The bedroom door stood wide open, revealing Daniel and Sophia Valentine standing dangerously close. A wave of emotion—hotter and more intense than what I'd felt at the massage parlor—surged through me.
This was a terrible idea.
Sophia was alluring, bold, and shamelessly flirtatious. What if Daniel couldn't resist her?
But I quickly shook off the thought.
This was my home. That was my husband, and Sophia was my best friend. What could possibly go wrong?
These ridiculous fears only proved one thing—I loved Daniel too much, to the point of irrational jealousy.
But today wasn't about him. It was about me.
I needed to shake him up, make him realize he could lose me.
I glanced back at Nathan Roland, who flashed me a knowing smile.
"Ready, Vivian? Just relax."
Lying on the bed, my skin burned under his gaze. I was in my usual gym gear—sports bra and shorts—but suddenly, it felt like far too little.
Was I really going through with this?
Before I could second-guess myself, warm hands settled on my shoulders, kneading with practiced ease.
I flinched, nearly jumping off the bed.
The sensation was… wrong.
This was Daniel's best friend. The sheer taboo of it sent a shiver down my spine.
"I—I changed my mind," I stammered, my voice unsteady.
Nathan chuckled behind me. "Vivian, weren't you the one who wanted to make Daniel jealous? I haven't even gotten started yet."
His words dripped with something suggestive, and my face flamed hotter.
Earlier, Daniel and I had agreed—for the sake of realism, I should let out a few… appreciative sounds.
And from the other room, I could already hear faint noises.
That bastard. Whether it was a professional masseuse or my best friend, he had zero reservations.
I was furious—at him, and at myself for not being as shameless.
"Vivian, Daniel's already enjoying himself. You shouldn't fall behind," Nathan murmured, his voice low and coaxing.
His breath brushed my ear, and my heart hammered wildly.
Before I could protest, his hands slid lower, gliding down my back with unsettling confidence.
I buried my face in my arms, forcing myself to breathe.
To my surprise, Nathan was actually good. Maybe I could just pretend he was a professional and endure it.
But when his fingers traced my waist, dipping dangerously low—
I bolted upright.
I didn't need a mirror to know my face was burning.
"Let's just… stop," I choked out.
I couldn't cross that line.
Nathan's eyes gleamed with amusement. "Vivian, whatever happens here, Daniel won't know. And I won't tell him."
I shook my head frantically. "It's not about him. I can't do this."
He sighed. "In that regard, you're nothing like Daniel."
My brows shot up. The comment felt like a dig.
I glared at him, but he just smirked, smoothly changing the subject.
Call it instinct, but something about him set off alarms in my head.
Finally, Daniel emerged from the other room with Sophia, laughing and touching in a way that made my stomach twist.
Something about their closeness felt… off.
I couldn't explain why, but it left me unsettled.
