I felt like the air escaped my lungs as my back hit the ground and for a second there, I saw stars dancing on my vision. I stayed flat on my back as I regained my strength and heard her clicked her tongue. She said that we would just do warm ups while waiting for Scarlett and where that got me? on the ground!
"Are you just gonna lie there all day?" she asked with a hint of irritation in her voice. I groaned as I lifted my upper body using my elbows as support. It has been three days since Scarlett decided to teach me with just the basics to protect myself and it has been two weeks since I got here with nothing to do so I said yes to this torment.
"This is not my kind of warm up," I remarked while I staggered up. She chuckled which annoyed me more. I brushed the dried leaves clinging on my clothes as I stared her down. It seemed like seeing me in pain brought her pleasures.
"Round two?"
"You wish," I gave her a quick fake smile before walking towards the bench where Scarlett loved to sit. Violet shook her head before walking towards the house. As she reached the porch, Scarlett opened the door at the same time and gave her a quick smile before jogging in my direction. What did Scarlett saw in her?  She looked needy, slutty and bitchy...and so forth.
"Hey, oh, are you okay? Your face is red,"
"Yup, just did some warm ups,"
"Oh good, now we can start right away." I grudgingly stood up and followed her while gently massaging my neck. I craned my neck to both sides to lessen the little stiffness before squaring my shoulders to face her. She eyed me curiously while her expression set into a frown.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah," I answered as a matter of fact. If I would ever get my hands on Violet, I would drag her across the ground.
"Okay, if you say so,"
She took a deep breath and stood firmly on her ground. Her eyes were trained on me as she adjusted herself into a fighting stance. I did the same and waited for her to launch an attack. I left out everything and focused solely on her but then as if my eyes had a life on their own, they slowly trailed down to her chest.
"Shit," I mumbly cursed. I was distracted that I didn't see Scar's fist stopped inches from my face. I blinked my surprised and looked past the fist in front of me. She retracted her fist and shook her head.
"Do I have to remind you to be ready?" she asked dejectedly. How embarassing was it that I got distracted just by her chest. I felt like a pervert all of a sudden. Why did she have to wear a sleeveless tee that showed enough of her cleavage? It was distracting.
"Sorry, again,"
Focus Olivia!
I once again  shifted to a fighting stance and focused. All I had to do was not to look at her chest and everything would be fine. Without much ado, Scar sent a swift punch to my direction which I managed to block. She then swung another punch but I deflected it and countered a kick to her side but the expert she was, she quickly blocked it.
"Good, but still slow and predictable."
"Oh cut me some slack,"
We continued our practice which I admit, was pretty fun but I surrendered after thirty minutes when I felt like I couldn't move my limbs anymore. We both collapsed on the ground and when I did, I winced when my back hit the ground. I felt like I bruised a certain spot on my back when Violet swiped me off my feet earlier. That bitch!
We laid in a comfortable silence until our panting turned into steady calm breaths. I liked moments like this when it was just the two of us, no distractions or interruptions. In just two weeks of living together, Scar and I had grown pretty close. I was like already immune to her presence that I would miss her if I was apart from her. And I admit, I would get jealous whenever Violet would get so touchy around her. I didn't know when did I start to get so possessive over her but if I was feeling like this, it would only mean that no one would get to touch her but me.
"Scar?"
"Hmm,"
"When can we get back to school?" She propped her elbow, supporting her head as she turned to look at me. I met her gaze and like always, I was mesmerized by those two beautiful orbs.
"Why? You miss school?" she asked while smiling in amusement. I rolled my eyes at her silly question and mirrored her position so we were now facing each other.
"I would pretend that you didn't just ask that."
"Okay, so you miss the cheer practice?"
I nodded, "It's just that the annual cheer competition is in less than two months and we're still halfway in our routine, hells the others have yet master some of the steps. I just want everything to be perfect and ready, you know."
"I understand but there's no need for you to worry. We have talented and diligent dancers, have a little faith in them and besides they have you as a captain, what could go wrong? So just relax okay?"I nodded and like something heavy was lifted off of my chest when she said those words. I never knew that she trusted me that much and knowing it, made me want to hug her right now. Gosh, she has no idea how she made me happy just by saying those words.
We fell into a comfortable silence while gazing at each other. A smile was still written in her lips as her hand shot forward grabbing something on my head. She unplucked a tiny dried leaf from a tangled strands on my hair and whisked it away. Heat rose to my cheeks at the small gesture but I didn't look away as I enjoyed staring at her eyes.
The smile on her lips slowly died down and her expression turned serious as she brought her hand near my face, tucking a stray strand behind my ear. The small contact sent shivers throughout my body. As she pulled her hand, her face slowly inched closer while her eyes darted to my lips. But as the anticipation of wanting her lips against mine got over me, I leaned in, meeting her halfway and sealed our lips. A burst of excitement ignited in the pit of my stomach when I finally tasted her soft lips. I never knew someone could give me this kind of feeling. The feeling that didn't exist when I was with Brad.
Scar hovered over me as I let her took over the kiss. I found myself lying on the back while her tongue ventured inside my mouth and I let out a moan as she deepened the kiss. Gosh, everything was overwhelmingly good, my mind has gone haywire and while we were liplocking, I realized two things: I was attracted to her and I had been liking her since the day I met her, I was just too dumb to notice and second thing was, well, I guess I was definitely a bi afterall. I was just glad we kissed to realize all of these.
As much as I wanted to continue what we were doing, I gently pushed Scar by her shoulders. She pulled away and stared at me, confused, but at the same time, the burning desire in her eyes was still palpable. I wanted her but it wasn't the perfect time nor the place to do it so I had to stop. I was surprised at myself for not taking things further which I usually do when I started kissing someone. But Scar wasn't just a someone, I liked her and something inside of me told me to take things slow.
"God, this is embarassing, I'm sorry Liv," she said and rolled to her side.
"It's fine. I kissed you first, didn't I?"
She looked at me and her eyes lighted up when she smiled. I smiled in response and scooted near her until our arms brushed against each other. I thought it would be awkward after I stopped her but thankfully she took it lightly.
When I was about to speak what was on my mind, I heard a roaring engine in the distance. Scar must have heard it too when we both sat up at the same time. A moment after, a black sedan car pulled up beside my car. I couldn't see who was inside since the car was tinted. Scar slowly rose up and seemed to be so calm while watching the car. I stood up and held her arm as I felt cautious and nervous.
Two men got out of the car, both wearing suits. If I wasn't wrong, the two probably were the same age as us. Scar must have known those two since she remained calm as they approached us. Okay, I admit, they both looked handsome and manly and if I wasn't attracted to Scar, I would have hit with those two.
"So nice of you to join us, finally," Scar remarked as she smirked at the two. The guy with a jet black hair smiled at Scar and pulled her into a hug. I eyed the other guy with a blonde hair who was suspiciously silent as he remained stoic and unbothered. What's with this guy?
"It's been long Topnotch," the black-haired guy replied as they pulled apart.
Scar laughed, shaking her head, "Yeah it is champ,"
The black-haired guy turned towards me as if he just noticed, "And you must be Olivia Cox. Hi, I'm Darren Richards, nice to meet you,"
"You too," I replied, shaking his hand. My gaze swayed to the blonde guy and frowned at him, "And who are you?" His eyes flickered to me for a brief moment before looking away. I shook my head in disbelief and heard Scar and Darren snorted in laughter.
"Okay, let's go in," Scar suggested swinging an arm over Darren's shoulders as they walked. From what I could see, they were bestbuds. "Oh and Liv?" Scar turned in her side.
"Yeah?"
"Why don't you show the blonde guy around, he must be curious," Scar laughed as she and Darren proceeded inside, leaving me behind with the mute blonde guy. I rolled my eyes as I turned back to the guy. What does Scar take me for, a guide?
"Hey you, you're not interested in looking around right? Yes? Okay cool, let's go inside," I prompted hoping for him to follow me but when I looked back, he didn't move an inch in his place. Groaning in frustration, I walked to him and stopped in arm's length, glaring him down. His expression remained the same as his lips moved to speak.
"Isn't she beautiful?"
My brows quirked up, "Excuse me?"
"Scarlett. Isn't she beautiful? You know, I always dream of touching her, how her skin feels against mine and those lips, I would surely be over the moon when I get to taste them. I'm glad when she and Violet broke up because now, I will surely make her mine."
"EXCUSE ME? Who do you think you are?" I growled making him raised his left brow but his face remained as stoic as ever. Was this guy for real? How could he casually say things like that in front of me? I knew he had no idea I liked Scar but damn, it angered me to no end. Just thinking about Scar going out with another guy or girl made me sick.
"Is there a problem? Do you like her?"
I shortened the gap between us until our noses touched as I glared at him, "Go figure that out, and don't think for a second I'll let you touch my bodyguard,"
"Ohhhh, possessive much?"
"Very!" With one last glare, I stormed off away from him and headed towards the house. I didn't care if Scar would get mad for not showing the bastard around, he could just show himself around for all I care. I was just too angry to deal with stuff right now as I kept thinking that I didn't just have one but two competitors for Scar's heart and if I would add Sara to the list, that would make three. Sigh, why does Scar have to be so damn beautiful?
I never thought I would get to see the day that I would be chasing someone instead of me being chased.
Scar and Darren halted their conversation the moment I entered the house with a grim look. Scar gave me her questioning expression as I rounded the couch to stand in front of them.
"I hate him," I confessed crossing my arms over my chest. Scar just looked at me indifferent while Darren just shifted in his place.
"What did he do Liv?" Scar asked nonchalantly.
I clenched my jaw while thinking about what he said, "He's a pervert. He's been dreaming of touching you and make you his Scarlett!" I said a little too loud. Scar's pursed into a tight line as she looked at Darren. The two stared at each other in a moment until Darren snorted followed by an echo of laughter from the two. I frowned while watching them laughing so hard as if I told them a joke.
I watched them both in anger until they stopped laughing their stomachs out.
"Gosh, he did a good job," Darren commented while wiping the edges of his eyes.
"Did I say something funny?"
"No, not at all. But I assure he can't and won't do that to Scarlett,"
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because he's my boyfriend," My mouth hung opened as I stared at him, embarrassed.
"B-Boyfriend?" I stammered as I tried to process the thing he said. If that pervert was his boyfriend then why did he said those things about Scarlett.
"Yeah, he only likes boys so what you said is just impossible but do forgive him though, he just likes to fool around."
While still in shock, a heavy arm slumped over my shoulders. I tilted my head to see who it was and saw the pervert's smirking face. I immediately slapped her arm and went up to Scar's side. Noticing my reaction, he feigned hurt by putting his hand to his chest. Darren walked up to his side and kissed the pervert's cheek before turning at our direction.
"Olivia, meet my boyfriend Sean Spencer, Sean meet Olivia Cox, Scarlett's client and girlfriend!"
"What?!" I shrieked at the same time with Scarlett. Clearly we didn't expect for him to say that and it surprised us. I turned away as I didn't want them to see me flustered. The two boys chuckled which made me blush more. Not wanting to be more embarrassed, I excused myself and ran upstairs almost bumping Violet in the process as she descended down the stairs.
Shutting the door, I leaned my back against it and patted my blushing cheeks. How silly of me to get so flustered just like that. I was acting like a lovestruck teenager right now which didn't suit me. Gosh, how was I gonna face them after the embarrassing things I did earlier. I mistook Sean as my rival and basically told him I liked Scar and he would probably tell her about it.
Sighing, I walked to the bed and flopped down on the soft mattress but I let out a soft hiss when I felt the small tender pain on my back. I got up and sauntered towards the full-body mirror and slowly lifted up my shirt. I turned to my back as I examined the skin on my reflection. I was right, there was a small reddish patch in the middle of my back. I must have hit a small rock or something when I crushed down.
"Liv what happened?" I almost lost my balance when Scar's worried voice surprised me. She quickly walked up to me and whirled me around so she could check the bruise. "Why didn't you tell me about this?"
I rolled down my shirt and faced her, "Do I have to?"
She shrugged and with a lingering gaze, she walked towards the door and stopped, her hand on the knob, "I'll go get some ice," she said and opened the door. My lips curled up and once again heat rose to my cheeks as I approached the bed and sat. Seeing her concerned face, caused a tingle in my stomach and the warmth of her touch still lingered on my shoulders.
The rest of the afternoon spent talking and catching up with the two boys. Scar was trying to include me in some of their conversations but mostly I spent my time listening to them. Apparently, the reason for the boys' visit was to update Scar about the situation in the city. Since there hasn't been any unusual activity from the people pursuing us, they decided that it would be okay to go back to the city as long as there would be undercover bodyguards around. I was glad for it because it would mean that I could get back to practice. And as part of the plan, it would be safer for me to stay at Scar's temporary house and where was it, I didn't really know. But hearing it, swelled my heart with happiness, although it was short-lived when they mentioned that Violet would live with us . Unfortunately, she was part of the protection plan now.
It was late in the afternoon when Darren and Sean went on their way. I was glad that they left as I was bothered by their constant teasing. I had never blushed so much in my entire existence and it pissed me off but at the same time I liked it.
Saturday morning came and Scar's smiling face greeted me the moment I pried my eyes open. I gently pulled back my arm resting on her waist and scooted further on my side. Waking up like that didn't bother me that much anymore since I often found myself on the same position, although I felt a tiny bit of embarrassment as I always crossed the invisible line, not that Scar minded though because if she did, then she would have always push me off the bed.
After taking our brunch at the same time, Scar asked me to go with her to the city which I happily obliged as it has been weeks since I had been holed up in the house. Winning the pool game was my chance to get out for a while but I didn't expect her to be so damn good so as the deal, I had been on my best behavior, helping Violet in cooking, washing the dishes with Scar and ofcourse, agreeing with her to teach me to defend myself.
As Scar mentioned, our first stop was her temporary house or her base of operation, as what she preferred to call it. As we were nearing the place, I couldn't help but to look around as the street was so familiar. And when she halted the car, I faced her in a questioning look.
"What are we doing in my house?" My eyes darted from her to the empty house on my right side.
"Just want to check it," she answered nonchalantly. She turned the car around after a minute of examining the empty house. I groaned when I thought that we would have to drive another hour or so but she stopped at the abandoned house just across my house which irritated me.
"So do you want to check that house also?" I asked impatiently. She merely shrugged and stepped on the pedal and navigated to the driveway of the house. I felt like my patient was slowly slipping, thinking that she was pulling a joke on me. If she was then she better think twice.
She turned the engine off and got out, walking straight to the house as if she was living there. I got out and followed behind her. I was about to snap at her but when she opened the door, I was surprised that I remained silent while cautiously sauntered inside.
"This is your base?"
"Yeah!"
"So we're basically neighbor and you didn't tell me?"
"Do I have to?"
When I didn't answer her, she proceeded upstairs after checking the living room and kitchen. I looked around the living room and noticed that it was bare, no designs and whatnot, just plain white wall and the ordinary setting of a living room. Ofcourse what would I expect from a house that has been abandoned for years now. I wondered why the people who wanted to abduct me didn't check this house, I mean, it was abandoned for years then suddenly, it has been occupied the same time the danger started. As what Scar mentioned, agents were sent here everyday to check but ever since we left the city, no one has intruded this place. Weird!
After a couple of minutes, Scar came back from upstairs and said everything was okay. Nodding, I walked towards the door but Scar's voice halted me.
"Baby, where are you?" she yelled while looking for something or someone.
Baby?
"Come out wherever you are,"
Is she hiding a guy here? Or perhaps a girl?
"Oreo! Where are you?"
So it's a guy! But weird name for a person eh?
I watched her curiously as she kept calling the Oreo guy from the living room then to the kitchen. Bored and irritated, I went out the house and stomped towards the car. Getting in, I fastened myself and took deep breaths to calm me down. I didn't know why I was irritated in the first place.
Scar came out, holding something in her arms but I didn't get a clear look at it as I was busy cooling myself. Leaning my head on the window, I closed my eyes so that she wouldn't talk to me as I heard the car door opened then slammed shut.
"Liv, meet Oreo, my baby!"
"Yeah, whatever," I mumbled. When I didn't look at her, I felt something licked on my face. Disgusting!
"Did you just li-..." My outburst was cut short when a cute little thing obscured my view. I gasped when I realized it looked like the one she found the night of the attack. Could it be?
"Liv, this is Oreo!" I took the little one from her grasp and brought him to my chest.
"Is this him?" She nodded understanding what I meant. Seeing the cute pup filled my heart with happiness. I never thought I wouldn't see him again and it saddened me but I was glad he ended up with Scar than back in the streets. Just seeing how he gained weight, Scar did a great job of taking care of him.
After we left the place, Scar drove for another twenty minutes looking for some place I didn't know. The long ride didn't bother me though unlike earlier since I had Oreo to play with. We stopped in front of a jewelry store and Scar got out after telling me to stay inside the car. I did what she told me so and play with Oreo. I wasn't worried being left alone since I doubted that someone would do harm on me in this street packed with people. Tickling Oreo's belly, I wondered whom she would buy a jewelry for. Probably it would be for Violet as I heard Scar asked what she wanted for her birthday this coming Wednesday. I felt a prickling sensation on my chest just thinking about Scar giving something to Violet.
"I'm becoming a jealous freak now Oreo," I mumbled while stroking her his soft fur. After ten minutes of constant sighing, finally Scar got in the car, started the engine and navigated past the busy street. Since she got in, she never said a word and just continued driving while I leaned my head on the window, pretending to be asleep while Oreo was sleeping soundly in my lap.
We didn't get that far from the store when my stomach grumbled, loud enough for Scar to hear. Mentally cursing my stomach, I tried my best to pretend asleep, feeling a little embarrassed. Seconds after, Scar snorted then laughed which made me open my eyes and feigned a yawn.
"What are you laughing at?" I asked as soon as she stopped laughing.
She shrugged nonchalantly, "Nothing. We should eat, I bet you're hungry,"
Since it was almost five in the afternoon, I suggested that we should stop at a convenience store rather than eat in a restaurant which Scar thought of. She agreed and stopped at the store she first stumbled and we both entered while carrying Oreo in my arms.
I went straight to the chocolate section and grabbed five chocolate bars which would surely suffice my hunger. Scar just shook her head while watching me amused. She then grabbed some biscuits for her then we made way to the fridges to get some drinks.
After we were done, we fell in line to the counter, fortunately there were only four people aside from us. Tapping my foot, I waited patiently amidst the constant grumble of my stomach. Soon after, it was the bald's man turn, before me, to pay but instead of paying, he pulled out a gun and aimed it at the middle-aged woman who looked shocked.
Acting out of reflex, I stepped back as I watched them in horror. My heart was in frenzy while hugging Oreo tight in my arms as I watched the woman's terrified look. That was when I felt a hand on my arm and pulled me back further.
"Hurry the cash old lady!" the bald barked, gripping the gun tight, it shook in his hand.
Looking at Scar, I saw her her smile before nearing the bald man. She tapped the man's back and when he turned around to point the gun at her, she instantly kicked it out of his hand and it went cascading to the side. The surprised robber threw a punch but before it could land to Scar's face, her kick connected to his head that sent the man unconscious to the floor.
"You can call the police ma'am," she said to the lady who still looked agape, "Ma'am?"
"R-Right!"
Scar easily dragged the unconscious body to the side and made him sat upright, leaning to the wall. She beckoned for me to go to the counter as the lady ended the call. She stood near me after grabbing her biscuits and soda she put on a table.
"Thank you so much miss. You really save me there. Thank you!"
Scar smiled, "It's nothing ma'am." She was about to put her food on the counter when the lady stopped her.
"No please. I'll make it free for you, it's the least I can do,"
"It's unnecessary ma'am, there's no need. I insist to pay,"
"But-..."
"Please ma'am, let me pay,"
Since we got back to the car, I couldn't take my eyes off of Scar. It was like she became more attractive than ever after that little action she pulled. I was definitely in awe-stricken by her. Yes, I had seen her fight but earlier was different, how her smile calmed me instantly, the way her body moved in action was just graceful before my eyes and the kindness she displayed to the lady was just admirable.
"I think I'm melting now,"
"What?"
"Stop staring at me,"
"Ahhh, you're no fun,"
"How can staring at someone be fun?"
"It is fun, so please let me stare at you, just this once," I teased as I put on a puppy face. She didn't answer while her forehead furrowed in confusion.
She sighed as she rolled her eyes, "Fine, if you must!" I giggled and stared at her while stuffing chocolate on my mouth. I noticed her ear turned red as she kept glancing from her peripheral vision. She must be feeling conscious right now and I smiled as I found it cute. I knew it bothered her but I couldn't help it, she was just too irresistible. Sigh, I never knew I would be hit so hard like this.
