The second the words left my mouth, my entire body locked up.
Then it hit me—that voice wasn't Felix's. The tone was all wrong, which meant there was someone else in the room.
Felix stood beside me, so who the hell was pinning me down?
Ice flooded my veins.
"Look at me and tell me what you want," the stranger demanded.
Just as my fingers touched the sleep mask, cold breath brushed my ear—then the blindfold was ripped away.
What I saw nearly stopped my heart.
Vincent Macmillian. Felix's best friend. A man I knew far too well.
"Jesus Christ—!" Heat exploded across my face. I lashed out blindly, my foot connecting with Vincent's head.
"Relax, sweetheart. Your husband gave the green light." Vincent's smirk made me sick. "How's it feel doing this with him watching? Pretty fucking wild, right?"
My scream brought Felix bursting through the bedroom door. "Lillian? What's—"
I stared between them, my stomach twisting. Felix didn't speak. Just... nodded.
That tiny movement shattered me.
Clutching the sheets to my chest, I scrambled backward off the bed. The man I'd loved for years had become something unrecognizable.
"Baby, calm down—" Felix stepped closer, voice low. "The neighbors—"
"Don't you dare!" My voice cracked. "Don't fucking touch me!"
"Let me explain—"
"Explain what?" Vincent strolled toward me, naked and unashamed. "That you're into sharing? Keep screeching and the whole block'll know."
Their united front made my knees buckle. They were predators circling wounded prey.
"We're through." Jokes were one thing. This? Unforgivable.
If he could give me away like some toy, our marriage was already dead.
I fled into the night, our memories flashing like a grotesque slideshow. When had the man I loved become this monster?
"Lillian! Goddammit—" Felix's fingers closed around my wrist.
I wrenched free, stumbling into the street—
Tires screeched.
White light blinded me. The impact sent fire shooting up my leg. A sickening snap echoed through my bones.
"Are you blind? Lillian—!"
Darkness swallowed Felix's panicked shout as the world went black.
