The words barely left my lips when my former agent's face twisted in discomfort. He couldn't shake the memory of the cruel things he'd once said to me.
Noticing his hesitation, Finn gave him a sharp nudge with his foot.
"Spit it out! You're the one who handed me Faith's measurements when I asked."
The agent gulped, then forced out the truth. "Yes, this dress was designed by President Brooks himself. He handpicked the designer, had it custom-made for you. Faith, you've been gone so long—Dallas to Miami, everything must feel foreign now. That Archie? He's nothing but a reckless thrill-seeker, always pushing limits, risking it all."
"Just listen to me—come back to President Brooks. He's been out of his mind without you these past two weeks."
Finn's eyes burned with desperation as he held the wedding dress toward me.
"Faith, every diamond, every stitch—I chose them all with you in mind. This was made for you."
"I was wrong. I never should've believed Darcie, never should've doubted you, never should've hurt you."
"Can you forgive me? Just this once? For the sake of the day I saved your life?"
But the sight of the dress only brought back the memory of Finn shoving that ten-million-dollar check in my face.
"Finn, there's something you don't know. I'm not really an orphan. My parents adore me. They promised if I won Best Actress, they wouldn't force me into an arranged marriage."
"But you gave that award to Darcie."
"The day before you forced me to donate blood for her, I lost my baby. A tiny, fragile life—gone in an instant."
"That day, I almost died. But you said saving Darcie would settle the debt from when you once saved me."
"I don't regret it. But Finn, I've repaid you."
"I owe you nothing now."
His face went pale, lips trembling as if searching for words—but I cut him off.
"Leave, Finn. Archie and I are getting married. We've known each other since we were kids. This isn't some tantrum—I've finally figured out my own heart. I won't betray my husband, and I refuse to be tied to you any longer."
"Don't come near me again."
I steadied my voice, keeping it calm.
But Finn wouldn't let go.
His grip tightened around my arm, desperate.
"Faith, please. Just one more chance. Don't marry him. I'm begging you."
His eyes glistened as he dropped to his knees.
Then, like a shadow, Archie appeared—his gaze sharp, possessive.
Without hesitation, he slid an arm around my waist from behind, a cold smirk curling his lips.
"President Brooks, shouldn't you be cleaning up your mess in Dallas? What brings you all the way here to harass my wife?"
A low chuckle.
"Oh, right—I heard you and Darcie tied the knot. We haven't sent a gift yet, though I'm not sure we're that close."
Finn's face drained of color as he stared at me.
I didn't hesitate—I slapped him hard across the cheek.
"Shameless. What makes you think I'd ever want a man who can't control his own impulses?"
Archie leaned in, brushing his lips against my ear before murmuring, "Who said she's a stranger to Miami? Ever heard of Alfie Harper, the city's top jeweler? Faith is the Harper family's pride and joy."
My former agent's eyes bulged in shock. Finn's expression twisted as he gaped at me.
"You… you're really the Harper heiress?"
He muttered under his breath, as if remembering—back when he was drowning, he'd refused to borrow money out of sheer pride.
