I nervously paced back and forth in my bedroom while waiting for Samantha to wake up. It has been hours since I shot her with the tranq gun and until now she was still unconscious. I had no idea how tranq guns worked and I was afraid that I put Samantha into a coma or something, if that was even possible.
Thankfully all my worries jumped out of the window when I saw Samantha yawned groggily. She was still half awake and tried to pry her arms free but failed. When she realized the state she was in, she sighed weakly.
"Duct tapes, really?"
"Why? Would you prefer I tied you with chains?"
"No, this is fine. Why are you doing this by the way?" she asked calmly. I was a little surprised she didn't squirm or wriggled in her chair which made me more curious. I dragged the chair beside me in front of Sam and sat on it, my arms rested on the backrest.
"I want to ask you questions and if you answer them, I'll set you free!" I frowned when a laugh escaped her throat. Was she insane or something? Didn't she realize the situation she was in? I mean I wasn't planning to hurt her but damn, wasn't this scenario scary enough for her? But if she really was that person who I thought she was then this was probably a playtime for her.
"Y-You really are s-something Olivia..." she said in between her laughs, "...God this is cute. If you have questions, you could have asked me like a normal person would do instead of shooting me with a tranq gun!" she suddenly growled.
"I'm sorry okay. Honestly, I regret using it on you, I thought I put you into a coma or something because you were out for hours and I didn't know what to do. Thankfully you're conscious now. And the reason I shot you in the first place is because I don't think you would answer my questions and I kind of wanted to try something cool, you know."
"Oh for fuck sake Olivia, that's just silly and uncool,"
My tongue clicked and I rolled my eyes, "Don't make me apologize again Samantha 'cause I won't and it was cool, for me," I said in a deadpan tone.
"Whatever, and just to let you know I woke up earlier but I decided to sleep right away and you can untie me now because I am not planning to not answer your questions." and yeah I was worried for nothing.
"Nope, I like you being tied up, now shall we start?"
"You're a psycho."
"Mmmm maybe. So what's your name?"
She snorted, "Samantha Flynn, you forgot,"
"I mean your real name," I said sternly. Her expression turned serious and she stared dead to my eyes. One minute she was chill and the next, she instantly turned serious. Her penetrating gaze sent a chilling sensation down to my spine. I wanted to look away but I chose not to. Even if those eyes were a little scary to look at, they were still the most beautiful.
"Scarlett Smith, that's my real name."
"I thought so..." her eyebrows slightly arched, "I heard dad called you that name, I thought he was mistaken but I guess he was right afterall. So how did my dad know your name and why you're using a fake one?"
"Your dad contacted the agency I come from and they sent me to protect you. As for the name, it was a need to keep my identity unknown to other people."
"That explains the bodyguards..." I mumbled under my breath, "...but why would my dad needed protection? and why would someone want me dead?"
"I'm afraid you have to ask your dad about that." What did my parents do this time?
"Wow," I breathed in astonishment, "So you're basically my personal bodyguard...but why didn't you tell me before?"
She sighed, "Your dad asked me not to, knowing that you don't want any bodyguards being near you or you will sneak away, putting yourself more in danger." So Sam- Scarlett has been protecting me secretly this entire time. I felt a pang of guilt thinking how I had been so mean to her since we met and all she did, aside from pissing me off, was risking her life everyday to keep me safe.
"So it was really you who saved me from that masked girl?"
"Yes,"
"And that night at Brad's party, it was you?"
"Yes," I didn't have to ask about that movie night because I was certain that that redhead was trying to kill me and Scarlett still fought her even though she was in pain and the chase after that, it all made sense to me now. It was because of her that I was still living my life.
Knowing these things, all I could feel were remorse and disgust at myself. Yeah, we bickered and sometimes we couldn't stand each other but I didn't want to see her get hurt. And the thought of her, risking her life to protect me, ached my heart. I guess I did care about her afterall.
I covered my face with my hands as burning tears were threatening to escape my eyes. I couldn't let her see me this way, she might think I was getting soft.
"Olivia?"
"I'm sorry," was all I could say. I forced back the tears and pulled my hands covering my face before standing up. I grabbed the scissors beside my make up rack and walked near her. For now, I was trying to clear my head and sort my emotions as they were piling up. I just wanted her to go and leave me alone.
When I was about to start cutting the duct tapes, I heard a faint cry outside. Curious to know what it was, I cautiously walked towards the window.
"No, Liv get back here and untie me now," Scar hissed in a low voice. I shushed her and slid the curtain a bit so that I could peek. My heart skipped a beat when I saw our bodyguards lying on the ground. But when I saw who were the assailants, my blood instantly ran cold. Came into view was the redhead girl followed by the masked girl with a man in tow.
I staggered back, still facing the window and when I turned around, I bumped into Scarlett.
"H-How the hell did you get free?"
'You tied like a baby!" She walked around the bed and bent down as if searching something under my bed. When she got up, I saw her holding a gun.
"You hid a gun under my bed?" I hissed angrily.
"Yeah obviously. We'll talk about this later, we have to move now, I bet they already saw you in here," I grabbed the tranq gun and the remaining little dart and we immediately got out of my room and ran across the hallway. We entered parents' room and Scarlett pushed me to my dad's office. I wanted to stay near her but she insisted for me to hide. My heart was pounding loudly against my chest while I held firmly the gun. I decided to hide under my dad's desk since the door to his private room was locked. It was always locked.
Every second that ticked by was an agony for me as I kept thinking about Scarlett. I didn't know what I would do if something were to happen to her this time. God, where were my parents when I needed them the most.
I held my breath when the door creaked open. My hand holding the gun started to shake when I heard slow thudding footsteps across the room.
"Come out now kitty, kitty..." The familiarity of her muffled voice made the hairs on the back of my neck stood still. She may be was unsuccessful of killing me that night, but perhaps tonight was her lucky night as I doubted Scarlett would be able to save me this time.
But if this was my end, I wouldn't back down without a fight.
"Wait, don't shoot, I surrender," I yelled before hauling myself up and raised my hands in surrender. "Please..."
"Ah there you are! Lucky for you, the boss changed her mind and wants you alive," I would have panic seeing her pointing a gun at me but since it was like a deja vu, all I could think was to end this and be done with it.
"So your boss' a she?"
"Yes and as much as I want to torture you before putting a bullet in your head, I have to restrain myself for now."
"Where's Sca- Samantha?"
"Oh that pretty bodyguard of yours? I guess Red already killed her knowing that she's in no condition to fight but damn she's a badass, she managed to knock our dude out." My knees almost gave out when I pictured Scarlett lying dead. I gripped the edge of the table beside me to steady myself.
"Ohhh that's unexpected, based on your reaction, you like her, don't you?" I didn't answer and kept a steady glare at her, "Well she will be dead soon or dead already as I've said. Now back to business, tie your hands up," she ordered throwing a plastic cuff at the same time.
"You honestly think I would willingly tie myself up," I retorted.
"Tie your hands or I'll shoot you,"
I chuckled mockingly, "You can't. Your boss wants me alive. So either you take me by force or kill me instead because I would never go willingly with you."
There was a short moment of silence before she snorted then burst in laughter. I could have shoot her right here and then but her gun was still aiming at me and one slip up meant my death. When her laughter died down, she quickly composed herself.
"So I have to take you by force then. So what's it gonna be, your left leg or right? Or what about your right shoulder or your left? Choose Olivia and I'll be happy to put a bullet in there," she hissed, clasping the gun tighter, "Yeah sure my boss wants you alive, but that doesn't mean I can't shoot you."
I stepped back as my heart was again pounding against my ribcage while mentally scolding myself for angering her, "Okay," I breathed, "I'll come with you, just don't shoot me, please. You can tie me, I don't know how to do it."
"See that wasn't so hard, was it? And don'take me for a fool, now tie your hands for the last time,"
"Fine!" I cautiously bent down and pretended to pick up the cuff and when I almost touched it, I immediately lurched forward, holding her wrist that has the gun and directed it upward. A bang erupted within the room as the went off, causing me to jump a little. Using my body, I pushed her backwards until she hit the wall. Without delay, my other hand snaked to my back, grabbing the tranq gun I kept behind, thankfully it was a small gun, and brought it against her stomach, pulling the trigger.
I saw her eyes widen behind those eye holes of her mask and looked down. I kept a firm hold on her wrist as she started to struggle. I pounded her hand against the wall, making the gun fall out of her grasp before clutching the collar of her leather jacket and with a gathered strength, I hauled her towards my dad's desk. She rolled on top, knocking out the things with her as she fell to the other side with a loud thud.
I picked up the gun on the floor before checking her unconscious body behind the desk. I wanted to take her mask off but I couldn't waste another minute so I jogged out of the room, hoping to find Scarlett alive and kicking.
I found Scarlett and Red down in the living room but I stopped on my tracks momentarily when I saw Red, her back onto me, choking the life out of Scarlett with her arm around my bodyguard's neck. Burning rage heated me up inside and I immediately descended down the right stairs since they were near on it than the left.
Red didn't seem to notice me approaching which was good so without hesitation, I curled up my hand around the gun tighter before bringing its butt to her head, smacking her hard. She immediately slumped to the ground bringing Scarlett down with her, gasping for air. When Scarlett realized what was happening, her eyes immediately found mine. She slowly dragged herself up and strangely my arms stretched out to help her. When she was on her knees, she unexpectedly pulled me towards her and our bodies crashed into each other. Her warm embrace left me speechless as I was feeling different emotions but what I felt most was the feeling of being secured in her arms.
"Thank God you're alive," she whispered.
"Yeah bitches likeme don't go down that easily," I jokingly replied. We broke apart while she was chuckling and helped her get on her feet. I couldn't imagine how they fought just by looking at her face. There was a gash between her right brow and her eyelid which was bleeding down to her cheek, the left side of her head was also bleeding along with the side of her lips as there was a trickle of blood down to her chin. Red really did a number on her but so was she when I looked over to Red's bloody face. But I knew if I hadn't came on time, Scarlett would be dead by now.
"We have to get out of here, it's not safe anymore. Where are your parents?"
"They have to take care of some business."
"Good, call them and tell them not to go home, it would be safer for them."
"But where would we go?" We were already outside while still supporting her as she was unable to walk properly without hissing or groaning in pain.
"It's about time to meet with an old friend."
*
My back was starting to ache for sitting for a couple of hours and my stomach would growl from time to time as I continued driving, following Scarlett's instruction. Since we left the house, I never stopped to get some food or to stretch my body out because I didn't want to disturb her while she was sleeping. At first she was stubborn to take a nap because she needed to be prepared if something goes wrong on the way, she said while cleaning the blood on her face. But her words betrayed when after few minutes, she finally dozed off.
The car finally came to a stop and I stared at a two-storey white house in a clearing. I didn't know if I followed the trail correctly or if I drove to a wrong path. I shook Scarlett awake and she stirred immediately.
"Is this the house?" I asked while she was rubbing her eyes. When she scanned the view, she nodded and got out of the car. I did the same and walked in front of the car beside her. She took a deep breath before closing her eyes.
"Ah I missed this place."
We started walking to the house, our boots crunching against the ground. I was calmly sauntering when Scarlett's loud voice halted me. I looked at her questioningly while she shook her head.
"What?"
"I told you to stay close to me, now don't step forward instead make a step sideward then walk up to me." I reluctantly obeyed her and took a step sideward and walked up to her side.
"What was that?" I asked once we started walking.
"Well you almost step on a landmine," she answered casually while I stood agape and watched her back heading to the porch. Shaking my head to recover from a little shock, I followed her and stood besid her. She knocked thrice and we waited patiently as we heard footsteps from inside. When the door opened, a gorgeous blonde girl with lips as red as blood smiled at us, correction, smiled at Scarlett.
"It's good to see you babe, I miss you!" she greeted then hugged Scarlett. Babe? Was she her girlfriend or something? My eyes narrowed as Scarlett gently pushed her away. "Oh sorry, I forgot you're hurt..." Forgot your face, as if Scarlett doesn't have cuts and bruises in her face, "...you look like shit Scar babe!" Wow, looks like I don't even exist here!
"Ehem, um, thanks for agreeing into this V."
"Anything for you darling,"
Scarlett chuckled awkwardly, "So um, V this is Olivia, Olivia this is Violet,"
"Oh hello," she beamed and unexpectedly pulled me into a hug. "I have a feeling we could be best buddies," she mumbled excitedly, although there was something I detected in her tone.
I doubt it!
"S-Sure,"
She pulled away and gestured for us to come in. Walking in, I doubted I would have a good time in this place.
Scarlett you pretty bitch, you brought me to a hellhole!
