Coming home to find my front door vandalized with red paint and deep knife marks turned my stomach. The neighbors across the hall were too terrified to even peek outside, immediately calling the cops instead.
When the police arrived, they hauled the perpetrators in for questioning. My security cameras had captured everything in crystal clear detail. After some intense interrogation, they cracked—Brianna had sent them.
Seeing her at the station was like watching a rabid animal. Gone was the composed bitch I knew—she was completely unhinged, screaming threats and obscenities at me. She accused me of defamation, vowing to sue me into oblivion and "expose my true colors" to the world.
Watching her meltdown, I couldn't suppress a dark chuckle.
Oh honey, this is just the opening act.
That same night, Noel finally cracked too. His voice sounded hollow when he called—like a man who'd been through hell. "You want the divorce, Cornelia? Fine," he conceded. "But you need to set the record straight. I supported you and your mom for two years. Whatever happened between you and Brianna—that's not on me."
Some childhood sweetheart. The moment things got rough, he was scrambling to save his own ass.
Pathetic.
At Family Court, he looked like death warmed over—sunken eyes, patchy stubble, and noticeably thinner. Like he hadn't slept in weeks. He opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but I wasn't interested. I strode in, signed the papers, and walked out with my divorce certificate in under ten minutes.
Just as I turned to leave, he grabbed my arm. "Nellie," he said hoarsely, "I... I'm sorry. For everything. I never meant—"
"Save it for my mother's grave," I cut him off. "Congratulations though. May you and Brianna rot together."
As I walked away, I caught him staring after me—mouth half-open like a fish out of water. I pulled out my phone and made one quick call: "It's time."
Within minutes, reporters descended on him like vultures.
"Mr. Seyfertt! Can you confirm the allegations about you and Brianna Bridgers?"
"Is it true you conspired to kill your mother-in-law?"
"Did you negotiate terms for this divorce? What were you trying to hide?"
His face cycled through shock, rage, then sheer panic as he tried shoving through the mob. But the pack only tightened around him, cameras flashing, voices overlapping. Bystanders started heckling too, until Noel finally snapped—screaming at the crowd like a madman: "You don't know shit! Back the fuck off!"
From the safety of my car, I watched the spectacle with icy satisfaction.
Later that night, Noel dragged himself home—only to find Brianna in full demolition mode, hurling anything not nailed down. "Cornelia, you fucking bitch!" she screeched, smashing a lamp against the wall. "I'll destroy you! I swear to God I'll kill you!"
When she spotted the divorce papers in his hand, she lunged at him. "Well? Did you get anything useful?"
Noel's expression turned glacial. Without a word, he brushed past her, marched to their bedroom, and started hurling her designer clothes into the hallway.
"Get out," he said flatly. "You're done here."
Her shriek could've shattered glass. "You're throwing me out? After everything? My family disowned me because of you!"
"Because of me?" He wheeled on her, venom dripping from every word. "Was I holding the pillow over Nellie's mom's face? You dug this grave yourself. If I hadn't covered for your psycho ass, you'd be wearing orange jumpsuits by now!"
