When you came to all you could see was darkness. You sat yourself on your elbows trying to figure out where you were. After a few moments you remembered what happened.
The explosion.
Annie.
Annie.
Your heart bear stopped. That was it. The end. Annie was the female Titan.
A killer.
You thought you'd feel disgusted. Angry.
But you didn't.
A thousand thoughts ran through your head as you tried to find your way around in the dark. Annie betrayed us. She killed my comrades. She's a murderer.
Why don't I hate her?
You were upset at your lack of rage towards the obvious betrayal of someone who was close with many of you; she put humanity in danger; is probably doing that now. But you felt nothing but fear.
Fear for the girl you loved.
. . .
Eventually you had found some loose stones in the dark, and you pulled them away with as much strength as you could manage, cutting and tearing your fingernails. You felt blood run down your hand, but you also saw light shining through the hole you made. You continued to pull stones from the blockage and tried to crawl out.
"Y/n!" You head and looked up to see Jean, covered in dust, running towards you. He helped pull you out of the rubble, scraping your sides and ripping your uniform a little bit.
Once you were free, Jean crouched to catch his breath.
"So Annie really is the female Titan. Though I guess you knew that. That bitch" that last part was mumbled under under his breath, but you could see the anger, but also the sadness at losing another friend.
The two of you made your way to the surface, and were met with destruction all around you. Buildings had been trampled to the ground; debris lay in every road: wood and stone piles from the destroyed homes. Using your gear you and Jean flew up to the room of a house only to be met with a more horrifying sight. Annie and Eren were brutally fighting; their fists flying and smashing into the Titan flesh of the other. Your stomach curled at the sight.
Suddenly, Eren brought Annie down and was brutally punching her; fists smashing muscle and making blood fly.
"Annie!" You cry and start flying towards her, using the last of your gas. Your ears roared and adrenaline flooded your veins as you tried to approach Annie without putting yourself or anyone else in harm's way. You landed on a rooftop not that far away, landing beside Connie who was watching with horror. He explained what had already happened; the new trap, Annie climbing up the wall trying to escape, and the beginning of Eren and Annie's fight.
Your gut twisted at the thought of missing so much. There has been plenty of opportunities to help Annie (though you didn't know what you'd do if you did; you knew they'd kill her for being the female Titan).
Your attention went back to the awful scene in front of you, as Annie and Eren wrestled on the ground for power. You saw Eren ripping the female titan's flesh away, trying to get to her nape. Annie tried her best to cover herself with her hands, but Eren was brutal, snapping his own fingers in the process of ripping Annie's away.
You felt like everything was crashing down around you.
They're gonna kill her
He's gonna kill her
She's about to be dead.
You felt faint, nauseous, and buzzing with energy all at the same time. Terror gripped you and made it hard to breathe. You felt on the verge of vomiting and passing out.
The girl you loved more than yourself,
more than your promise for goodness,
was about to be killed
right in front of your eyes.
Suddenly Eren's jaw rips into her neck, pulling the girl out. You scream, unable to keep it in. But out of Eren's mouth comes a thick blue crystal with the faint outline of a body inside. You sped down toward Eren, and the other scouts followed suit. Eren tried smashing the crystal, biting it, throwing it, dropping it, but nothing made it break.
People crowded around the carnage, looking at Annie trapped in the crystal while the higher ups of each military decided what to do.your brain was fuzzy and you hardly caught what was being done about her. You just stared, as hours went by and people cleaned, as people came to collect the crystal to bring it away.
You just stared as they took away the girl you loved; trapped in a crystal and away from you.
far away.
