I watched Helena expectantly as she paced, while conversing with someone on the phone. Judging by her hard expression, I knew she was hearing an unpleasant news. After a couple of minutes, she ended the call and unexpectedly slammed the phone on her table. Confused, I briefly glanced at Red who was leaning against the wall, meeting her curious gaze before bringing my attention back to the boss. She then angrily swiped all the things on her table and cursed, causing me to approach her instantly. Not that I was actually worried, I was pretending to be worried.
"What's wrong?" I asked, sounding worried.
Her eyes turned to slits when she looked at me. "All of Lucian's facilities had been burned to the ground by that same group," she hissed furiously, "In just eight days, eight days, I lost three of my facilities. Damn it!" I almost laugh at the predicament she was in, fortunately I was able to control myself. Scar babe and the Violent Storm did a pretty good job in pissing The Mother off. Just few more of her facilities and we would be able to bring her down.
"Do you have any idea who were those people?" I asked, trying to look concerned.
She shook her head while clenching her jaw, "No."
Red who was standing silently in the distance, strode in our direction. "Maybe Violet had something to do with the sabotage," she stated causing my ears to tingle.
I turned to her, glaring, "As if I'd do that to my own mother."
"Well, it's just a little suspicious...you came, then days after, an unknown group had managed to infiltrate and destroy the facilities which had been running smoothly for years. If I may say, I think you are their collaborator," she accused. I looked over to The Mother who was silent since Red had spoke up and met her suspicious gaze.
Red, you bitch!
I composed myself and remained calm. "Tell me Red, what would I get by sabotaging the Red Circle?"
"If I'm right, you're still affiliated with the Agency and bringing down the cartel is your mission." If I wasn't pretending, I would have applauded her for her deducting skill. Damn, when did she have grown a brain?
I smirked, "Sadly Red...you're wrong. I may have been part of the Agency, but that was before I killed my friend and decided to join my mother. The Agency is already an ancient history for me Red, now I'm a Red Circle and I wouldn't do anything that would jeopardize my position, my mother and the cartel." As she stared hard at me, she sidled closer, reducing the gap between us.
"You're not fooling me Violet, I can see through you. I'm gonna prove that my suspicions are true and it's just a matter of time before I find out the truth."
"Oooohhh, I'm shivering in fear..." I trembled mockingly before chuckling, "Okay, prove it Red. I dare you."
"That's enough!" Helena hissed causing us to back down, "I don't wanna deal with your petty argument right now. If you two have nothing better to do, you might as well shut up!" she snapped causing me to roll my eyes.
"I'm sorry Mother," Red apologized promptly, "So what shall we do now?"
"I'm not sure but there's a possibility that the Coxs are behind the sabotage. It's the more reason that we have to find them as soon as possible. Any leads about their location, Violet?" My eyes widen for a fraction briefly as I was caught off guard. I didn't expect she would bring it up.
"I'm... afraid there's still no progress on that end Hel - I mean mom," I said calmly making her frown.
She clicked her tongue, "That's not the answer I was expecting Violet. I hope you don't disappoint me by making me wait long." I glared at Red who was smirking at me.
"Of course not mom."
She smiled, although I could tell it was fake, "Good. In the meantime...refrain from calling me mom until you prove yourself worthy to be my daughter." My jaw slackened as I was shocked from her statement. I didn't expect her to say that to me, not that I wanted to call her mom though, I was just shocked how she easily said that to me, her daughter.
Thankfully, I wasn't looking for a mother love or else I would be heartbroken hearing her say that.
I lowered my head a bit, "Yes...Helena," I answered through gritted teeth. Seriously? I hated her guts.
"Okay, that's settled. Let's go Red."
I looked up to her in curiosity as she walked past me. "Where are you going?" I blurted out all of a sudden. She stopped by the door and turned to look at me.
"Helping you. What one way to flush out the Coxs from hiding?" With a smirk, she opened the door and went out, followed by Red, leaving me confused. Staring at the door, I thought of what she meant by it until it hit me. She was going to do something to Olivia.
"Fuck!" I cursed as I dashed out the room only to be greeted by two guards, keeping me from leaving the mansion. One guard held up a hand and pointed back to the room I was just at. Like hell I would do that!
"Go back to the room Miss."
"I don't think so." Smirking, I sidled closer to him and instantly elbowed his face before kicking the other guy to his gut. They both staggered backwards and I took the opportunity to grab the gun from the guy I just elbowed and swiftly shot one of their knees, making them howl in pain. I then hit them with the butt of my gun instantly putting them to sleep before running away.
I reached outside and got into my car I just had, then drove out of the driveway. Speeding down the highway, I thought of what Helena would do to Olivia. She would probably hurt her, use her as bait to lure her parents out and if that would happen then our plan would be for naught and Scar babe would kill me for not taking care of Olivia. So, one way or another, I wouldn't let that happen. Not on my watch.
As soon as I reached the destination, I instantly parked my car and got out, bolting towards the entrance of the building. It took a few minutes for me to reach the top floor and without delay, I got off the lift and ran to Olivia's room which was guarded by two guards. I stopped on my tracks when I got near them and smiled like nothing was wrong. They acknowleged me with a faint nod before opening the door for me. I went in and saw Olivia sitting on the bed and when she looked up, her eyes widen before leaping off the bed and hastily ran in my direction. I shook my head faintly to remind her what she was supposed to do. Getting the hint, she stopped midway and stared at me briefly. She then approached me with a normal pace and unexpectedly slapped me on the cheek.
"What the hell?" I snapped, glaring at her.
She closed the gap between us and whispered, "I'm playing along." I didn't stop glaring at her even if I understood what she meant. It was a good thing she was doing what I asked her to do but did she have to slap me like that? If it wasn't for the plan and Scarlett, I would have returned the favor.
"What are you doing here?" she snapped, "How dare you show your face after what you did to Scarlett."
Cut the crap Olivia! I would have said that line if we weren't in act.
I smirked, "I just want to see your pitiful face," I said mockingly and I swore, I saw her rolled her eyes.
"If that's all you're here for, I suggest you leave now before I tear up your fucking face," she hissed. I could see she was starting to get all work up and I would have loved to take it further just to see her get pissed off but before I could do that, the door behind me flew open. I turned to look at Helena and Red as they strutted in. When they saw me, they both looked surprised.
"Violet...you're here," Helena spoke up as she quickly composed herself, "I see those guards couldn't contain you. What are you doing here?"
"Whatever you're planning to do to Olivia, I can't let you do it Helena."
"Why? Are you proving Red's accusations now?... Are you going to betray me Violet?"
I shook my head, "No. That's not it. I told you I will be the one to bring the Coxs to you, that goes my plan and my way of catching them. I don't want you meddling with it and I don't want you touching Olivia, Helena."
She chuckled humorlessly, "I can't belive you just told me what to do, dear daughter. No one has disrespected me like that." No matter how sharp she was glaring at me, it wouldn't stop me from talking back. I was about to retort when she unexpectedly laughed causing me to look at her, confused. She was definitely going crazier.
After her laughter died down, she took a breath, a smile remained on her lips, "You're really are a Moore, Violet. You don't follow rules and you disrespect authority...totally like me."
I ignored her comment and mumbled, "Leave Olivia alone. She's mine until I get you what you want." I kept up my stern expression as I watched the two stared me down. I was grateful Red didn't interfere with our conversation as she liked to stir things up.
What I was doing right now, asking Helena not to touch Olivia was a big risk to the plan. Her suspicions against me might grow, she would think I was hiding something behind my sleeves, which would make it hard to earn her complete trust.
After a moment of silence had passed, finally Helena spoke up. "Why are you so eager to protect her Violet? Does she mean something to you? Perhaps another close friend?" Okay, those questions really caught me off guard. Of course I couldn't tell them my real reason why I didn't want them to touch Olivia. So, I said the only thing that crossed my mind at the moment.
"You may not know this, but Olivia is a bully. She's a bitch and I hate her so much. That's why I'm taking this chance to make her mine. Be in my possession, so I could make her my servant because I know it would pissed her off... You should know better Helena, that what's mine is mine alone. I don't like sharing with anyone, not even you."
She smirked, "For once, you have said something I could be proud of Violet... Very well then, I'll keep my hands off for now, but like I said, don't make me wait long, you don't want me to be angry Violet." I nodded and with that, she turned her back to me then walked towards the door. Red lingered for a bit, giving me a death stare but soon she followed Helena out of the room. Once they were out of sight, I breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that it went well, for now. I didn't know how long I would have to keep protecting Olivia if she would stay here any longer. Helena could be unpredictable sometimes, so it would be safe for Olivia if she was away from her. So, the next step would be to get her out of here and to do that, I needed Scarlett.
*
I waited for a couple of days before I contacted Scarlett and asked her to meet me. Just contacting her was a huge risk, let alone was meeting her but it had to be done even if I was constantly being followed by Helena's goons or Red. They were not so discreet afterall.
As soon as I got inside the mall, I took off my sunglasses and scanned the area as people walked by before strutting to my destination. I took my time in walking, looking at different stuffs like what normal people do, because I knew Red was spying on me. It was boring me but I had to be patient so she wouldn't suspect a thing.
After twenty minutes, I reached the third floor and walked inside the clothing shop where Scarlett and I were supposed to meet. Like what I did earlier, I pretended looking at the clothes but occasionally glanced around, trying to find Scarlett. This was a small store so it wasn't that hard to find her, unfortunately she was still nowhere to be seen. I decided to wait for another ten minutes with nothing to do but checked out all the racks and asked every now and then the staffs about the random clothes I picked.
When it was passed ten minutes, I went out of the store and walked to the railing to cool off by watching down at the people. I couldn't believe Scarlett would bail on me like this after what we talked about on the phone. Didn't she like to get Olivia out of there? I meant this could be our only chance to rescue her.
As I took deep calming breaths, I felt arms suddenly wrapped around my waist.
"Violet, I finally found you." Alarmed by the sudden contact and hearing an unfamiliar voice, I pulled away the arms on my waist and turned to the unfamiliar person. I eyed the girl suspiciously, thinking at the same time, where and when I met the girl as she was looking at me like she knew me.
"Do I know you?" I asked warily when I couldn't remember meeting her.
"Of course, you know me. We know each other," she answered giddily and unexpectedly wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me. I tried to push her but stopped when she whsipered something, "Act like we're friends. Scarlett sent me."
Hearing her say that, I immediately wrapped my arms around her waist and lifted her like two bestfriends who just saw each other. "Oh I missed you," I blurted, giggling awkwardly. We then broke apart and she chuckled.
"Okay that was good. I'm Valerie by the way, but you can call me Val, everybody does."
I snickered and gently slapped her upper arm as if she said something silly. It was like we were catching up. "Nice to meet you. How do you know Scarlett again?"
She laughed, "I'm the new recruit of VS." If anyone could hear our conversation right now, they would think we were crazy as our gestures weren't in accord with what we were talking about.
I frowned, "Victoria's Secret?" I asked teasingly causing her to really laugh.
"Nice one. You got me there."
"Thanks. So, shall we go grab a bite and talk about business?" And by business I meant the plan.
She nodded eagerly, "Yeah, sure."
We started walking side by side, heading to where the food court was, getting to know each other at the same time. As long as we were out of Red's earshot, we were safe talking about whatever.
"So you're Ryan's girlfriend," I asked after we ordered our food and made our way to the seats.
She nodded, "Uh huh."
"Wow, I didn't expect for him to have a nice taste."
She grinned, "I'll take that as a compliment," she said as we sat down across each other.
I chuckled, "Okay, suit yourself. Anyway, enough chitchat, let's talk about business."
After sipping her soda, she leaned in and eventually her expression turned serious, "Finally," she mumbled making me smirk. Not bad, I liked her already.
*
Taking a deep breath, I entered the surveillance room, which was two rooms away from Olivia's, and saw two guards monitoring Olivia. I took this opportunity while Helena and Red were away, so they couldn't see me lurking, making their suspicions at me, grow.
The guards instantly looked up with confused expressions as it was my first time being in the room.
"How's everything?" I asked, breaking the silence.
The guard near me answered, "Um, everything's fine Ms. Violet. The captive has been...cooperative." I crossed my arms and didn't answer as I simply stared him down. Noticing my demeanor, he timidly looked down.
My attention flickered to the screen and saw Olivia laying on her bed. She was oblivious of what was about to go down later as I didn't mention anything to her to avoid change in her behavior because knowing her, she would get agitated and I didn't want it to be the cause of our failure.
As I waited for the moment, I decided to sit behind the two guards pretending I was watching the feed, making the two guys in front shifted uncomfortably in their seats. I didn't know they were intimidated by me, maybe I was their boss' daughter, but that was it. We may shared the same blood but I was nothing like her. I could tell Helena was hard on them, making them fear her, but I wasn't like that. If they get to know me and show some respect, then I would do the same for them.
As my mind drifted to somewhere, the door suddenly opened, bringing me back to my senses and came in a guard, carrying a bottle of wine. I frowned and when the guard saw my look, his eyes widen in surprised.
"Uh, it's not what it looks like..." he spoke nervously, "this is actually for you Ms. Violet. A staff gave it to me, said someone left it for you."
I briefly eyed the guard suspiciously before speaking up, "Well then...call room service for some glasses."
"Pardon Miss?" he asked uncertainly.
I sighed annoyingly, "Tell them to bring us four glasses so we could all drink that wine. Don't worry, The Mother would know nothing about this." His face instantly brightened up and promptly put the bottle on the table as he walked to the phone. Like him, the other two guards looked excited as they did a fist bump, causing me to smile. Well, it looked like Helena was a stickler for a No Drinking on Duty rule.
We waited for few minutes and when the glasses arrived, they started drinking after I gave them permission. They handed me a glass which I gladly took, mumbling a thanks. I brought the liquor to my lips as I watched them carefully and without knowing, after a moment, one by one, they fell to the floor with a thud. Huh! They would surely feel their bumps tomorrow without remembering about this.
Looking at them, I stood up and tilted the glass, spilling the content before letting the glass fall from my hold. I then nabbed my hanky from my pants' pocket and dabbed it against my lips, getting rid of the wine dregs.
As soon as I was done, I held up my hand near my ear and spoke, "It's time." Turning to the monitors, I saw two masked figures entered Olivia's room and soon as Olivia saw them, she started fighting them although she was easily pinned down. Having watched enough, I started tampering the system to delete everything that has been recorded since I came in.
"Ryan? Make sure everything's irretrievable, for me?" I spoke through the comm.
"On it. No worries Violet, I got you all covered," he answered and I smiled.
Walking over the two bodies, I mumbled, "Sleep well boys," and dumped my hanky to the bin. I headed out of the room and walked a little faster than my normal pace until I reached Olivia's room.
As the door behind me made a thud noise, the two masked figures immediately looked in my direction.
"Violet! Help me!" Olivia yelled as she struggled against Val's hold. As I watched her any longer, a smile started forming on my lips then seconds after, I burst out in laughter. Scarlett and Val joined in, leaving Olivia confused while watching us.
"Gosh, you guys...look at her," I said, gesturing at Olivia. When their laughter died down, they pulled their masks off and when Olivia saw Scarlett, she leapt from the floor and hugged her.
"Oh Scarlett, you bitch!" Olivia hissed while still hugging Scarlett, causing me to chuckle.
"Okay guys, let's save the reunion for later," Val interrupted, earning a glare from Olivia.
"Um, who are you?" she asked.
"Anndd, let's save the questions for later," Val replied cooly.
I walked towards them, "She's right Olivia. Go with her for now, Scarlett and I still have something to do," when she was about to refuse, I raised my hand, stopping her, "Please..." After glancing at Scarlett who gave her a faint nod, she finally relented and headed out of the room with Val. As soon as the door was closed, I turned my attention to Scarlett.
"It's now or never," I said.
"I can't believe you're making me do this. Why not Val?"
"Ahhh, because I don't know how strong she could...punch? Besides, I trust you Scarlett. Just...don't overdo it."
She sighed, shaking her head, "Fine. Just remember...you ask for this."
I nodded and readied myself, "I'm ready. Let's get this started."
With doubt written on her expression, she took a step back and also readied herself. I briefly glanced at her curled fist before looking back up and with a swift motion, her fist connected to my jaw causing my head to sway to the side. I instantly feel a cut on the corner of my lips and tasted blood.
"That's enough right?" she asked worriedly.
"Two more,"
"Oh Violet, I can't..." She stopped when I raised a brow. I straightened myself once more as I watched her composing herself. And when she was good, she threw the second punch then the third in successive and with the last punch, I dropped down to the floor as I momentarily saw stars.
"You still...throw strong punches, Scar babe," I mumbled, feeling her arms around me as she helped me up. I spitted the blood and groaned when I felt a stinging pain on my left cheekbone.
"God, V, you're making me feel terrible."
I took a deep breath, "Don't be. I asked for this remember?...Now let's move on to the last one."
"What?"
Smiling, I closed the gap between us and pulled her gun out. "This," I said raising the gun. When she understood what I meant, she shook her head fervently.
"No, no, no V. I won't shoot you. This is taking too far already. I can't do that."
"Oh come on Scarlett, don't be a baby and just do it. If you remembered, I shot you, now you get to shoot me also," I said jokingly earning a glare from her.
"Are you serious? Violet, you're asking me to really shoot you, it's totally different from what you did back then... and it was part of the plan."
"Exactly! This is part of the plan also. I'm doing this so they wouldn't get too suspicious of me..." sighing, I held both of her shoulders and made her face me, "Scarlett, we already have gone far with our plan, we can't stop now...This is one way to earn Helena's trust, and if we do, then we're one step closer to our goal...So can we please get on with it?"
She stared hard at me but after a minute, she finally relented. I gave her gun back and she reluctantly stepped back. I steeled myself and nodded at her to continue. Biting her lip, she slowly lifted the gun and aimed it at me. Seeing her serious expression, I felt nervous all of a sudden.
"Oh I forgot to say," I abruptly spoke, "Um, just on the shoulder okay?" She nodded then returned to focus.
"Violet, I'm gonna count up to five, for you."
"Okay Scar babe. That's more like it."
"Okay, one..." I took deep long breaths, already expecting the pain. Even if I was shot before, I wouldn't get used to the pain.
"Two..."
Just chill Violet.
"Three..."
Be strong. It's just like a sting of a b-...
Thwack!
As a sudden impact threw me steps backwards, my eyes immediately opened, catching a glimpse of Scarlett already lowering the gun, before they closed on their own accord again when I registered an searing pain on my left shoulder.
"Owww!" I briefly howled in pain as I clutched my bleeding shoulder, "It wasn't even five when you pulled the trigger," I complained when she held me and seated me on the table.
"I had to. God, V, there's a lot of blood," she mumbled worriedly as she pressed her hand on mine, adding some pressure on my shoulder.
"I'm fine Scar babe. It's just a shoulder." I groaned and gritted my teeth.
"Uh, Scarlett, you need to get out of there. I just saw The Mother entered the lift," Darren interrupted through the comm.
"You should go now babe."
"No, I can't just leave you like this V."
"You can't let Helena see you. Get out of here now."
"But-"
"Scarlett? If you don't leave, then this would be all for nothing. Go now, I'll be fine."
"Okay. Take care V." She kissed my cheek before she reluctantly stood up and headed to the door. With one quick glance at me, she went out of the room and I sighed but groaned when my shoulder moved a bit.
Ugh, this hurts like a bitch!

"What's wrong?" I asked, sounding worried.
