for you two, I saw your fight and I'm impressed so I'm not punishing you." Adrian remarked as he tried hard not to stare at Jax. "Sentionos malvo liliorn phatur." He mumbled and the invisible area glowed even more. "I made it strong enough to withstand your full power, and I also made it bigger once you step inside, so go train, we will deal with the thing later." Adrian instructed.
"Thank you, Ari!" Johnny cheered hugging his brother. "Get off me you're sweaty." Adrian whined but it went unheard. "Thank you, baby." Jax mumbled before kissing Adrian. "Get a room!" Johnny yelled walking toward the invisible arena. "You're sweaty also get off." Adrian whined even though he didn't want to let go, Jax chuckled before letting go and ran toward the arena, Adrian himself knew he needed to improve, he had opened a portal on a whim, what if he were in danger again and spells didn't come to him on a whim, this worried him, he had to train, in every aspect of magic.
"Okay boys I know you're excited about magic but you know it's dangerous doing it out there, someone can see you, even if I warded the house, it's not safe, so I'm going to create a safe space in the playroom where you can practice magic, okay, but you have to promise, no showing it at school and no casting spells at school, promise." He exclaimed and the three nodded. "We promise." They all said in unison. "Good, now follow me." Adrian instructed and levitated his grimoire forward into his arms.
He walked toward the library and knelt down onto the bottom drawers, he pulled out a grimoire for little witch beginners, he was excited to have the twins as witches along with Kent not being the odd one out, but somehow Kent's aura was different from the twins, it felt more grounded to nature and the earth. "I'm going to do a physical test on you three okay, I just want to see something." Adrian mumbled to the boys and they all nodded. "Magic is our base ability as witches, we are able to bring things to life or kill them, and do a lot more awesome stuff, remember magic isn't good or bad, it depends on how you use it as a witch, but remember there are others who are different like Jax and Johnny, we are all children of the goddess, different yes but we are still her children, now as you are witches I need to know what your base ability or abilities are, for me I have three, let's see about you guys." He explained and they all eagerly nodded.
It would be easier to identify the magic all three would be inclined to, better able to teach them, Mark was the first one Adrian tapped into, it was explosive, and electric the feel of his magic and Adrian knew where his abilities would sway, Martin vibrated like a slow hum, along with a maelstrom, this made Adrian chuckle, obviously, the twins had been born with affinity that opposed their nature, when he tapped into Kent it was a whole different story, the boy's mana screamed fae and now it wouldn't be hard for Adrian to train them. "You did great guys, now sit on your chairs, Mark and Martin you're reading this, and Kent you're reading this." Adrian laid out the two different books, he expected them to argue because of separation but Kent seemed happy to be doing something different.
He remembered outside when he caught them practicing Kent was out of place, he was a fae practicing witch magic. When the boys got to reading, Adrian moved to the side he had cleared for himself in the huge library, time seemed to move slowly but that wasn't the case, spell after spell Adrian cast and mastered, it was all coming easily to him which surprised him, he had learned of arcane magic, summoning, portals, teleportation, sacrificial magic and more alchemy, in everything he was reading and practicing it all fell into place. He snapped his fingers and the boy's books were replaced with snacks.
He was proud of the extreme progress he was making, he vanished from the spot he was on and appeared outside where the boys laid on the ground, Johnny had both legs and arms broken, Jax had two broken legs and half his right rib cage was shattered, he didn't need to heel them he could feel their bones snapping into place, it was evening now and the barrier glowed as the darkness became more and more apparent, same as the barrier around the house, Adrian raised his hand and a large dark orange symbol appeared above the house, he snapped his fingers and just as he wanted another barrier appeared.
His magical prowess had grown exponentially, and he knew with almost a thousand grimoires in the house, he would get better and he would get stronger, all of them would, and with the kids practicing as well they could protect themselves even just a little but that was progress enough. "That's it for today, clean up and I will be making dinner." Adrian announced and vanished leaving a perplexed Jax and awestruck Johnny.
Once inside the medium snapped his fingers and the groceries began stocking themselves into the shelves, it was honestly better than doing it with his own two hands, by the time he was done, his arms would hurt. The barrier shook as Adrian was cutting his veggies, someone or something was trying to get in. "Jax walked downstairs his eyes the same as a reptile or cat-like slits, he growled slightly as he sniffed the air. "What does she want?" Jax growled, momentarily Adrian forgot about the intruder, Jax smelled divine after his shower, his stubble had Adrian looking at him more often, he was intoxicating.
"Dr. Charlton is outside and I'm not keen on letting her in." The kitsune informed Adrian as he walked toward the door, when he swung it open Adrian was surprised to see she wasn't alone, he was powerful, he was huge, and he was intimidating, no doubt anywhere in Adrian's mind that he was the were patriarch, he waved his hand and the man walked easily toward the main door and so did Dr. Charlton. "I'm sorry, he insisted." She apologized and Jax sighed but still kept his guard. "I haven't felt such a strong aura from a were in a long time, and you Adrian, you're powerful, I've only ever felt power like yours from my son." The man commented as he walked in.
"Thank you, Sir." Adrian offered with a smile. "Please follow me, it's best we use the office." Jax announced as he locked the door and led the three of them to the office which was kept clean but barely used, Adrian was apprehensive about the werewolf at best but everything in him was screaming to trust the man, he radiated a sense of safety that was almost hard to dismiss. "I'm sorry where are my manners, I'm Patriarch Sovietro, but you know me already, I assume, your grandmother goddess bless her soul was a good woman, and an old friend." This information baffled Adrian, the patriarch knew her.
"You knew my grandmother?" He questioned and the wolf nodded. "I did before she passed, I also knew of your parents, they weren't the best of children growing up even separately, your grandmother hoped they would change when you were born but they were consumed by the other and so destroyed themselves until I convinced your father to go for rehab." The were explained and all his words made sense in the puzzle that was Adrian's life, Jax held him close comforting him and he was grateful, that's how the story went, the patriarch had put the dots he missed in his life.
"If you knew them why didn't you show up sooner?" Jax questioned and the two guests sighed. "Your mother didn't want you to be part of the mystic world, your father was neutral in the matter, your grandmother sealed the wolf in your brother to fulfill her wish but it seems you broke the seal as I can sense him, and your two smaller brothers as well, along with a fae child, you followed in your grandmother's footsteps I'm proud." The patriarch replied and this made a tear roll down Adrian's cheek, a lot had been kept from him and now he was discovering a whole world of information that shouldn't have been cut from him. Jax held him as he pulled himself together, the patriarch also moved to hold his hand to comfort him. "At the time it seemed it was the best option but now as the doctor has informed me you've become a powerful being, and the vampires wish to use you, your mate, and family." The giant of a man asserted shocking Adrian, but it was all true, each word he had said.
"We haven't seen what's in the flash drive but all evidence points there." Jax replied and the doctor nodded. "I brought the patriarch because he insisted and also said you would believe his words if you were a firstborn Brooke, as you are aware bloodlines in Greeneway Bay are important and special." The doctor explained and both Adrian and Jax nodded, certain first borns of special bloodlines were more powerful than those around them, they both knew it. "I believe you." It was Jax who mumbled the words. "I do as well patriarch." Adrian added, he trusted the wolf even if he had just met him, his instincts were never wrong.
"I'm glad to hear that, because from here on out you're under the protection of the weres, any problem, mishap or information you are give me, your family has been under my protection for generations and I would never want to dishonor the memory of my old friend." The patriarch asserted with a stern tone, his proclamation wasn't empty, Adrian could feel a change around him and his being, it was as if a blanket had been placed around him protectively. "Thank you, Sir." Jax replied for him. "Doctor Charlton did you notice the demon at the wedding, there was also a vampire that looked like the vampire head but it wasn't him, and do you have any idea why they attacked the wedding." Adrian directed his statement to the doctor who gestured to the patriarch.
"They were looking for blood, specifically untouched magical blood, I believe you know that the demons need sacrifices in pureblood for them to open the portal to their plane of existence, and with—." The patriarch was cut off when Adrian gasped. "They were going for the children." Jax finished, as Adrian deflated beside him, they had put themselves and the kids right for the picking. "Its why I warned you, we've figured out the pattern of the demons and I think they know we have, they are desperate because we've already killed two, they need to open the portal soon and that's where we fall short, the portal is elusive, we don't where it is." The doctor explained and the patriarch nodded in agreement.
"I understand now, I will make sure they are kept safe until the threat has been gotten rid of." Adrian mumbled as Jax kissed the top of his head, he was much more determined to make sure his family was safe and away from harm. "Good, with that they have no way to get any children from special bloodlines as well, the fae head has already been executed, all we need to do is find the portal and close it." The wolf announced and Adrian felt slightly relieved, though she was Zoey's mother her affiliation with the demons had cost people their children, Adrian realized he could help with the search for the portal. "I can help find the portal." He announced and the patriarch smiled. "How?" Jax questioned and Adrian only smiled in response.
"Follow me." Adrian added and led the way to his workroom also library. "Adrian, who is that?" Martin asked hiding behind Jax, Kent and Mark were already behind Johnny, the patriarch was scary, the man was seven foot two after all. "I'm your uncle, I was friends with your grandmother." The huge man offered a dashing smile and the three kids tentatively came out of hiding, his smile was the least bit intimidating. "He's the patriarch isn't he, he knew grams." Johnny mentally asked Adrian who nodded. "He isn't all bad." The younger wolf commended making Adrian chuckle. "He truly isn't." Jax added as he helped Adrian set up the spell.
"Everyone move back, Johnny did you move my rock salt, or did you use it again?" Adrian accused sternly and the boy chuckled nervously making the doctor and patriarch both laugh. "I will have to use an alternative." Adrian mumbled as he placed the bowl on the table he poured snake venom inside added red fern, sun blessing, bloodroot, widows wail, mountain ash, dead man's ash, and a drop of sorveil, everyone watched him work silently, they all marveled watching him, it was artistic even for someone self taught. "It's truly a wonder watching a witch work." The doctor complimented making Adrian blush.
After the mixture became liquid he motioned the patriarch, the doctor, and Jax forward, on each of their palms he drew the runic symbol for sight, as well as on himself. "Hold hands and fair warning this will be nauseating." Adrian warned as he held the hand of the patriarch and his mate, both hands engulfed his, goddess he was small. "Inveniat austiarm lavito maciom palem ostende egoesvos vartum." Adrian cast the spell as his eyes glowed silver, it felt as if he was leaving his body, they moved from his house to a dark part of the city, the outskirts near the old docking bay for merchant ships.
"We are not here, they can't see us but we can see and hear them, this spell puts us inbtween the veil and the netherreal so try not to touch anything." Adrian instructed as he moved the four of them toward the focal point of demonic magic. "I know this place." The doctor mumbled. "One of the bodies was found here, the first ones to die." She further explained as Adrian moved them inside a run down warehouse, down into what looked like a basement and that's when they saw it all, the blood altar, the six remaining demons. "We must find blood, they've hidden the children but find them, if that dog finds us we won't open the portal again, go!" The leader Adrian knew yelled and all the others vanished from sight except him.
Adrian felt they had stayed too long, he moved them back, all four of them gasped for breath from their trance. "That was intense." Jax mumbled panting heavily. "Indeed, but now we know where they are, thank you, Adrian, I wish I could stay for dinner but we must immediately set up a plan of attack." The patriarch expressed and Adrian understood, the man had a job to do. "Thank you for visiting, you're welcome anytime." Adrian expressed and the man chuckled deeply. "I will take you up on the offer soon, have a good night." The man replied just as the front door opened for him. "Stay safe, all of you, remember the way to get stronger is through practice, don't stop." Doctor Charlton advised as she walked out as well.
"I like uncle." Mark mumbled with a giggle making Adrian and Jax laugh as well, it was up to those with more power to handle this, Adrian had done his part, so as he prepared dinner for his family, he hoped they would be safe tomorrow.

        Adrian.

He mumbled and the invisible area glowed even more.
"Get a room!" "I'm glad to hear that, because from here on out you're under the protection of the weres, any problem, mishap or information you are give me, your family has been under my protection for generations and I would never want to dishonor the memory of my old friend." The patriarch asserted with a stern tone, his proclamation wasn't empty, Adrian could feel a change around him and his being, it was as if a blanket had been placed around him protectively. "Thank you, Sir." Jax replied for him. Martin asked hiding behind Jax, Kent and Mark were already behind Johnny, the patriarch was scary, the man was seven foot two after all.

Adrian instructed as he moved the four of them toward the focal point of demonic magic.

The patriarch expressed and Adrian understood, the man had a job to do.
