Finn's influence in Dallas's elite circles was absolute—untouchable. And now, he was wielding that power against me.
I had just begun packing when my agent's message lit up my phone.
Finn made a bet with his boys—said you'd come crawling back within thirty minutes.
Then came the warning: "Faith, if you still want a career in this town, don't piss off Young Master Finn."
I stared at the screen, my fingers tightening around my phone. My gaze drifted over the room, cluttered with gifts from him—tokens of affection that now felt like chains.
It was time.
Time to return it all.
Time to cut ties for good.
So I replied: "Send me the address."
When I reached the private lounge, Darcie's soft, saccharine voice drifted through the door. "Finn, it's a little stuffy in here. Maybe I should step out?"
A loud crash followed—glass shattering against the floor.
Then Finn's voice, sharp with fury: "Put those damn cigarettes out! Can't you see she's pregnant? My kid can't breathe that in!"
I used to sit beside him at these parties.
Back then, I was the one he shielded. He'd snap at anyone lighting up because the smoke left me coughing all night.
But that didn't last.
Eventually, he got tired of it. "Faith, you're an actress. Stop acting so fragile. These are my boys. Suck it up—don't ruin the vibe."
He knew the smoke wrecked me, but he made me endure it.
Now? For Darcie, he was willing to turn on his own crew.
I swallowed the bitterness rising in my throat and pushed the door open.
Laughter erupted.
"Well, well—look who came crawling back! Our little award-winner just couldn't stay away!"
"Who needs Oscars when you've got Finn, right?"
The tension in Finn's brow dissolved. He checked his watch, lips curling into that infuriating smirk.
"Twenty minutes. Guess that pride of yours wasn't so unshakable after all."
Then, coolly: "Darcie's been upset all night because of you. Apologize, and maybe I'll go easy on you."
Eyes locked on me—some mocking, some pitying. To them, every role, every accolade I'd earned was just Finn's money talking.
They didn't know the truth.
Two years ago, when Finn was betrayed and his empire nearly collapsed, I was the one who signed a brutal contract to save him.
Seven years.
It took me seven years to finally see it—Finn never loved me.
Otherwise, how could he look right at me and not see the pallor of my skin, the blood smeared from my IV?
My hands trembled as I dumped everything onto the table—watches, jewelry, every gift he'd ever given me.
"This is all of it. Every last thing from the past seven years. We're even now."
The room went dead silent.
Finn's stare turned glacial, but his grip on his glass whitened his knuckles.
"You think it's that easy? Your contract's still mine. Walk away now, and you owe ten billion. You're just some nobody orphan—how the hell are you gonna pay that?"
When we first met, I lied. Told him I had no family, afraid they'd find me.
That lie used to be his soft spot.
Now, it was his weapon.
A sharp pain lanced through my chest. My fingers brushed the diamond bracelet on my wrist—the one Finn gave me seven years ago, marking me as his.
It felt tighter now, like it was suffocating me.
Finn's breath hitched. "Faith—don't you dare—"
Before he could finish, I ripped the bracelet off and flung it onto the pile.
Game over.
