Grayson's face darkened as he glared at the drunken mess before him, his lips curling in disgust.
"Who the hell are you? Where's Mila?"
The drunk just kept laughing and sobbing like a madman, his bottle knocked over, liquor spilling everywhere—some splashing onto his own face. At this point, it was impossible to tell if the wetness was alcohol or tears.
Then, without warning, the drunk lunged forward and clung to Grayson's leg like a desperate man.
"She was good to me," he slurred. "If she hadn't fed me that one time, I'd have starved to death… Damn shame she's gone."
Grayson's expression didn't waver. He just kicked the man off with brutal force, sending him sprawling onto a small dirt mound.
The impact seemed to sober the drunk instantly. He scrambled to fix the disturbed earth, muttering frantic apologies. "I'm sorry—I didn't mean to—"
Grayson frowned. "What is this?"
The drunk gave a broken smile. "Her grave."
A quick glance confirmed it—a crude wooden plaque, the letters carved unevenly:
Mila Nelson's Grave.
The drunk fumbled to straighten the crooked marker like it was something precious, still whispering his regrets.
"Pathetic."
Grayson shoved him aside with a sneer, then delivered a sharp kick—splintering the tombstone in two.
"Three years, and Mila's still playing games. Even faking her own death for sympathy."
He didn't stop there. With a cold command, his bodyguards grabbed shovels and leveled the mound entirely.
"Let's see how long she keeps up this charade."
The drunk let out a strangled cry as his painstaking work was destroyed again. "She's dead! Why won't you just let her rest? She was good—she didn't deserve this!"
Grayson barely spared him a glance, his voice icy. "Mila, I know you're listening. You have three days to show yourself and donate that kidney to Chloe. Do it, and I'll end your punishment. Keep hiding, and you'll never see your son again."
With that, he turned on his heel and left—but not before ordering his men to break the drunk's leg.
"That's what happens when trash gets in my way."
Nearby, unseen, I trembled.
Jayden. My baby. Three years without him.
Grayson knew exactly how to break me. If I were alive, I'd have run out that instant.
But I wasn't alive.
Once they were gone, the villa fell silent again—just the drunk's broken sobs over my ruined grave. His leg was a bloody mess, and my heart ached.
Not many knew I'd died. But this man, this drunk I'd once helped, had stayed. Guarded this place.
He'd been there the day Chloe pushed me from the fifth-floor terrace. Seen it all.
I should've died on impact.
I didn't.
Just left broken, half-dead.
The drunk had raced for help—but in those few minutes, Chloe made sure I wouldn't survive. She brought in men to finish the job, then had them bury me alive in the backyard.
Her words still haunted me:
"You're always in my way. Once you're gone, I'll finally be Mrs. Allen. Don't blame me—blame your bad luck."
Maybe my rage was too strong. Even in death, I couldn't move on.
All I'd wanted was to see my son one last time.
Without me there… what would Chloe do to him?
