Morally Grey - Annie Leonhart x Reader - Chapter 6: Chapter 6

You, Eren, Armin, and Mikasa walked around Stohess district, waiting to bump into Annie. The plan was the four of you were to meet with Annie and she would help "escort" you guys into the underground tunnels. There, you would spring your trap and capture her in a place where she could not transform.
Your stomach was in knots and you felt a little sick; to lie and attack Annie like this made you hate yourself immensely. Ever since you were pulled into this plan, you spent every hour trying to convince yourself that it was for the best of the people, and you were doing all you could for your mission to avenge humanity, like you promised yourself.
But it wasn't working.
All you could think about was Annie, and the hurt on her face when she would find out what you were going to do to her. You felt your chest tighten at the thought.
"Hey Annie!" Armin suddenly called from in front of you, and your head snaps up to see the blonde approaching your group. Armin jogs up to meet her and drop the lie of your mission "she's needed to escort us to a possible suspect for a private scout mission, and she's been allowed by her captain to help us."
She made her way to your group and fell into step beside you as the trio walked ahead. You couldn't meet her eyes, and you tried your best to seem as nonchalant as possible.
She leaned over and nudged you with her shoulder. "Are you okay?" She asked quietly, but you could tell Mikasa caught on, as she slightly angled her head in your direction.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, and tried to come up with an easy lie.
"I think I got a bit of a stomach bug; I'm not feeling too hot today" you say, clutching your stomach is pretending. She gives you a side eye for a few moments, thinking on your response.
"I hope you feel better" she mumbles after a few moments.
The five of you walk in silence for many minutes after that, the focus on keeping the vibe controlled and unsuspicious. Eventually your party reaches the entrance to the underground tunnels. Barely looking back, the four of you start making your way down the stairs. Your eyes ever glued to the floor, and you noticed the lack of feet walking beside you. You turn around to see Annie standing at the top of the stairs.
"Annie?" You whisper as your stomach drops.
"I'm sorry y/n" she says quietly, a small sad smile on her face. Blood rushes to your ears and the only thing you can hear is the rush. You can hear the muffled noises of Armin and Eren talking, voices raising as Annie takes a step back. You can see Mikasa step up beside, you her sword out as she speaks. Your vision tunnels and all you can see is Annie at the top of the stairs.
All of the sudden Annie's high shrill laughter breaks the roar of your blood. She brings her hand to her mouth and you hear a shot blow from behind you. The flare signal.
From all sides the hired citizens rushed towards Annie, jumping on her and grabbing her arms, legs, and slinging a gag in her mouth. Your heart rate sped up and you wanted nothing more than to jump up and pull her from their grasps.
Suddenly you see a flash on her hand, and you feel yourself yanked back by your jacket, body dragged down the stairs by Eren who was being dragged by Mikasa. You saw blood fly and a sudden flash, and your body flies down into the dark tunnel as an explosion rips through the air. Your head collided with the stone and you blacked out.
