My uncle stood there vibrating with barely contained rage, his murderous glare locked onto my dad and Eden like he was just waiting for an excuse to unleash hell. Clearly, he didn't think they'd suffered nearly enough. Sensing things were about to spiral out of control, I grabbed his arm.
"Uncle, forget about them—we need to focus on saving Mom first!"
At my words, he threw one last death stare their way before turning to me, his voice steady. "I brought Volkten's best medical team. She'll be taken care of."
Within minutes, the hospital director and a flock of high-ranking officials came rushing over, practically tripping over themselves to accommodate my uncle's every demand—including transferring Mom to a different facility.
That alone spoke volumes about his influence.
Meanwhile, Dad and Eden stood frozen like statues, their faces ghostly pale. My uncle's brutality had knocked the fight right out of them—they didn't even dare to breathe too loudly.
But the second the cops burst in, they suddenly found their voices again.
"Officer! That man assaulted us!" Dad shouted, pointing wildly. "Arrest him! I want a full medical report—I'm pressing charges! Lock him up!"
Eden chimed in, her voice shrill. "He attacked us out of nowhere! We don't even know him! Everyone here saw it—he needs to pay for this!"
With the police as their audience, they transformed into full-blown victims, screeching like they wouldn't stop until my uncle was behind bars.
I shot him a worried glance, but he just smirked, looking at them like they were the dumbest people on earth.
"You two pathetic worms hurt my sister and niece, and now you're playing victim?" His voice dripped with contempt. "You really think your little secrets are safe?"
"A cheating husband and a homewrecking mistress—how bold of you to stand there and pretend you're innocent."
The crowd erupted in murmurs, eyes darting between Dad and Eden with newfound suspicion. Dad's face twisted in fury.
"That's slander! I'll sue you into oblivion! My wife doesn't have a brother—she's an orphan!"
Eden shrieked, "Zane and I are just business partners! What's your angle here?" Then she turned her venomous glare on me. "Elle, did you hire this guy to pretend to be family?"
Before I could even open my mouth, my uncle let out a dark chuckle.
"Still lying? Fine. Let's show everyone exactly what kind of trash you are."
The second he finished speaking, the hospital's giant screen flickered to life—revealing Dad and Eden in all their naked, tangled glory, caught in the middle of their filthy affair.
