My stomach twisted into knots as the seconds dragged on. Sophia Hill's words echoed in my mind—how some men preferred prostitutes from behind because they couldn't stand looking at their painted faces. Instead, they'd imagine someone else.
Nathan Roscente had crossed every line. Did he really think I was some cheap hooker he could use however he wanted?
I fought back, thrashing against him, but it was useless.
Then his phone rang—once, twice, relentless—until he finally snapped. With a frustrated growl, he released me and yanked it from his pocket.
I caught the name flashing on the screen: Victoria Royston.
He answered, voice tight. "We agreed on tonight. Why are you calling?"
Whatever she said made his expression shift instantly. A slow, wicked smirk curled his lips. "Relax. I know exactly what you're into. I'll make sure to bring all your… special toys."
The second his attention wavered, I bolted for the door. His shouts chased me down the hall, but I didn't stop running until I collapsed at my desk, my pulse hammering so hard I could barely breathe.
This was it. Nathan wasn't going to let me go.
The weight of his blackmail crushed me. I couldn't let him keep playing this sick game. Secrets always came out—if Daniel Evans ever found out, it would be too late to fix anything.
My phone buzzed nonstop with Nathan's filthy messages. The thought of him sleeping with countless women made bile rise in my throat. I barely made it to the restroom before retching violently. Sophia found me there, pale and shaking.
"Are you pregnant?" she asked.
I let out a bitter laugh. Pregnant? Impossible. Daniel and I had never even slept together. The realization cut deeper than I expected.
The fear of Nathan cornering me at work became unbearable. I took sick leave, desperate for the safety of home.
Miraculously, Daniel wasn't traveling. He came back early every night, cooking my favorite meals himself.
For a little while, things almost felt normal again. Maybe this was enough—even without physical intimacy, wasn't companionship something precious?
I tried to erase Nathan from my mind, but I knew I was just lying to myself. Quitting crossed my thoughts, but I loved my job too much—and the salary was something I couldn't afford to lose.
The night Daniel left for his business trip, boredom drove me to bed early after half-watching some forgettable show.
Then my phone rang—an unknown number.
I answered cautiously. "Hello?"
"The Ritz-Carlton. Room 1605. Be there in thirty minutes."
Nathan's voice. Of course.
After days of ignoring his texts and calls, he'd resorted to this.
"My husband's home. I can't—maybe another time—"
His laugh sent ice through my veins. "Daniel's away negotiating our company's deal. Did you really think I wouldn't know? Move your ass. I'm not in the mood to wait. Unless you want him to get that video… I'd love to see his reaction."
"You—" Rage choked me.
The line went dead.
I had no choice but to obey.
How long would this nightmare last? Would I be his plaything until he finally got bored?
