My agent didn't miss a beat, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Honestly, I thought you had Brooks wrapped around your finger. Just last week, he was asking for your measurements—said he wanted to order your wedding dress."
A sharp laugh. "Guess he changed his mind."
I knew the truth. That dress was never for me—it was for Darcie.
We happened to have the same build, and he'd wanted to surprise her.
Without hesitation, I signed the termination papers.
My agent smirked. "It's not official until Brooks signs too. He's waiting for you at the villa." She leaned in, her tone mocking. "Word of advice? Playing the victim might work in your movies, but if Finn really cuts you loose, you'll look pathetic."
When I arrived, Darcie was there, clutching the wedding dress like a trophy.
Her face lit up when she saw me. "Faith! Finn told me you were the one who donated blood for me. Thank you." She flashed a sweet, practiced smile. "Oh, and sorry about stealing your Best Actress award last time. Finn knew I was upset—he just wanted to make me happy."
Then, like she'd just thought of it: "We're getting married next month! I don't have many friends here… why not be my bridesmaid?"
I tightened my grip on the contract. "Sorry. I'm busy."
My family was already planning my wedding. They'd always known I hated being tied down, but when they heard I was marrying Archie, they'd jumped into action. Once this was over, I'd be on the first flight back to Miami—and never think of Finn again.
Suddenly, Darcie shoved the dress into my arms, grabbed my wrist, and burst into tears. "Faith, how could you say those things?" Her voice cracked. "I won't let you take him from me!"
Then—like I'd pushed her—she crumpled to the floor.
Before I could move, Finn's voice roared behind me. I barely turned in time to see his hand swing—
Crack.
The slap sent my head snapping to the side, my ears ringing. He was already crouching beside Darcie, helping her up with gentle hands.
She sniffled, doe-eyed. "I just wanted to invite her to the wedding, but she accused me of stealing you. Finn… is that true?"
His glare was pure ice. "Darcie, don't waste your breath. Plenty of actresses throw themselves at me—she's nothing special." He brushed her hair back. "Go rest upstairs. I'll be up soon."
Darcie touched her stomach, smiling shyly. "I'll wait for you… both."
The second she left, Finn's mask dropped. He tossed a check at me. "Ten million. Consider it payment for the seven years you spent in my bed."
His voice turned razor-sharp. "I warned you, Faith. Everything goes to Darcie after the baby's born. Was it too much to ask you to keep your mouth shut?"
I laughed—hard—until tears streaked my face.
So this was the real Finn Brooks. And God, he made me sick.
No matter how ugly our fights had been, I'd always caved first. But now, staring into his cold eyes, I pulled out the contract. "It's signed. We're done."
For a second, he looked stunned. Then fury twisted his features. "Fine. Your choice, Faith. Don't come crawling back."
He scrawled his name and hurled the papers at me. "Get out."
For the first time in years, I felt calm. It was over.
I picked up the contract, walked out, and didn't look back.
At the airport, just as I was about to turn off my phone, a notification popped up—a company announcement:
"BREAKING: Faith's career ends in scandal. After suffering a miscarriage on set, she's been removed from production and forced into retirement. Sources say she tried manipulating Brooks with the tragedy, but he saw right through her. Meanwhile, Darcie shines brighter than ever—her elegance and talent make her the perfect match for Brooks!"
The screen lit up again.
Finn Brooks – Calling…
